1 ¶ Furthermore, Elihu answered and said,

ADEMAS respondió Eliú, y dijo:

2 H ear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.

Oid, sabios, mis palabras; Y vosotros, doctos, estadme atentos.

3 F or the ear tries words, as the mouth tastes food.

Porque el oído prueba las palabras, Como el paladar gusta para comer.

4 L et us choose our judgment; let us know among ourselves what is good.

Escojamos para nosotros el juicio, Conozcamos entre nosotros cuál sea lo bueno;

5 F or Job has said, I am righteous; and God has taken away my right.

Porque Job ha dicho: Yo soy justo, Y Dios me ha quitado mi derecho.

6 I n my judgment he was a liar, my arrow wound is grievous without my having committed a transgression.

¿He de mentir yo contra mi razón? Mi saeta es gravosa sin haber yo prevaricado.

7 W hat man is like Job, who drinks up the scorn like water?

¿Qué hombre hay como Job, Que bebe el escarnio como agua?

8 W ho goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men.

Y va en compañía con los que obran iniquidad, Y anda con los hombres maliciosos.

9 F or he said, It shall profit a man nothing that he should conform his will with God.

Porque ha dicho: De nada servirá al hombre El conformar su voluntad con Dios.

10 ¶ Therefore, hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

Por tanto, varones de seso, oidme; Lejos esté de Dios la impiedad, Y del Omnipotente la iniquidad.

11 F or he shall pay man according to his work and cause every man to find according to his ways.

Porque él pagará al hombre según su obra, Y él le hará hallar conforme á su camino.

12 Y ea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.

Sí, por cierto, Dios no hará injusticia, Y el Omnipotente no pervertirá el derecho.

13 W ho visited the earth for him? And who set the whole world in order?

¿Quién visitó por él la tierra? ¿Y quién puso en orden todo el mundo?

14 I f he were to set his heart upon man and gather unto himself his spirit and his breath,

Si él pusiese sobre el hombre su corazón, Y recogiese así su espíritu y su aliento,

15 a ll flesh would perish together, and man would turn again unto dust.

Toda carne perecería juntamente, Y el hombre se tornaría en polvo.

16 ¶ If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.

Si pues hay en ti entendimiento, oye esto: Escucha la voz de mis palabras.

17 S hall even he that hates judgment govern? And wilt thou condemn the Mighty One that is righteous?

¿Enseñorearáse el que aborrece juicio? ¿Y condenarás tú al que es tan justo?

18 I s it fit to say to the king, Thou art of Belial and to the princes, Ye are ungodly?

¿Hase de decir al rey: Perverso; Y á los príncipes: Impíos?

19 H ow much less to him who is not a respecter of the persons of princes, nor respects the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.

¿Cuánto menos á aquel que no hace acepción de personas de príncipes, Ni el rico es de él más respetado que el pobre? Porque todos son obras de sus manos.

20 I n a moment they shall die, and the peoples shall be troubled at midnight and shall pass away; and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.

En un momento morirán, y á media noche Se alborotarán los pueblos, y pasarán, Y sin mano será quitado el poderoso.

21 F or his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he sees all his steps.

Porque sus ojos están sobre los caminos del hombre, Y ve todos sus pasos.

22 T here is no darkness nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

No hay tinieblas ni sombra de muerte Donde se encubran los que obran maldad.

23 F or he will not lay upon man more than that which is just; that he should enter into judgment with God.

No carga pues él al hombre más de lo justo, Para que vaya con Dios á juicio.

24 H e shall break in pieces mighty men without number and set others in their stead.

El quebrantará á los fuertes sin pesquisa, Y hará estar otros en su lugar.

25 T herefore, he shall cause their works to be notorious, when he shall overturn them in the night, so that they are destroyed.

Por tanto él hará notorias las obras de ellos, Cuando los trastornará en la noche, y serán quebrantados.

26 H e shall strike them as wicked men in the open sight of others

Como á malos los herirá En lugar donde sean vistos:

27 b ecause thus they turned back from him and would not consider any of his ways

Por cuanto así se apartaron de él, Y no consideraron todos sus caminos;

28 s o that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he hears the cry of the afflicted.

Haciendo venir delante de él el clamor del pobre, Y que oiga el clamor de los necesitados.

29 W hen he gives rest, who then can make trouble? If he hides his face, who then can behold him? This applies to a nation and the same to a man,

Y si él diere reposo, ¿quién inquietará? Si escondiere el rostro, ¿quién lo mirará? Esto sobre una nación, y lo mismo sobre un hombre;

30 t hat the hypocrite not reign, lest the people be ensnared.

Haciendo que no reine el hombre hipócrita Para vejaciones del pueblo.

31 ¶ For it is of God to say, I have forgiven, I will no longer destroy.

De seguro conviene se diga á Dios: Llevado he ya castigo, no más ofenderé:

32 T each me that which I do not see; if I have done iniquity, I will do it no more.

Enséñame tú lo que yo no veo: Que si hice mal, no lo haré más.

33 W ill he, perchance finish his work by thee; whether thou refuse or whether thou choose, or by me? Speak what thou knowest.

¿Ha de ser eso según tu mente? El te retribuirá, ora rehuses, Ora aceptes, y no yo: Di si no, lo que tú sabes.

34 T he men of understanding will say as I say, and the wise man will hearken unto me.

Los hombres de seso dirán conmigo, Y el hombre sabio me oirá:

35 J ob has spoken without knowledge, and his words were without prudence.

Que Job no habla con sabiduría, Y que sus palabras no son con entendimiento.

36 M y desire is that Job may be tried unto the end, that there may be answers against wicked men.

Deseo yo que Job sea probado ampliamente, A causa de sus respuestas por los hombres inicuos.

37 F or he added rebellion unto his sin, he claps his hands among us and multiplies his words against God.

Porque á su pecado añadió impiedad: Bate las manos entre nosotros, Y contra Dios multiplica sus palabras.
