1 ¶ The wicked flee when no man pursues, but the righteous are bold as a young lion.
El impío huye sin que nadie lo persiga, pero el hombre justo vive tranquilo como un león.
2 ¶ By the rebellion of the land, many are its princes, but by the man of understanding and wisdom the land shall remain stable.
Si el país anda mal, abundan los caudillos; pero el hombre sabio y prudente le da estabilidad.
3 ¶ A poor man that oppresses the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaves no food.
El gobernante que oprime a los pobres es como una tormenta que arrasa los trigales.
4 ¶ Those that forsake the law praise the wicked, but such as keep the law contend with them.
Los transgresores alaban a los impíos; los que observan la ley se oponen a ellos.
5 ¶ Evil men do not understand judgment, but those that seek the LORD understand all things.
Los malvados no entienden nada de la justicia; los que buscan al Señor lo entienden todo.
6 ¶ Better is the poor that walks in his perfection than he that is perverse in his ways, though he is rich.
Es mejor ser pobre y portarse con integridad, que ser rico y andar por el mal camino.
7 ¶ Whosoever keeps the law is a wise son, but he that is a companion of gluttons shames his father.
El hijo prudente observa la ley; el que anda con glotones avergüenza a su padre.
8 ¶ He that by usury and unjust gain increases his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
El prestamista avaro aumenta sus riquezas para dejárselas al que ama a los pobres.
9 ¶ He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
Del que no presta oído a la ley, hasta su oración resulta repugnante.
10 ¶ Whosoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit, but the perfect shall inherit every good thing.
El que desvía a los justos hacia el mal camino acabará por caer en su misma trampa, pero los hombres honrados heredarán el bien.
11 ¶ The rich man is wise in his own conceit, but the poor that has understanding is wiser than he.
El hombre rico se cree muy sabio, pero el pobre e inteligente lo exhibe.
12 ¶ When the righteous rejoice, there is great glory, but when the wicked rise, the sane man hides himself.
Si los justos triunfan, hay una gran fiesta; si triunfan los impíos, todo el mundo se esconde.
13 ¶ He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whosoever confesses and forsakes them shall attain mercy.
El que encubre sus pecados no prospera; el que los confiesa y se aparta de ellos alcanza la misericordia divina.
14 ¶ Blessed is the man that fears God always, but he that hardens his heart shall fall into evil.
¡Dichoso aquél que siempre teme a Dios! En cambio, el duro de corazón acabará mal.
15 ¶ As a roaring lion and a hungry bear, so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.
Un león rugiente, un oso hambriento: ¡eso es el mal gobernante sobre el pueblo pobre!
16 ¶ The prince void of intelligence is also a great oppressor, but he that hates covetousness shall prolong his days.
El gobernante fatuo aumenta la extorsión; el que odia la avaricia prolongará sus días.
17 ¶ A man that does violence to the blood of any person shall flee all the way to the grave, and no one shall sustain him.
El que lleva a cuestas la muerte de otro huye hasta el sepulcro y nadie lo detiene.
18 ¶ Whosoever walks in integrity shall be saved, but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall into one of them.
El que es honrado sale bien librado, pero el que va por mal camino caerá en un hoyo.
19 ¶ He that tills his land shall be filled with bread, but he that follows after vain persons shall be filled with poverty.
El que cultiva su campo tendrá pan de sobra, el que cultiva ilusiones acabará en la pobreza.
20 ¶ The man of truth shall abound with blessings, but he that makes haste to be rich shall not be absolved.
El hombre fiel recibe muchas bendiciones; el que quiere hacerse rico no sale bien librado.
21 ¶ To have respect of persons in judgment is not good; even for a piece of bread, man will transgress.
No está bien discriminar a nadie; Hay gente que peca por un bocado de pan.
22 ¶ He that hastens to be rich has an evil eye and does not consider that poverty shall come upon him.
El avaro tiene prisa por hacerse rico, sin saber que la pobreza está en camino.
23 ¶ He that rebukes a man, afterwards shall find more favour than he that flatters with the tongue.
Cae mejor el que sabe reprender que el que sólo sabe lisonjear.
24 ¶ Whosoever robs his father or his mother and says, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of the destroyer.
El que roba a su padre o a su madre, y alega que no ha hecho mal, es amigo de gente nociva.
25 ¶ He that is of a proud heart stirs up strife, but he that puts his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
El que es altanero suscita contiendas, pero el que confía en el Señor prospera.
26 ¶ He that trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whosoever walks in wisdom, he shall be saved.
Es de necios confiar en el propio corazón; el que camina sabiamente saldrá bien librado.
27 ¶ He that gives unto the poor shall never lack, but he that hides his eyes from the poor shall have many a curse.
El que da al pobre, nunca a pobre llegará; el que se niega a verlo, será maldecido.
28 ¶ When the wicked rise, sane men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous multiply.
Si los malvados triunfan, la gente se esconde; pero cuando mueren, los justos florecen.
