1 S eñor y Dios nuestro, ¡cuán glorioso es tu nombre en toda la tierra! ¡Has puesto tu gloria sobre los cielos!

¶ O LORD our Lord, how great is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy praise above the heavens.

2 L as alabanzas de los niños de pecho son tu mejor defensa contra tus enemigos; ellas silencian a tus vengativos adversarios.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou might still the enemy and the avenger.

3 C uando contemplo el cielo, obra de tus dedos, y la luna y las estrellas que has creado,

¶ When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

4 m e pregunto: ¿Qué es el ser humano, para que en él pienses? ¿Qué es la humanidad, para que la tomes en cuenta?

what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou dost visit him?

5 H iciste al hombre poco menor que un dios, y lo colmaste de gloria y de honra.

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels and hast crowned him with glory and beauty.

6 ¡ Lo has hecho señor de las obras de tus manos! ¡todo lo has puesto debajo de sus pies!

Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

7 ¡ Todas las ovejas y todos los toros! ¡Todos los animales del bosque!

all sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

8 ¡ Las aves en el cielo y los peces en el mar! ¡Todo lo que surca las profundidades del mar!

The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, and whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

O LORD our Lord, how great is thy name in all the earth!
