1 T odos deben considerarnos servidores de Cristo y administradores de los misterios de Dios.

¶ Let us reckon men as ministers of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

2 A hora bien, de los administradores se espera que demuestren ser dignos de confianza.

Moreover, it is required in stewards that each one be found faithful.

3 P or mi parte, no me preocupa mucho ser juzgado por ustedes o por algún tribunal humano; es más, ni siquiera yo mismo me juzgo.

But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by man’s judgment; I do not even judge my own self.

4 Y aunque mi conciencia no me acusa de nada, no por eso quedo justificado; quien me juzga es el Señor.

For although I have nothing on my conscience, yet am I not hereby justified, but he that judges me is the Lord.

5 A sí que no juzguen ustedes nada antes de tiempo, hasta que venga el Señor, el cual sacará a la luz lo que esté escondido y pondrá al descubierto las intenciones de los corazones. Entonces Dios le dará a cada uno la alabanza que merezca.

Therefore, judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each one have praise of God.

6 P ero esto, hermanos, lo digo para su propio bien, y pongo como ejemplo a Apolos y a mí, para que de nuestro ejemplo aprendan a no pensar más allá de lo que está escrito, no sea que se envanezcan por favorecer a uno en perjuicio del otro.

And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes, that in us ye might not learn above that which is written, lest because of one, some of you become puffed up against others.

7 P orque ¿quién te hace superior? ¿O qué tienes que no hayas recibido? Y si lo recibiste, ¿por qué te jactas como si no te lo hubieran dado?

¶ For who makes thee to judge? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, what dost thou glory of, as if thou hadst not received it?

8 U stedes ya están satisfechos. Ya son ricos, y aun sin nosotros reinan. ¡Pues cómo quisiera yo que reinaran, para que también nosotros reináramos juntamente con ustedes!

Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye reign as kings without us, and I wish ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

9 L o que creo es que Dios nos ha exhibido a nosotros los apóstoles como si fuéramos lo último, ¡como si estuviéramos sentenciados a muerte! Hemos llegado a ser el hazmerreír del mundo, de los ángeles y de los hombres.

For I think that God has set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death; for we are made a spectacle unto the world and to angels and to men.

10 P or amor a Cristo, nosotros somos los insensatos, y ustedes los prudentes en Cristo; nosotros somos los débiles, y ustedes los fuertes; ustedes son respetados, y a nosotros se nos desprecia.

We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are prudent in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.

11 H asta el momento pasamos hambre, tenemos sed, andamos desnudos, nos abofetean, y no tenemos dónde vivir.

Even unto this present hour we both hunger and thirst and are ill clad and are buffeted and have no certain dwellingplace

12 T rabajamos hasta el cansancio con nuestras propias manos; nos maldicen, y bendecimos; nos persiguen, y soportamos la persecución;

and labour, working with our own hands; being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it;

13 n os difaman, y no nos ofendemos. Hemos llegado a ser como la escoria del mundo, como el desecho de todos.

being blasphemed, we intreat; we are made as the filth of this world and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.

14 N o escribo esto para avergonzarlos, sino para amonestarlos como a mis hijos amados.

¶ I do not write these things to shame you, but to warn you, as to my beloved sons.

15 P orque aunque ustedes tengan diez mil instructores en Cristo, no tienen muchos padres, pues en Cristo Jesús yo los engendré por medio del evangelio.

For though ye may have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet ye shall not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

16 P or tanto, les ruego que me imiten.

Therefore, I beseech you that ye imitate me.

17 P or eso les he enviado a Timoteo, que es mi hijo amado y fiel en el Señor, el cual les recordará mi modo de ser en Cristo, tal y como enseño en todas partes y en todas las iglesias.

¶ For this cause I have sent Timothy unto you, who is my beloved son and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which are in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every congregation.

18 P ero algunos se creen muy importantes, y creen que yo nunca iré a visitarlos.

Now some are puffed up as though I will never come to you.

19 P ero, si el Señor así lo quiere, pronto iré a verlos, y entonces sabré cuánto pueden hacer esos engreídos, y no cuánto pueden hablar.

But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and will know not the words of those who are puffed up, but the virtue.

20 P orque el reino de Dios no es cuestión de palabras, sino de poder.

For the kingdom of God is not in words, but in virtue.

21 ¿ Qué prefieren ustedes? ¿Que los visite con una vara, o con amor y con un espíritu apacible?

What will ye? Shall I come unto you with a rod or in charity and in the spirit of meekness?
