1 C uando ya estaban cerca de Jerusalén, Betfagué y Betania, y frente al monte de los Olivos, Jesús envió a dos de sus discípulos

¶ And when they came near to Jerusalem unto Bethphage and Bethany at the mount of Olives, he sends forth two of his disciples

2 y les dijo: «Vayan a la aldea que tienen ante ustedes. Al entrar en ella, van a encontrar atado un burrito, sobre el cual nadie se ha montado. Desátenlo y tráiganlo acá.

and said unto them, Go to the place which is before you; and as soon as ye are entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, upon which no man ever sat; loose him and bring him.

3 S i alguien les pregunta: “¿Por qué hacen esto?”, respondan que el Señor lo necesita, y que muy pronto lo devolverá.»

And if anyone says unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord has need of him, and straightway he will send him here.

4 L os discípulos fueron, y en la calle, junto a una puerta, encontraron el burrito atado. Lo desataron.

And they went and found the colt tied by the door outside between two ways, and they loosed him.

5 A lgunos de los que estaban allí les preguntaron: «¿Qué hacen? ¿Por qué están desatando el burrito?»

And some of those that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?

6 E llos les respondieron lo que Jesús les había dicho, y los dejaron desatarlo.

Then they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded, and they let them go.

7 E llos llevaron a Jesús el burrito, sobre el que echaron sus mantos, y luego Jesús se montó sobre él.

They brought the colt to Jesus and cast their garments on him, and he sat upon him.

8 P or el camino, muchos tendían también sus mantos, mientras que otros cortaban ramas que habían cortado en el campo.

And many spread their garments in the way, and others cut down leaves off the trees and spread them in the way.

9 T anto los que iban delante como los que iban detrás gritaban: «¡Hosanna! ¡Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor!

And those that went before and those that followed cried out, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord;

10 ¡ Bendito el reino venidero de nuestro padre David! ¡Hosanna en las alturas!»

blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

11 J esús entró en Jerusalén y se dirigió al templo. Después de mirar todo a su alrededor, se fue a Betania con los doce, pues ya estaba anocheciendo. Maldición de la higuera estéril

And the Lord entered into Jerusalem and into the temple; and when he had looked around upon all things, and it being now late, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.

12 A l día siguiente, cuando salieron de Betania, Jesús tuvo hambre.

¶ And the next day when they left Bethany, he was hungry,

13 A l ver de lejos una higuera con hojas, fue a ver si hallaba en ella algún higo; pero al llegar no encontró en ella más que hojas, pues no era el tiempo de los higos.

and seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing upon her; but when he came to her, he found nothing but leaves, for the time of figs was not yet.

14 E ntonces Jesús le dijo a la higuera: «¡Que nadie vuelva a comer fruto de ti!» Y sus discípulos lo oyeron. Purificación del templo

Then Jesus, answering, said to the fig tree, Never again shall anyone eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

15 L legaron a Jerusalén. Y al entrar Jesús en el templo comenzó a echar de allí a los que vendían y compraban en su interior. Volcó las mesas de los cambistas y las sillas de los que vendían palomas,

And they come to Jerusalem, and Jesus, entering into the temple, began to cast out those that sold and bought in the temple and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those that sold doves

16 y no permitía que nadie atravesara el templo llevando algún utensilio;

and would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.

17 m ás bien, les enseñaba y les decía: «¿Acaso no está escrito: “Mi casa será llamada casa de oración para todas las naciones”? ¡Pero ustedes han hecho de ella una cueva de ladrones!»

And he taught them, saying, Is it not written that my house shall be called house of prayer by all the nations? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

18 C uando los escribas y los principales sacerdotes lo oyeron, comenzaron a buscar la manera de matarlo. Y es que le tenían miedo, pues toda la gente estaba admirada de sus enseñanzas.

And the scribes and the princes of the priests heard it and sought how they might kill him, for they feared him because all the multitude was astonished at his doctrine.

19 P ero al llegar la noche, Jesús salió de la ciudad. La higuera maldecida se seca

But when evening was come, Jesus went out of the city.

20 A la mañana siguiente, cuando pasaron cerca de la higuera, vieron que ésta se había secado de raíz.

And passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

21 P edro se acordó y le dijo: «¡Mira, Maestro! ¡La higuera que maldijiste se ha secado!»

Then Peter, remembering, said unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou didst curse is withered away.

22 J esús les dijo: «Tengan fe en Dios.

And Jesus, answering, said unto them, Have faith in God.

23 P orque de cierto les digo que cualquiera que diga a este monte: “¡Quítate de ahí y échate en el mar!”, su orden se cumplirá, siempre y cuando no dude en su corazón, sino que crea que se cumplirá.

For verily I say unto you that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Remove thyself and cast thyself into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart but shall believe that what he says shall be done whatsoever he says shall be done unto him.

24 P or tanto, les digo: Todo lo que pidan en oración, crean que lo recibirán, y se les concederá.

Therefore I say unto you that everything that ye ask for, praying, believe that ye receive it, and it shall come upon you.

25 Y cuando oren, si tienen algo contra alguien, perdónenlo, para que también su Padre que está en los cielos les perdone a ustedes sus ofensas.

And when ye are praying, forgive if ye have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in the heavens will also forgive you your trespasses.

26 P orque si ustedes no perdonan, tampoco su Padre que está en los cielos les perdonará a ustedes sus ofensas.» La autoridad de Jesús

For if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in the heavens forgive your trespasses.

27 V olvieron a Jerusalén. Y mientras Jesús andaba por el templo, los principales sacerdotes, los escribas y los ancianos se le acercaron

¶ And they returned to Jerusalem, and as he was walking in the temple, the princes of the priests and the scribes and the elders came

28 y le preguntaron: «¿Con qué autoridad haces todo esto? ¿Quién te dio autoridad para hacerlo?»

and said unto him, By what faculty doest thou these things? and who gave thee this faculty to do these things?

29 J esús les dijo: «Yo también voy a hacerles una pregunta. Si me la responden, entonces les diré con qué autoridad hago esto.

Then Jesus, answering, said unto them, I will also ask of you one word, and respond unto me, and I will tell you with what faculty I do these things.

30 D íganme: el bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo, o de los hombres?»

The baptism of John, was it of heaven or of men? Respond unto me.

31 E llos comenzaron a discutir entre sí: «Si decimos que era del cielo, él nos dirá: “Entonces, ¿por qué no le creyeron?”

Then they thought inside themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven, he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?

32 Y si decimos que era de los hombres...» Y es que tenían miedo de la gente, pues todos consideraban que Juan era un verdadero profeta.

But if we shall say, Of men, we fear the people, for everyone judged regarding John that he truly was a prophet.

33 E ntonces le respondieron a Jesús: «No lo sabemos.» Y Jesús les dijo: «Pues yo tampoco voy a decirles con qué autoridad hago todo esto.»

And answering, they said unto Jesus, We do not know. And Jesus, answering, said unto them, Neither shall I tell you with what faculty I do these things.
