1 E scuchadme, islas, y atended, pueblos lejanos. El Señor me llamó desde el seno materno, desde las entrañas de mi madre mencionó mi nombre.

¶ Listen, O isles, unto me, and hearken, ye peoples, from far, The LORD has called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother he has remembered my name.

2 H a hecho mi boca como espada afilada, en la sombra de su mano me ha escondido; me ha hecho también como saeta escogida, en su aljaba me ha escondido.

And he has made my mouth like a sharp sword; with the shadow of his hand he has covered me, and made me a clean arrow; in his quiver he has kept me.

3 Y me dijo: Tú eres mi siervo, Israel, en quien yo mostraré mi gloria.

And he said unto me, Thou art my slave, O Israel; in thee I will glory.

4 Y yo dije: En vano he trabajado, en vanidad y en nada he gastado mis fuerzas; pero mi derecho está en el Señor, y mi recompensa con mi Dios.

But I said, I have laboured in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing, and in vain; yet surely my judgment is before the LORD and my recompense with my God.

5 Y ahora dice el Señor (el que me formó desde el seno materno para ser su siervo, para hacer que Jacob vuelva a El y que Israel se reúna con El, porque honrado soy a los ojos del Señor y mi Dios ha sido mi fortaleza ),

And now, saith the LORD, he that formed me from the womb to be his slave, so that Jacob might be converted unto him. But if Israel will not be gathered, even so, yet I shall be esteemed in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.

6 d ice El: Poca cosa es que tú seas mi siervo, para levantar las tribus de Jacob y para restaurar a los que quedaron de Israel; también te haré luz de las naciones, para que mi salvación alcance hasta los confines de la tierra.

And he said, It is a light thing that thou should be my slave to wake up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the desolations of Israel; I have also given thee for a light to the Gentiles that thou may be my saving health unto the end of the earth.

7 A sí dice el Señor, el Redentor de Israel, el Santo suyo, al despreciado, al aborrecido de la nación, al siervo de gobernantes: Lo verán reyes y se levantarán, príncipes, y se postrarán, a causa del Señor que es fiel, del Santo de Israel que te ha escogido.

¶ Thus has the LORD said, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the Gentiles abhor, to the slave of the tyrants, Kings shall see and be raised up as princes and shall worship because of the LORD, for faithful is the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen thee.

8 A sí dice el Señor: En tiempo propicio te he respondido, en día de salvación te he ayudado; te guardaré y te daré por pacto del pueblo, para restaurar la tierra, para repartir las heredades asoladas,

Thus has the LORD said, In an acceptable time I have heard thee, and in the day of saving health I have helped thee; and I will preserve thee and give thee for a covenant of people, that thou might awaken the earth, that thou might inherit the desolate heritages;

9 p ara decir a los presos: “Salid”; a los que están en tinieblas: “Mostraos.” Por los caminos pacerán, y en todas las alturas desoladas tendrán sus pastos.

that thou may say to the prisoners, Go forth; and unto those that are in darkness, Show yourselves. Upon the ways shall they be fed, and upon all the high places shall be their pastures.

10 N o pasarán hambre ni sed, no los herirá el calor abrasador ni el sol, porque el que tiene compasión de ellos los guiará, y a manantiales de aguas los conducirá.

They shall never hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that has mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water he shall feed them.

11 C onvertiré todos mis montes en camino, y mis calzadas serán levantadas.

And I will turn all my mountains into a way, and my highways shall be exalted.

12 M irad, éstos vendrán de lejos; y he aquí, otros del norte y del occidente, y otros de la tierra de Sinim.

Behold, these shall come from far; and, behold, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.

13 G ritad de júbilo, cielos, y regocíjate, tierra. Prorrumpid, montes, en gritos de alegría, porque el Señor ha consolado a su pueblo, y de sus afligidos tendrá compasión.

¶ Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD has comforted his people and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

14 P ero Sion dijo: El Señor me ha abandonado, el Señor se ha olvidado de mí.

But Zion said, The LORD has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me.

15 ¿ Puede una mujer olvidar a su niño de pecho, sin compadecerse del hijo de sus entrañas? Aunque ellas se olvidaran, yo no te olvidaré.

Can a woman forget her sucking child that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Even though they may forget, I will not forget thee.

16 H e aquí, en las palmas de mis manos, te he grabado; tus muros están constantemente delante de mí.

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

17 T us edificadores se apresuran; tus destructores y tus devastadores se alejarán de ti.

Thy builders shall come in haste; thy destroyers and those that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.

18 L evanta en derredor tus ojos y mira: todos ellos se reúnen, vienen a ti. Vivo yo —declara el Señor — que a todos ellos como joyas te los pondrás, y te ceñirás con ellos como una novia.

¶ Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thyself with them all, as with a garment of honour and shalt be girded by them as a bride.

19 E n cuanto a tus lugares desiertos y desolados y tu tierra arruinada, ahora serás ciertamente demasiado estrecha para los moradores, y tus devoradores estarán muy lejos.

For thy waste and thy desolate places and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and those that destroyed thee shall be separated far away.

20 T odavía te dirán al oído los hijos de los que fuiste privada: “El lugar es muy estrecho para mí; hazme sitio para que yo more aquí.”

Even thy sons which were fatherless, shall say in thine ears, The place is too strait for me; give place to me that I may dwell.

21 Y dirás en tu corazón: “¿Quién me ha engendrado éstos? Pues yo había sido privada de mis hijos, y era estéril, desterrada y errante. Y a éstos, ¿quién los ha criado? He aquí, yo había sido dejada sola; y éstos, ¿dónde estaban ?”

Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who has begotten me these, seeing I had lost my children and was desolate, a stranger removed from my land? and who has brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?

22 A sí dice el Señor Dios: He aquí, levantaré hacia las naciones mi mano, y hacia los pueblos alzaré mi estandarte; traerán a tus hijos en brazos, y tus hijas en hombros serán llevadas.

Thus has the Lord GOD said, Behold, I will lift up my hand to the Gentiles and raise up my banner as an example to the peoples: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.

23 R eyes serán tus tutores, y sus princesas, tus nodrizas. Rostro en tierra te rendirán homenaje y el polvo de tus pies lamerán. Y sabrás que yo soy el Señor, y que no se avergonzarán los que esperan en mí.

And kings shall be thy nursing fathers and their princesses thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for those that wait for me shall not be ashamed.

24 ¿ Se le podrá quitar la presa al poderoso, o rescatar al cautivo del tirano ?

¶ Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?

25 C iertamente así dice el Señor: Aun los cautivos del poderoso serán recobrados, y rescatada será la presa del tirano; con el que contienda contigo yo contenderé, y salvaré a tus hijos.

But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contends with thee, and I will save thy sons.

26 H aré comer a tus opresores su propia carne, y como con vino dulce, con su sangre se embriagarán; y toda carne sabrá que yo, el Señor, soy tu Salvador y tu Redentor, el Poderoso de Jacob.

And I will feed those that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
