1 ¶ Paul, slave of Jesus, the Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God

Pavel, rob al lui Cristos Isus, chemat să fie apostol, pus deoparte pentru Evanghelia lui Dumnezeu,

2 ( which he had promised before by his prophets in the holy scriptures)

pe care El o promisese mai dinainte prin profeţii Săi în Sfintele Scripturi

3 o f his Son (who was born unto him of the seed of David according to the flesh,

şi care se referă la Fiul Său – născut din sămânţa lui David, în ce priveşte trupul,

4 w ho was declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of sanctification, by the resurrection from the dead), of Jesus, the Christ, our Lord.

iar în ce priveşte Duhul sfinţeniei, dovedit cu putere că este Fiul lui Dumnezeu, prin învierea dintre cei morţi – adică la Isus Cristos, Domnul nostru,

5 B y whom we have received the grace and the apostleship, to cause the faith to be obeyed among all the Gentiles in his name,

prin Care am primit harul şi apostolatul, ca să aducem, de dragul Numelui Său, la ascultarea credinţei pe toate neamurile,

6 a mong whom ye are also the called of Jesus Christ;

între care sunteţi şi voi, cei chemaţi să fiţi ai lui Isus Cristos.

7 t o all that are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints; ye have grace and peace of God our Father and of the Lord Jesus, the Christ.

Deci, tuturor celor care sunt preaiubiţi ai lui Dumnezeu în Roma, chemaţi să fie sfinţi: har şi pace de la Dumnezeu, Tatăl nostru, şi de la Domnul Isus Cristos! Dorinţa lui Pavel de a vizita Roma

8 ¶ First, I thank my God through Jesus, the Christ, regarding you all, that your faith is preached in all the world.

Mai întâi, Îi mulţumesc Dumnezeului meu, prin Isus Cristos, pentru voi toţi, întrucât credinţa voastră este vestită în întreaga lume.

9 F or God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I always remember you in my prayers,

Căci Dumnezeu, Căruia Îi slujesc în duhul meu, în Evanghelia Fiului Său, îmi este martor că îmi aduc aminte neîncetat de voi,

10 m aking request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.

cerând întotdeauna în rugăciunile mele ca, cel puţin acum, prin voia lui Dumnezeu, să reuşesc să vin la voi.

11 F or I long to see you that I may impart with you some spiritual gift to confirm you,

Căci tânjesc să vă văd, ca să vă fac parte de vreun dar duhovnicesc spre întărirea voastră,

12 t hat is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

pentru ca atât voi, cât şi eu, să fim încurajaţi în acelaşi timp – voi prin credinţa mea, iar eu prin a voastră.

13 N ow I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that many times I purposed to come unto you (but up until now I have been unable) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.

Nu vreau să nu ştiţi, fraţilor, că de multe ori mi-am propus să vin la voi, ca să am şi printre voi vreun rod, tot aşa cum am şi printre celelalte neamuri, dar până acum am fost împiedicat.

14 I am debtor both to the Greeks and to the Barbarians; both to the wise and to the unwise.

Eu sunt dator atât grecilor, cât şi barbarilor, atât celor înţelepţi, cât şi celor neştiutori,

15 S o, as much as in me is, I am ready to announce the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

astfel că, în ce mă priveşte pe mine, sunt dornic să vă predic Evanghelia şi vouă, celor din Roma. Puterea Evangheliei

16 ¶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of the Christ; for it is the power of God to give saving health to every one that believes: to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Căci mie nu mi-e ruşine de Evanghelie, fiindcă ea este puterea lui Dumnezeu pentru mântuirea fiecăruia care crede – întâi a iudeului, apoi a grecului –,

17 F or in him is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

deoarece în ea este descoperită o dreptate oferită de Dumnezeu, care vine din credinţă şi care duce la credinţă, aşa cum este scris: „Cel drept va trăi prin credinţă.“ Mânia lui Dumnezeu împotriva nedreptăţii

18 F or the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and injustice of men, who hold back the truth with injustice;

Căci mânia lui Dumnezeu se descoperă din cer împotriva oricărei lipse de evlavie şi împotriva oricărei nedreptăţi a oamenilor, care înăbuşă adevărul în nedreptate.

19 ¶ because that which is known of God is manifest to them; for God has showed it unto them.

Fiindcă ce se poate cunoaşte despre Dumnezeu le este descoperit în ei, căci Dumnezeu le-a arătat.

20 F or the invisible things of him, his eternal power and divinity, are clearly understood by the creation of the world and by the things that are made so that there is no excuse;

De la crearea lumii, însuşirile Lui invizibile – puterea Lui veşnică şi dumnezeirea Lui – au fost percepute clar, fiind înţelese din ceea ce a fost creat, pentru ca ei să fie fără scuză,

21 b ecause having known God, they did not glorify him as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

fiindcă, deşi L-au cunoscut pe Dumnezeu, ei nu L-au slăvit ca Dumnezeu şi nici nu I-au mulţumit, şi astfel gândirea lor a devenit fără folos, iar mintea lor nesăbuită s-a întunecat.

22 P rofessing themselves to be wise, they became fools

Pretinzând că sunt înţelepţi, au înnebunit

23 a nd exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man and of birds and of fourfooted beasts and of serpents.

şi au schimbat slava Dumnezeului nemuritor într-o imagine făcută după asemănarea omului muritor, a păsărilor, a patrupedelor şi a animalelor care se târăsc.

24 T herefore God also gave them over to the lusts of their own hearts for uncleanness, to contaminate their own bodies between themselves,

De aceea, Dumnezeu i-a lăsat pradă necurăţiei, ca să urmeze poftele inimilor lor, dezonorându-şi astfel trupurile între ei.

25 w ho changed the truth of God into a lie and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for all ages. Amen.

Ei au schimbat adevărul lui Dumnezeu într-o minciună şi s-au închinat şi au slujit creaţiei în locul Creatorului, Care este binecuvântat în veci. Amin!

26 F or this cause God gave them up unto shameful affections, for even their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature;

Din pricina aceasta, Dumnezeu i-a lăsat pradă viciilor ruşinoase, căci femeile lor au schimbat relaţiile intime naturale cu unele care sunt contrare naturii;

27 a nd likewise also the males, leaving the natural use of the females, burned in their lust one toward another, males with males committing nefarious works and receiving in themselves the recompense that proceeded from their error.

tot astfel şi bărbaţii, au părăsit relaţiile intime naturale cu femeile şi s-au aprins de poftă unii pentru alţii, săvârşind lucruri scârboase unii cu alţii şi primind astfel în ei înşişi răsplata pe care o meritau pentru rătăcirea lor.

28 A nd even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a perverse understanding, to do those things which are not convenient,

Şi fiindcă n-au încuviinţat să-L aibă pe Dumnezeu în cunoaşterea lor, Dumnezeu i-a lăsat pradă minţii lor corupte, ca să facă lucruri ce nu se cuvin.

29 b eing filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Sunt plini de orice fel de nedreptate, de nelegiuire, de lăcomie, de răutate; sunt plini de invidie, ucidere, ceartă, înşelătorie, sunt duşmănoşi, şoptitori,

30 b ackbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

bârfitori, Îl urăsc pe Dumnezeu, sunt obraznici, aroganţi, lăudăroşi, născocitori de rele, neascultători de părinţi,

31 w ithout understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, without mercy.

necugetaţi, nu-şi ţin promisiunile, sunt fără afecţiune, nemiloşi.

32 W ho having understood the righteousness of God, they did not understand that those who do such things are worthy of death, not only those that do the same, but even those who encourage those that do them.

Şi, deşi cunosc hotărârea lui Dumnezeu, potrivit căreia cei ce înfăptuiesc astfel de lucruri sunt vrednici de moarte, ei nu numai că le fac, ci îi şi încuviinţează pe cei ce le înfăptuiesc.
