1 ¶ Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz, the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father’s stead in Jerusalem.

Apoi poporul ţării l-a luat pe Iehoahaz, fiul lui Iosia, şi l-a făcut rege în locul tatălui său, la Ierusalim. Domnia lui Ioahaz peste Iuda

2 J ehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.

Iehoahaz era în vârstă de douăzeci şi trei de ani când a devenit rege şi a domnit la Ierusalim timp de trei luni.

3 A nd the king of Egypt put him down at Jerusalem and condemned the land in one hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.

Monarhul Egiptului l-a detronat la Ierusalim şi a pus peste ţară un tribut de o sută de talanţi de argint şi un talant de aur.

4 A nd the king of Egypt made Eliakim, his brother, king over Judah and Jerusalem and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz, his brother, and carried him to Egypt.

Monarhul Egiptului l-a pus rege peste Iuda şi Ierusalim, pe Eliachim, fratele lui Iehoahaz, şi i-a schimbat numele în Iehoiachim. Iar pe fratele său, Iehoahaz, Neco l-a luat şi l-a dus în Egipt. Domnia lui Iehoiachim peste Iuda

5 J ehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem, and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.

Iehoiachim era în vârstă de douăzeci şi cinci de ani când a devenit rege şi a domnit la Ierusalim timp de unsprezece ani. El a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului, Dumnezeul său.

6 A nd Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came up against him and bound him with fetters of brass; he carried him to Babylon.

Împotriva lui a pornit la război Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului. Acesta l-a legat cu lanţuri de bronz ca să-l ducă în Babilon.

7 N ebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon and put them in his temple at Babylon.

Nebucadneţar a dus în Babilon şi din vasele Casei Domnului şi le-a pus în palatul său din Babilon.

8 N ow the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim and his abominations which he did and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah; and Jehoiachin, his son, reigned in his stead.

Celelalte fapte ale lui Iehoiachim, toate urâciunile pe care le-a săvârşit şi ceea ce a fost găsit împotriva lui, sunt scrise în „Cartea regilor lui Israel şi ai lui Iuda“. În locul lui a domnit fiul său Iehoiachin. Domnia lui Iehoiachin peste Iuda

9 J ehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem; and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

Iehoiachin era în vârstă de optsprezece ani când a devenit rege şi a domnit la Ierusalim timp de trei luni şi zece zile. El a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului.

10 A nd when the year was expired, King Nebuchadnezzar sent and caused him to be brought to Babylon with the precious vessels of the house of the LORD and made Zedekiah, his brother, king over Judah and Jerusalem.

În anul următor, împăratul Nebucadneţar a trimis să-l aducă la Babilon împreună cu obiectele scumpe ale Casei Domnului, iar în locul lui l-a pus rege peste Iuda şi peste Ierusalim pe unchiul său, Zedechia. Domnia lui Zedechia peste Iuda

11 ¶ Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign and reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.

Zedechia era în vârstă de douăzeci şi unu de ani când a devenit rege şi a domnit la Ierusalim timp de unsprezece ani.

12 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God and did not humble himself before Jeremiah, the prophet, who spoke unto him from the mouth of the LORD.

El a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului, Dumnezeul său, şi nu s-a smerit înaintea profetului Ieremia care vorbea din partea Domnului.

13 H e rebelled, likewise, against King Nebuchadnezzar, unto whom he had sworn by God; but he stiffened his neck and hardened his heart from turning unto the LORD God of Israel.

S-a răzvrătit chiar împotriva împăratului Nebucadneţar care-l pusese să jure pe Dumnezeu. S-a încăpăţânat şi şi-a împietrit inima ca să nu se întoarcă la Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel.

14 M oreover, all the princes of the priests and the people increased the rebellion, rebelling according to all the abominations of the Gentiles and polluting the house of the LORD which he had sanctified in Jerusalem.

Toate căpeteniile preoţilor, precum şi poporul şi-au înmulţit şi ei nelegiuirile, luându-se după toate obiceiurile idolatre ale neamurilor şi au pângărit Casa Domnului, pe care El o sfinţise la Ierusalim.

15 A nd the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by the hand of his messengers, rising up early, and sending because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place.

Domnul, Dumnezeul strămoşilor lor, Şi-a trimis tot timpul mesagerii la ei, i-a trimis pentru că Îi era milă de poporul Lui şi de Lăcaşul Său.

16 B ut they mocked the messengers of God and despised his words and misused his prophets until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, and there was no remedy.

Ei însă i-au luat în derâdere pe mesagerii lui Dumnezeu, I-au dispreţuit cuvintele şi I-au batjocorit profeţii, până când mânia Domnului faţă de poporul Său a ajuns fără leac. Căderea Ierusalimului

17 T herefore, he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age; he gave them all into his hands.

Domnul l-a ridicat împotriva lor pe împăratul caldeenilor. El le-a ucis tinerii cu sabia chiar în Lăcaşul lor. Nu a avut milă nici de feciori, nici de fecioare, nici de bătrâni, nici de gârbovi. Domnul i-a dat pe toţi în mâna sa.

18 L ikewise, all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.

Toate vasele Casei lui Dumnezeu, mari şi mici, tezaurul Casei Domnului, bogăţiile regelui şi ale căpeteniilor sale, pe toate le-a dus în Babilon.

19 A nd they burnt the house of God and broke down the wall of Jerusalem and burnt all its palaces with fire and destroyed all its desirable vessels.

Au dat foc Casei lui Dumnezeu, au dărâmat zidul Ierusalimului, au dat foc tuturor palatelor şi au distrus toate vasele preţioase.

20 A nd those that escaped from the sword he carried away to Babylon; where they were slaves to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia,

Pe cei ce au scăpat de sabie, i-a dus în captivitate la Babilon, iar aceştia au devenit sclavii lui şi ai fiilor lui, până când a ajuns la putere împărăţia Persiei,

21 t o fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah until the land had fulfilled her sabbaths; for all the time of her desolation she rested until the seventy years were fulfilled.

adică până când ţara s-a bucurat de Sabatele ei, împlinindu-se astfel Cuvântul Domnului spus prin Ieremia. Tot timpul cât a rămas pustiită, ţara s-a odihnit până când s-au împlinit şaptezeci de ani. Edictul de repatriere a evreilor

22 ¶ But in the first year of Cyrus, king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus, king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and put it also in writing, saying,

În primul an al domniei lui Cirus, împăratul Persiei, ca să se împlinească Cuvântul Domnului spus prin Ieremia, Domnul a trezit duhul lui Cirus, împăratul Persiei, şi acesta a pus să se vestească prin viu grai şi prin scrisori în toată împărăţia sa următoarele:

23 T hus saith Cyrus, king of Persia, The LORD God of the heavens has given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he has charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? Let the LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.

„Aşa vorbeşte Cirus, împăratul Persiei: « Domnul, Dumnezeul cerurilor, Care mi-a dat toate regatele pământului, m-a numit să-I zidesc o Casă la Ierusalim, în Iuda. Cine dintre voi este din poporul Lui? Domnul, Dumnezeul lui, să fie cu el! Lăsaţi-l să plece!»“
