1 ¡ Bendice, alma mía, al Señor! ¡Cuán grande eres, Señor mi Dios! ¡Estás rodeado de gloria y de esplendor!

¶ Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty,

2 ¡ Te has revestido de luz, como de una vestidura! ¡Extiendes los cielos como una cortina!

who dost cover thyself with light as with a garment, who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain,

3 ¡ Dispones tus mansiones sobre las aguas! ¡Las nubes son tu lujoso carruaje, y te transportas sobre las alas del viento!

who dost establish his chambers between the waters, who makes the clouds his chariot, who walks upon the wings of the wind,

4 ¡ Los vientos son tus mensajeros! ¡Las llamas de fuego están a tu servicio!

who makes his angels spirits, his ministers a flaming fire,

5 T ú afirmaste la tierra sobre sus cimientos, y de allí nada los moverá.

who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved by any age.

6 ¡ Con las aguas del abismo la cubriste! Las aguas se detuvieron sobre los montes,

Thou didst cover it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.

7 p ero las reprendiste, y huyeron; al escuchar tu voz, bajaron presurosas.

At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.

8 S ubieron a los montes, bajaron por los valles, al sitio que les habías destinado.

The mountains were exposed; they descended through the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.

9 L es pusiste un límite, que no debían cruzar, para que no volvieran a cubrir la tierra.

Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over, that they not turn again to cover the earth.

10 T ú llenas las fuentes con los arroyos que corren ligeros entre los montes;

¶ Thou art he who sends the springs into the valleys, which run among the mountains.

11 a llí apagan su sed los animales salvajes; allí los asnos monteses mitigan su sed.

They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild asses quench their thirst.

12 E n sus riberas anidan las aves del cielo, y entre las ramas se escuchan sus trinos.

Next to them the fowls of the heavens have their habitation; they sing among the leaves.

13 D esde las alturas riegas los montes, y la tierra se sacia con el fruto de tus obras.

He waters the mountains from his chambers; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.

14 H aces crecer la hierba para los ganados, y las plantas que el hombre cultiva para sacar de la tierra el pan que come

He causes the hay to grow for the cattle and grass for the service of man, that he may bring forth bread out of the earth

15 y el vino que le alegra el corazón, el aceite que da brillo a su rostro, y el pan que sustenta su vida.

and wine that makes glad the heart of man, making his face to shine with oil and bread which sustains man’s heart.

16 S e llenan de savia los árboles del Señor, los cedros del Líbano que él mismo plantó.

The trees of the LORD are satisfied; the cedars of Lebanon, which he has planted,

17 E n sus ramas anidan las aves; en las hayas hacen su nido las cigüeñas;

that the birds may make their nests there: the stork makes her house among the fir trees.

18 e n las altas montañas retozan las cabras monteses; en las peñas se resguardan los damanes.

The high mountains are a refuge for the wild goats, and the rocks for the conies.

19 T ú hiciste la luna para medir los tiempos; el sol sabe cuándo debe ocultarse.

¶ He appointed the moon for times and seasons; the sun knows his going down.

20 D ejas caer las sombras, y anochece; y entonces corretean los animales salvajes.

Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest move.

21 R ugen los leones que van tras su presa, y reclaman la comida que Dios les provee.

The young lions roar after their prey and seek their food from God.

22 C uando sale el sol, corren a sus cuevas y satisfechos se tienden a descansar.

The sun arises, they withdraw and lay themselves down in their dens.

23 S ale entonces el hombre a sus labores, y trabaja hasta que cae la noche.

Man goes forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.

24 ¡ Tus obras, Señor, son innumerables! ¡Todas las hiciste con gran sabiduría! ¡La tierra está llena de tus criaturas!

O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom thou hast made them all; the earth is full of thy riches.

25 ¡ Vean el vasto mar! ¡Contemplen su grandeza! En él se mueven incontables seres vivos, lo mismo grandes que pequeños.

So is this great and wide sea, wherein are innumerable creeping things, both small and great beasts.

26 A llí navegan las grandes naves; allí está Leviatán, que creaste para jugar con él.

There go the ships; there is that leviathan, whom thou didst make to play therein.

27 T odos los seres esperan de ti que a su tiempo les des de comer.

These wait all upon thee, that thou may give them their food in due season.

28 S i abres tu mano y les das su pan, ellos lo toman y quedan satisfechos.

Thou givest unto them, they gather; thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.

29 S i te escondes de ellos, se desconciertan; si les retiras su espíritu, mueren y vuelven al polvo.

Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; thou takest away their spirit, they cease to exist and return to their dust.

30 P ero si envías tu espíritu, vuelven a la vida, y así renuevas la faz de la tierra.

Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created; and thou renewest the face of the earth.

31 ¡ Sea tu gloria eterna, Señor! ¡Que te regocijen las obras que has hecho!

¶ Let the glory of the LORD endure for ever; let the LORD rejoice in his works.

32 S i miras la tierra, ésta tiembla; si tocas los montes, éstos echan humo.

He looks on the earth, and it trembles: he touches the mountains, and they smoke.

33 S eñor, ¡toda mi vida te cantaré! Dios mío, ¡yo te cantaré salmos mientras viva!

I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

34 S eñor, dígnate agradarte de mis pensamientos, pues yo hallo en ti mi alegría.

My meditation of him shall be sweet; I will be glad in the LORD.

35 Q ue sean borrados de la tierra los malvados; ¡que dejen de existir los malhechores! ¡Bendice, alma mía, al Señor! ¡Aleluya!

Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Halelu- JAH (Praise ye the LORD).
