1 ¡ Escúchenme, costas y pueblos lejanos! El Señor me llamó desde el vientre de mi madre; tuvo en cuenta mi nombre desde antes de que yo naciera.

¶ Listen, O isles, unto me, and hearken, ye peoples, from far, The LORD has called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother he has remembered my name.

2 H izo de mi boca una espada aguda, y me cubrió con la sombra de su mano; hizo de mí una flecha bruñida, y me guardó en su aljaba.

And he has made my mouth like a sharp sword; with the shadow of his hand he has covered me, and made me a clean arrow; in his quiver he has kept me.

3 Y me dijo: «Israel, tú eres mi siervo. Tú serás para mí motivo de orgullo.»

And he said unto me, Thou art my slave, O Israel; in thee I will glory.

4 P ero yo dije: «De balde he trabajado. He gastado mis fuerzas sin ningún provecho. Pero el Señor me hará justicia; mi Dios me dará mi recompensa.»

But I said, I have laboured in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing, and in vain; yet surely my judgment is before the LORD and my recompense with my God.

5 P ero ahora ha hablado el Señor, el que me formó desde el vientre para que fuera yo su siervo; para que reuniera a Jacob, para que hiciera a Israel volverse a él (así yo seré muy estimado a los ojos del Señor, y mi Dios será mi fuerza),

And now, saith the LORD, he that formed me from the womb to be his slave, so that Jacob might be converted unto him. But if Israel will not be gathered, even so, yet I shall be esteemed in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.

6 y ha dicho: «Muy poca cosa es para mí que tú seas mi siervo, y que levantes las tribus de Jacob y restaures al remanente de Israel. Te he puesto también como luz de las naciones, para que seas mi salvación hasta los confines de la tierra.»

And he said, It is a light thing that thou should be my slave to wake up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the desolations of Israel; I have also given thee for a light to the Gentiles that thou may be my saving health unto the end of the earth.

7 A sí ha dicho el Señor, el Santo Redentor de Israel, al que es menospreciado, al que es odiado por las naciones, al siervo de los gobernantes: «Los reyes y los príncipes te verán y se levantarán, y se inclinarán ante el Señor, porque el Santo de Israel, que te ha escogido, es fiel.» Dios promete restaurar a Sión

¶ Thus has the LORD said, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the Gentiles abhor, to the slave of the tyrants, Kings shall see and be raised up as princes and shall worship because of the LORD, for faithful is the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen thee.

8 A sí ha dicho el Señor: «En el momento favorable te responderé; en el día de salvación te ayudaré. Yo te protegeré, y tú representarás mi pacto con el pueblo, para que restaures la tierra y heredes las propiedades asoladas;

Thus has the LORD said, In an acceptable time I have heard thee, and in the day of saving health I have helped thee; and I will preserve thee and give thee for a covenant of people, that thou might awaken the earth, that thou might inherit the desolate heritages;

9 p ara que digas a los presos, a los que están en tinieblas: “Salgan de ahí; déjense ver”. En los caminos y en todas las alturas tendrán pastos y allí serán alimentados.

that thou may say to the prisoners, Go forth; and unto those that are in darkness, Show yourselves. Upon the ways shall they be fed, and upon all the high places shall be their pastures.

10 N o tendrán hambre ni sed, ni los agobiará el sol ni el calor, porque quien les tiene misericordia los guiará y los llevará a manantiales de aguas.

They shall never hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that has mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water he shall feed them.

11 Y o convertiré todos mis montes en caminos, y mis calzadas serán levantadas.

And I will turn all my mountains into a way, and my highways shall be exalted.

12 E stos que ven aquí vendrán de lejos; estos otros vendrán del norte y del occidente, y aquellos otros vendrán de la tierra de Sinim.»

Behold, these shall come from far; and, behold, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.

13 U stedes, los cielos, ¡canten alabanzas! Y tú, tierra, ¡canta de alegría! ¡Que prorrumpan los montes en alabanzas! ¡El Señor ha consolado a su pueblo, y se ha compadecido de sus pobres!

¶ Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD has comforted his people and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

14 S ión dice: «El Señor me ha abandonado. El Señor se olvidó de mí.»

But Zion said, The LORD has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me.

15 ¿ Pero acaso se olvida la mujer del hijo que dio a luz? ¿Acaso deja de compadecerse del hijo de su vientre? Tal vez ella lo olvide, pero yo nunca me olvidaré de ti.

Can a woman forget her sucking child that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Even though they may forget, I will not forget thee.

16 Y o te llevo grabada en las palmas de mis manos; siempre tengo presentes tus murallas.

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

17 T us edificadores vendrán apresurados, y saldrán de ti los que te han destruido y asolado.

Thy builders shall come in haste; thy destroyers and those that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.

18 A lza los ojos y mira a tu alrededor: Todos estos se han reunido; han venido a ti. Yo te juro que todos ellos serán para ti como un fino vestido, y que te adornarán como a una novia. —Palabra del Señor.

¶ Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thyself with them all, as with a garment of honour and shalt be girded by them as a bride.

19 C iertamente tu tierra devastada, arruinada y desierta, será demasiado estrecha para la multitud de tus habitantes, y los que te destruyeron serán apartados y alejados.

For thy waste and thy desolate places and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and those that destroyed thee shall be separated far away.

20 A un los hijos de tu orfandad te dirán al oído: «Este lugar es demasiado estrecho para mí; hazme un espacio habitable.»

Even thy sons which were fatherless, shall say in thine ears, The place is too strait for me; give place to me that I may dwell.

21 Y tú te pondrás a pensar: «¿Y quién me engendró estos hijos? Yo me había quedado sin hijos; estaba sola, peregrina y desterrada. ¿Quién crió a éstos? Me había quedado sola; ¿dónde estaban éstos?»

Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who has begotten me these, seeing I had lost my children and was desolate, a stranger removed from my land? and who has brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?

22 A sí ha dicho Dios el Señor: «¡Miren! Yo levantaré mi mano a las naciones; levantaré a los pueblos mi bandera; y ellos traerán en brazos a tus hijos, y a tus hijas las traerán en hombros.

Thus has the Lord GOD said, Behold, I will lift up my hand to the Gentiles and raise up my banner as an example to the peoples: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.

23 S us reyes serán tus ayos, y sus reinas tus nodrizas; ante ti se inclinarán, sin levantar la vista del suelo, y lamerán el polvo de tus pies. Sabrás entonces que yo soy el Señor, y que no quedan avergonzados los que esperan en mí.»

And kings shall be thy nursing fathers and their princesses thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for those that wait for me shall not be ashamed.

24 ¿ Puede arrebatársele el botín al guerrero? ¿Puede rescatarse al cautivo del poder del tirano?

¶ Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?

25 P ues así dice el Señor: «Ciertamente el cautivo será rescatado del poder del guerrero, y el botín se le arrebatará al tirano; yo defenderé tu causa, y salvaré a tus hijos.

But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contends with thee, and I will save thy sons.

26 T ambién haré que los que te despojaron se coman su propia carne, y que se embriaguen con su propia sangre, como si tomaran vino. Así todo el mundo sabrá que yo soy el Señor, el Fuerte de Jacob, tu Salvador y Redentor.»

And I will feed those that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
