1 ¡ Ay, Ariel, Ariel la ciudad donde acampó David! Añadid año sobre año, celebrad las fiestas a su tiempo.

¶ Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! add ye one year to another; the lambs shall cease.

2 Y traeré angustias a Ariel, y será una ciudad de lamento y de duelo; será para mí como un Ariel.

Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.

3 A camparé contra ti rodeándote, pondré contra ti vallas de asedio, y levantaré contra ti baluartes.

And I will camp against thee round about and will lay siege against thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee.

4 E ntonces serás humillada, desde el suelo hablarás, y desde el polvo donde estás postrada saldrá tu habla. Tu voz será también como la de un espíritu de la tierra, y desde el polvo susurrará tu habla.

And thou shalt be brought down and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be as that of a spiritist, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

5 P ero la multitud de tus enemigos será como polvo fino, y la multitud de los crueles como paja que se va volando; sucederá en un instante, de repente.

Moreover the multitude of thy enemies that shall come from afar shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the strong ones shall be as chaff that passes away: yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.

6 S erás castigada por el Señor de los ejércitos con truenos y terremotos y gran ruido, con torbellino y tempestad y con llama de fuego consumidor.

Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of the hosts with thunders, with earthquakes, and with great noise, with whirlwind and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

7 Y será como un sueño, una visión nocturna, la multitud de todas las naciones que combaten contra Ariel, todos los que combaten contra ella y su fortaleza, y los que la afligen.

And the multitude of all the Gentiles that shall fight against Ariel, even all that shall fight against her and their siege weapons, and those that shall distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.

8 Y será como cuando un hambriento sueña, y he aquí, está comiendo; pero cuando despierta, su hambre no ha sido satisfecha. O como cuando un sediento sueña, y he aquí, está bebiendo; pero cuando despierta, he aquí, está desfallecido, y su sed no ha sido aplacada. Así será la multitud de todas las naciones que combaten contra el monte Sion.

It shall even be as he who dreams that he is hungry, and in his dream, he eats; but when he awakes, his soul is empty; and as he who dreams that he is thirsty, and, in his dream, he drinks; but he awakes, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul is still thirsty: so shall the multitude of all the Gentiles be, that shall fight against Mount Zion.

9 D eteneos y esperad, cegaos y sed ciegos. Se embriagan, pero no con vino; se tambalean, pero no con licor.

¶ Become ye dumb, and make others dumb; become ye blind, and blind others: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.

10 P orque el Señor ha derramado sobre vosotros espíritu de sueño profundo, El ha cerrado vuestros ojos: los profetas, y ha cubierto vuestras cabezas: los videntes.

For the LORD has extended upon you the spirit of deep sleep and has closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, he has covered the seers with sleep.

11 Y toda la visión será para vosotros como las palabras de un libro sellado, que cuando se le da al que sabe leer, diciéndole: Lee esto, por favor; y él dirá: No puedo, porque está sellado.

And every vision is unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which if it were delivered to one that knows how to read, saying, Read this, I pray thee: he shall say, I cannot; for it is sealed:

12 E ntonces el libro será dado al que no sabe leer, diciéndole: Lee esto, por favor; y él dirá: No sé leer. Hipocresía de Israel

And if the book were delivered to him that does not know how to read, saying, Read this, I pray thee: he shall say, I do not know how to read.

13 D ijo entonces el Señor: Por cuanto este pueblo se me acerca con sus palabras y me honra con sus labios, pero aleja de mí su corazón, y su veneración hacia mí es sólo una tradición aprendida de memoria,

Therefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people sacrifice unto me and honour me with their lips, but have removed their heart far from me, and their worship with which they honour me was taught by the commandment of men:

14 p or tanto, he aquí, volveré a hacer maravillas con este pueblo, prodigiosas maravillas; y perecerá la sabiduría de sus sabios, y se eclipsará el entendimiento de sus entendidos.

Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvellous work among this people with a fearful miracle: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the prudence of their prudent men shall fade away.

15 ¡ Ay de los que van muy hondo para esconder sus planes al Señor, y realizan sus obras en tinieblas y dicen: ¿Quién nos ve, o quién nos conoce?

Woe unto those that hide themselves from the LORD, covering the counsel; and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who sees us? and who knows us?

16 ¡ Qué equivocación la vuestra! ¿Es acaso el alfarero como el barro, para que lo que está hecho diga a su hacedor: El no me hizo; o lo que está formado diga al que lo formó: El no tiene entendimiento? Redención de Israel

Surely your subversion shall be as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He did not make me? or shall the vessel say of him that made it, He did not understand?

17 ¿ Acaso no queda ya muy poco tiempo para que el Líbano se convierta en campo fértil, y el campo fértil sea considerado bosque?

¶ Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into Carmel a fruitful field, and shall not Carmel be esteemed as a forest?

18 E n aquel día los sordos oirán las palabras de un libro, y desde la oscuridad y desde las tinieblas los ojos de los ciegos verán.

And in that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see in the midst of darkness, and of gross darkness.

19 L os afligidos aumentarán también su alegría en el Señor, y los necesitados de la humanidad se regocijarán en el Santo de Israel.

Then the humble shall grow in joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

20 P orque el violento tendrá su fin, el escarnecedor será acabado, y serán cortados todos los que se desvelan por hacer el mal;

For the violent one shall be done away with, and the scorner shall be consumed, and all those that rose early unto iniquity shall be cut off:

21 l os que hacen que una persona sea acusada por una palabra, tienden lazos al que juzga en la puerta, y defraudan al justo con vanos argumentos.

Those that made men to sin in word; those that laid a snare for him that reproved in the gate, and turned that which is just into vanity.

22 P or tanto el Señor, que redimió a Abraham, dice así acerca de la casa de Jacob: Jacob no será ahora avergonzado, ni palidecerá ahora su rostro;

Therefore thus saith the LORD, who ransomed Abraham, unto the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale;

23 p orque cuando vea a sus hijos, la obra de mis manos, en medio suyo, ellos santificarán mi nombre; ciertamente, santificarán al Santo de Jacob, y tendrán temor al Dios de Israel.

for he shall see his children, the work of my hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and shall sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel;

24 L os descarriados de espíritu conocerán la verdad, y los murmuradores aceptarán instrucción.

and those that erred in spirit shall learn understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.
