1 A cerca de los hijos de Amón. Así dice el Señor: ¿No tiene hijos Israel? ¿No tiene heredero? ¿Por qué, pues, Milcom se ha apoderado de Gad y su pueblo se ha establecido en sus ciudades?

¶ Concerning the Ammonites, thus hath the LORD said: Does Israel have no sons? does he have no heir? why then does their king inherit Gad and his people dwell in his cities?

2 P or tanto, he aquí, vienen días —declara el Señor — en que haré que se oiga el grito de guerra contra Rabá de los hijos de Amón, y será convertida en montón de ruinas, y sus ciudades serán incendiadas. Entonces se apoderará Israel de los que lo poseían —dice el Señor.

Therefore, behold, the days come, said the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be made a desolate heap, and her cities shall be burned with fire; then shall Israel be heir unto those that were his heirs, said the LORD.

3 G ime, Hesbón, porque Hai ha sido destruida. Clamad, hijas de Rabá, ceñíos de cilicio y lamentaos, corred de un lado a otro por entre los muros, porque Milcom irá al destierro junto con sus sacerdotes y sus príncipes.

Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled; cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird yourselves with sackcloth; lament and run to and fro by the hedges, for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.

4 ¡ Cómo te jactas de los valles! Tu valle se desvanece, hija infiel, la que confía en sus tesoros, diciendo: “¿Quién vendrá contra mí ?”

Why gloriest thou in the valleys? Thy valley has slipped, O backsliding daughter that trusted in her treasures, she that saith, Who shall come against me?

5 H e aquí, traigo sobre ti terror —declara el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos— de todos tus alrededores; y seréis lanzados cada uno delante de sí, y no habrá quien reúna a los fugitivos.

Behold, I bring fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of the hosts, from all sides; and ye shall be driven out each man right forth in the direction he is facing; and no one shall gather up him that wanders.

6 P ero después restauraré el bienestar de los hijos de Amón —declara el Señor. Profecía sobre Edom

And afterward I will turn again the captivity of the sons of Ammon, said the LORD.

7 A cerca de Edom. Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: ¿No hay ya sabiduría en Temán? ¿Se ha perdido el consejo de los prudentes? ¿Se ha corrompido su sabiduría?

¶ Concerning Edom, thus hath the LORD of the hosts said: Is there no more wisdom in Teman? Has the counsel of the wise perished? Is their wisdom corrupted?

8 H uid, volved, morad en las profundidades, habitantes de Dedán, porque la ruina de Esaú traeré sobre él al momento de castigarlo.

Flee, turn back, hide in the deeps to remain, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, at the time that I have to visit him.

9 S i vinieran a ti vendimiadores, ¿no dejarían rebuscos? Si vinieran ladrones de noche, sólo destruirían hasta que les bastara.

If grapegatherers came against thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? If thieves by night, they will take what they have need of.

10 P ero yo he despojado totalmente a Esaú, he descubierto sus escondrijos y no podrá esconderse. Ha sido destruida su descendencia, sus hermanos y vecinos, y él ya no existe.

But I will make Esau bare, I will uncover his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself; his seed shall be destroyed, and his brethren and his neighbours and he shall no longer be.

11 D eja a tus huérfanos, yo los conservaré con vida; que tus viudas confíen en mí.

Leave thy fatherless children; I will raise them; and thy widows shall trust in me.

12 P ues así dice el Señor: He aquí, los que no estaban condenados a beber la copa, ciertamente la beberán, ¿y serás tú absuelto por completo? No serás absuelto, sino que ciertamente la beberás.

For thus hath the LORD said: Behold, those who were not condemned to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and shalt thou be absolved of everything? Thou shalt not be absolved, but thou shalt surely drink of it.

13 P orque por mí he jurado —declara el Señor — que Bosra será motivo de horror, de oprobio, de ruina y de maldición; todas sus ciudades se convertirán en ruinas perpetuas.

For I have sworn by myself, said the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all its cities shall be perpetual wastes.

14 H e oído un mensaje de parte del Señor, y un mensajero es enviado entre las naciones, diciendo: Reuníos y venid contra él, y levantaos para la guerra.

I have heard the news, that from the LORD a messenger had been sent unto the Gentiles, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.

15 P ues he aquí, pequeño te he hecho entre las naciones, menospreciado entre los hombres.

For, behold, I have placed thee as small among the Gentiles and despised among men.

16 E n cuanto al terror que infundías, te ha engañado la soberbia de tu corazón; tú que vives en las hendiduras de las peñas, que ocupas la cumbre del monte. Aunque hagas tu nido tan alto como el del águila, de allí te haré bajar —declara el Señor.

Thy arrogance has deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dost dwell in the clefts of the rock, that dost hold the height of the mountain: though thou should make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from there, said the LORD.

17 Y Edom se convertirá en objeto de horror; todo el que pase por él se quedará atónito y silbará a causa de todas sus heridas.

Also Edom shall be a desolation; every one that goes by it shall be astonished and shall hiss at all its plagues.

18 C omo en la destrucción de Sodoma y Gomorra y de sus ciudades vecinas —dice el Señor — nadie habitará allí, ni residirá en él hijo de hombre.

As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, said the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.

19 H e aquí que uno subirá como león de la espesura del Jordán contra el pastizal de perenne verdor, y en un instante lo haré huir de él, y al que sea escogido nombraré sobre él. Porque ¿quién es como yo y quién me citará a juicio ? ¿Quién es el pastor que me podrá resistir ?

Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan to the strong habitation: for I will make rest and make him run from upon her, and he who is chosen I shall appoint over her; for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?

20 P or tanto, oíd el plan que el Señor ha trazado contra Edom, y los designios que ha decretado contra los habitantes de Temán: ciertamente los arrastrarán, aun a los más pequeños del rebaño; ciertamente a causa de ellos hará una desolación de su pastizal.

Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD that he has taken against Edom; and his thoughts, that he has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out; surely he shall destroy their habitations with them.

21 A l estruendo de su caída tiembla la tierra; hay un clamor. Hasta el mar Rojo se oye su voz.

The earth is moved at the noise of their fall; at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.

22 H e aquí, se remonta, vuela veloz como un águila y extiende sus alas contra Bosra. En aquel día el corazón de los valientes de Edom será como el corazón de una mujer de parto. Profecía sobre Damasco

Behold, he shall rise up and fly as the eagle and spread his wings over Bozrah; and at that day the heart of the mighty men of Edom shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

23 A cerca de Damasco. Avergonzadas están Hamat y Arfad. Porque han oído malas noticias están desalentadas. Hay ansiedad como en el mar que no se puede calmar.

¶ Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad, for they have heard bad news; they have melted in waters of feebleness; they cannot be reassured.

24 D esamparada está Damasco; se ha vuelto para huir, y el pánico se ha apoderado de ella; angustia y dolores la oprimen como a mujer de parto.

Damascus is waxed feeble and turns herself to flee, and fear has seized on her; anguish and sorrows have taken her as a woman in travail.

25 ¿ Cómo es que no ha sido abandonada la ciudad alabada, la ciudad de mi regocijo ?

How did they not forgive the city of praise, the city of my joy!

26 P or eso sus jóvenes caerán en sus calles, y todos los hombres de guerra serán silenciados en aquel día —declara el Señor de los ejércitos.

Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, said the LORD of the hosts.

27 Y prenderé fuego al muro de Damasco que consumirá los palacios de Ben-adad. Profecía sobre Cedar y Hazor

And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the houses of Benhadad.

28 A cerca de Cedar y de los reinos de Hazor, que derrotó Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia. Así dice el Señor: Levantaos, subid a Cedar y destruid a los hijos del oriente.

¶ Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote, thus hath the LORD said; Arise ye, go up to Kedar and destroy the men of the east.

29 S us tiendas y sus rebaños serán tomados; las cortinas de sus tiendas, todos sus bienes y sus camellos se los llevarán, y gritarán el uno al otro: “¡Terror por todas partes!”

Their tents and their flocks shall they take away; they shall take to themselves their curtains and all their vessels and their camels; and they shall invoke fear on every side against them.

30 E scapaos, huid; morad en las profundidades, habitantes de Hazor —declara el Señor —, porque Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, ha concebido un plan contra vosotros, ha trazado un designio contra vosotros.

Flee, get you far off, dwell in the deeps that ye may stand, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, said the LORD; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you and has conceived a purpose against you.

31 L evantaos, subid contra una nación tranquila, que vive confiada —declara el Señor. No tiene puertas ni cerrojos; viven solitarios.

Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation that dwells without care, saith the LORD, which has neither gates nor bars, which dwells alone.

32 S us camellos serán el despojo, y la multitud de sus ganados el botín; esparciré a todos los vientos a los que se rapan las sienes, y de todos lados les traeré su ruina —declara el Señor.

And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter them into all the winds, throwing them out unto the utmost corner; and from all their sides I will bring their ruin, said the LORD.

33 Y Hazor será guarida de chacales, una desolación para siempre; nadie habitará allí, ni residirá en ella hijo de hombre. Profecía sobre Elam

And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons and a desolation for ever: no man shall abide there, nor any son of man dwell in it.

34 P alabra del Señor que vino al profeta Jeremías acerca de Elam al comienzo del reinado de Sedequías, rey de Judá, diciendo:

¶ The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet regarding Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

35 A sí dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “He aquí, quebraré el arco de Elam, lo mejor de su fortaleza.

Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said: Behold, I break the bow of Elam, the foundation of their might.

36 “ Y traeré sobre Elam los cuatro vientos desde los cuatro extremos del cielo, y a todos estos vientos los esparciré; no habrá nación adonde no vayan los expulsados de Elam.

And upon Elam I will bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation where the outcasts of Elam shall not come.

37 “ Destrozaré a Elam delante de sus enemigos y delante de los que buscan sus vidas; traeré sobre ellos calamidad, el ardor de mi ira ” —declara el Señor — “y enviaré tras ellos la espada hasta que los haya acabado.

For I will cause Elam to fear before their enemies and before those that seek their soul; and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, said the LORD; and I will send the sword after them until I have consumed them.

38 “ Entonces pondré mi trono en Elam, y allí destruiré al rey y a los príncipes” —declara el Señor.

And I will set my throne in Elam and will destroy from there the king and the princes, said the LORD.

39 “ Pero sucederá en los postreros días que restauraré el bienestar de Elam” —declara el Señor.

But it shall come to pass in the last of the days that I will turn again the captivity of Elam, said the LORD.
