1 ¶ O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good; for his mercy endures for ever.

¡Alabemos al Señor, porque él es bueno; porque su misericordia es constante!

2 L et the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy

Que lo afirmen los redimidos por Dios, los que salvó del poderoso enemigo,

3 a nd gathered them out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.

los que reunió desde lejanas tierras, Del oriente y del occidente, Del norte y del sur.

4 T hey wandered lost in the wilderness, alone and out of the way; they found no city to dwell in.

Perdidos en el desierto, no hallaban un camino que los llevara a una ciudad habitable.

5 H ungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

Andaban hambrientos y sedientos, con el alma a punto de desfallecer.

6 T hen they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

En su angustia, clamaron al Señor, y él los libró de sus aflicciones,

7 A nd he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

los guió por un buen camino, hasta encontrar una ciudad habitable.

8 O h that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam!

¡Alabemos la misericordia del Señor y sus grandes hechos en favor de los mortales!

9 F or he satisfies the soul that is destitute and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

El Señor sacia la sed del sediento, y colma con buena comida al hambriento.

10 ¶ Such as sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and in irons,

Algunos vivían en profunda oscuridad, prisioneros de la aflicción y las cadenas,

11 b ecause they rebelled against the words of God and condemned the counsel of the most High:

pues fueron rebeldes a los mandatos de Dios y despreciaron los proyectos del Altísimo.

12 T herefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was no one to help.

Dios quebrantó su orgullo con trabajos pesados; caían, y no había quien los levantara.

13 T hen they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

Pero en su angustia clamaron al Señor, y él los salvó de toda su aflicción;

14 H e brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke their bonds asunder.

los sacó de la profunda oscuridad, y puso fin a su aflicción y sus cadenas.

15 O h that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam!

¡Alabemos la misericordia del Señor, y sus grandes hechos en favor de los mortales!

16 F or he has broken the gates of brass and cut the bars of iron asunder.

Él destruye las puertas de bronce, y despedaza los cerrojos de hierro.

17 ¶ The fools, because of the way of their rebellion, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted.

Obstinados en su conducta rebelde, y afligidos por causa de sus maldades,

18 T heir soul abhorred all manner of food, and they drew near unto the gates of death.

llegaron a aborrecer toda clase de alimento; ¡ya tocaban a las puertas de la muerte!

19 T hen they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

Pero en su angustia clamaron al Señor, Y él los libró de su aflicción.

20 H e sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their graves.

Con el poder de su palabra los sanó, y los libró de caer en el sepulcro.

21 O h that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam!

¡Alabemos la misericordia del Señor, y sus grandes hechos en favor de los mortales!

22 A nd let them offer the sacrifices of praise and publish his works with singing.

¡Ofrezcámosle sacrificios de gratitud, y jubilosos proclamemos sus obras!

23 ¶ Those that go down to the sea in ships that do work in many waters,

Los marinos, que conocen el mar, con sus naves comercian en muchos lugares.

24 t hese have seen the works of the LORD and his wonders in the deep.

Allí, en lo profundo del mar, han visto las maravillosas obras del Señor.

25 F or he commands and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves.

Él habló, y se desató un viento tempestuoso, y gigantescas olas se encresparon.

26 T hey mount up to the heavens; they go down again to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble.

Se levantaban hacia el cielo, o se hundían en el mar; y ellos se desanimaban y temblaban de miedo.

27 T hey reel to and fro and stagger like a drunken man, and all of their knowledge is of no avail.

Inseguros, daban traspiés, como ebrios; ¡de nada les servía toda su pericia!

28 T hen they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivers them out of their afflictions.

Pero en su angustia clamaron al Señor, Y él los libró de su aflicción:

29 H e makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still.

convirtió la tempestad en bonanza, y apaciguó las amenazantes olas.

30 T hen they are glad because they are at rest; so he brings them into the haven of his will.

Ante esa calma, sonrieron felices porque él los lleva a puerto seguro.

31 O h that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam!

¡Alabemos la misericordia del Señor, y sus grandes hechos en favor de los mortales!

32 L et them exalt him also in the congregation of the people and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

¡Que lo exalte el pueblo congregado! ¡Que lo alabe el consejo de ancianos!

33 ¶ He turned rivers into a wilderness and the watersprings into dry ground;

El Señor convierte ríos y manantiales, en sequedades y áridos desiertos;

34 t he fruitful land into salt flats, because of the wickedness of those that dwell therein.

por la maldad de sus habitantes deja estéril la tierra generosa;

35 H e turns the wilderness into reservoirs of water and dry ground into watersprings.

convierte el desierto en lagunas, y la tierra seca en manantiales.

36 A nd there he makes the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation

Allí se establecen los que sufren de hambre, y fundan ciudades donde puedan vivir.

37 a nd sow the fields and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.

Luego siembran los campos, y plantan sus viñas, y recogen abundantes cosechas.

38 H e blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly and suffers not their cattle to decrease.

Dios los bendice y les da muchos hijos, y no deja que sus ganados se reduzcan.

39 A gain, they are diminished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.

Pero si disminuyen y son humillados, es por causa de la opresión, la maldad y la congoja.

40 H e pours contempt upon princes and causes them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way.

Pero el Señor desprecia a los tiranos, y los hace perderse en desiertos sin camino.

41 Y et he sets the poor on high from affliction and makes his families like a flock.

El Señor rescata al pobre de su miseria, y multiplica sus hijos como rebaños de ovejas.

42 T he righteous shall see it and rejoice, and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

Al ver esto, los fieles se alegran, y los malvados guardan silencio.

43 W ho is wise and will observe these things and shall understand the mercies of the LORD?

Si hay alguien sabio, que cumpla con esto, y que entienda que el Señor es misericordioso.
