1 ¶ My son, forget not my law, but let thine heart keep my commandments:

HIJO mío, no te olvides de mi ley; Y tu corazón guarde mis mandamientos:

2 F or they shall add length of days and long life and peace unto thee.

Porque largura de días, y años de vida Y paz te aumentarán.

3 L et not mercy and truth forsake thee; bind them about thy neck; write them upon the tablet of thine heart:

Misericordia y verdad no te desamparen; Atalas á tu cuello, Escríbelas en la tabla de tu corazón:

4 S o shalt thou find grace and good favour in the sight of God and man.

Y hallarás gracia y buena opinión En los ojos de Dios y de los hombres.

5 T rust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Fíate de Jehová de todo tu corazón, Y no estribes en tu prudencia.

6 I n all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Reconócelo en todos tus caminos, Y él enderezará tus veredas.

7 ¶ Be not wise in thine own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil.

No seas sabio en tu opinión: Teme á Jehová, y apártate del mal;

8 I t shall be medicine to thy navel and marrow to thy bones.

Porque será medicina á tu ombligo, Y tuétano á tus huesos.

9 H onour the LORD with thy substance and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

Honra á Jehová de tu sustancia, Y de las primicias de todos tus frutos;

10 S o shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

Y serán llenas tus trojes con abundancia, Y tus lagares rebosarán de mosto.

11 M y son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

No deseches, hijo mío, el castigo de Jehová; Ni te fatigues de su corrección:

12 F or the LORD chastens whom he loves and delights in, even as a father to his son.

Porque al que ama castiga, Como el padre al hijo á quien quiere.

13 ¶ Blessed is the man that has found wisdom and who brings to light intelligence,

Bienaventurado el hombre que halla la sabiduría, Y que obtiene la inteligencia:

14 f or the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver and the fruits thereof more than fine gold.

Porque su mercadería es mejor que la mercadería de la plata, Y sus frutos más que el oro fino.

15 S he is more precious than precious stones, and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

Más preciosa es que las piedras preciosas; Y todo lo que puedes desear, no se puede comparar á ella.

16 L ength of days is in her right hand and in her left hand riches and honour.

Largura de días está en su mano derecha; En su izquierda riquezas y honra.

17 H er ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

Sus caminos son caminos deleitosos, Y todas sus veredas paz.

18 S he is a tree of life to those that lay hold upon her, and blessed is every one that retains her.

Ella es árbol de vida á los que de ella asen: Y bienaventurados son los que la mantienen.

19 T he LORD by wisdom has founded the earth; by intelligence has he established the heavens.

Jehová con sabiduría fundó la tierra; Afirmó los cielos con inteligencia.

20 B y his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the heavens drop down the dew.

Con su ciencia se partieron los abismos, Y destilan el rocío los cielos.

21 ¶ My son, do not let them depart from thine eyes; keep sound wisdom and discretion,

Hijo mío, no se aparten estas cosas de tus ojos; Guarda la ley y el consejo;

22 s o shall they be life unto thy soul and grace to thy neck.

Y serán vida á tu alma, Y gracia á tu cuello.

23 T hen shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

Entonces andarás por tu camino confiadamente, Y tu pie no tropezará.

24 W hen thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Cuando te acostares, no tendrás temor; Antes te acostarás, y tu sueño será suave.

25 T hou shall not be afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked when it comes.

No tendrás temor de pavor repentino, Ni de la ruina de los impíos cuando viniere:

26 F or the LORD shall be thy confidence and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

Porque Jehová será tu confianza, Y él preservará tu pie de ser preso.

27 ¶ Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

No detengas el bien de sus dueños, Cuando tuvieres poder para hacerlo.

28 D o not say unto thy neighbour, Go and come again and tomorrow I will give when thou hast it by thee.

No digas á tu prójimo: Ve, y vuelve, Y mañana te daré; Cuando tienes contigo qué darle.

29 D o not devise evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwells securely by thee.

No intentes mal contra tu prójimo, Estando él confiado de ti.

30 D o not sue a man without cause, if he has done thee no harm.

No pleitees con alguno sin razón, Si él no te ha hecho agravio.

31 E nvy thou not the oppressor and choose none of his ways.

No envidies al hombre injusto, Ni escojas alguno de sus caminos.

32 F or the perverse is an abomination to the LORD; but his secret is with the righteous.

Porque el perverso es abominado de Jehová: Mas su secreto es con los rectos.

33 T he curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked, but he shall bless the habitation of the just.

La maldición de Jehová está en la casa del impío; Mas él bendecirá la morada de los justos.

34 S urely he scorns the scorners; but he gives grace unto the humble.

Ciertamente él escarnecerá á los escarnecedores, Y á los humildes dará gracia.

35 T he wise shall inherit glory; but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

Los sabios heredarán honra: Mas los necios sostendrán ignominia.
