1 F altaban dos días para la Pascua y para la fiesta de los panes sin levadura; y los principales sacerdotes y los escribas buscaban cómo prenderle con engaño y matar le;

¶ Two days after was the passover and the days of unleavened bread; and the princes of the priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, that they might kill him.

2 p orque decían: No durante la fiesta, no sea que haya un tumulto del pueblo. Jesús ungido en Betania

But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.

3 Y estando El en Betania, sentado a la mesa en casa de Simón el leproso, vino una mujer con un frasco de alabastro de perfume muy costoso de nardo puro; y rompió el frasco y lo derramó sobre la cabeza de Jesús.

And he being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, sitting at the table, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and breaking the alabaster, she poured it over his head.

4 P ero algunos estaban indignados y se decían unos a otros: ¿Para qué se ha hecho este desperdicio de perfume?

And there were some that had indignation within themselves and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

5 P orque este perfume podía haberse vendido por más de trescientos denarios, y dado el dinero a los pobres. Y la reprendían.

For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarius and given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

6 P ero Jesús dijo: Dejadla; ¿por qué la molestáis? Buena obra ha hecho conmigo.

But Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? She has wrought a good work on me.

7 P orque a los pobres siempre los tendréis con vosotros; y cuando queráis les podréis hacer bien; pero a mí no siempre me tendréis.

For ye have the poor with you always, and whenever ye will, ye may do them good; but me ye have not always.

8 E lla ha hecho lo que ha podido; se ha anticipado a ungir mi cuerpo para la sepultura.

She has done what she could, for she has anticipated anointing my body for the burial.

9 Y en verdad os digo: Dondequiera que el evangelio se predique en el mundo entero, también se hablará de lo que ésta ha hecho, para memoria suya. Traición de Judas

Verily I say unto you, Wherever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she has done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

10 E ntonces Judas Iscariote, que era uno de los doce, fue a los principales sacerdotes para entregarles a Jesús.

Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, came unto the princes of the priests to deliver him unto them.

11 C uando ellos lo oyeron, se alegraron y prometieron darle dinero. Y él buscaba cómo entregarle en un momento oportuno. Preparación de la Pascua

And when they heard it, they were glad and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.

12 E l primer día de la fiesta de los panes sin levadura, cuando se sacrificaba el cordero de la Pascua, sus discípulos le dijeron: ¿Dónde quieres que vayamos y hagamos los preparativos para que comas la Pascua?

¶ And the first day of the feast of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou may eat the passover?

13 Y envió a dos de sus discípulos, y les dijo: Id a la ciudad, y allí os saldrá al encuentro un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua; seguidle;

And he sends forth two of his disciples and said unto them, Go into the city, and a man shall meet you bearing a pitcher of water; follow him.

14 y donde él entre, decid al dueño de la casa: “El Maestro dice: ‘¿Dónde está mi habitación en la que pueda comer la Pascua con mis discípulos ?’”

And wherever he shall go in, say to the husband of the house, The Master says, Where is the guestchamber where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

15 Y él os mostrará un gran aposento alto, amueblado y preparado; haced los preparativos para nosotros allí.

And he will show you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.

16 S alieron, pues, los discípulos y llegaron a la ciudad, y encontraron todo tal como El les había dicho; y prepararon la Pascua. Jesús identifica al traidor

And his disciples went forth and came into the city and found as he had said unto them, and they made ready the passover.

17 A l atardecer llegó El con los doce.

And in the evening he went with the twelve.

18 Y estando sentados a la mesa comiendo, Jesús dijo: En verdad os digo que uno de vosotros me entregará; el que come conmigo.

And when they sat at the table and ate, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you who eats with me shall betray me.

19 E llos comenzaron a entristecerse y a decirle uno por uno: ¿Acaso soy yo?

And they began to be sorrowful and to say unto him one by one, shall it be I? and another said, shall it be I?

20 Y El les dijo: Es uno de los doce, el que moja conmigo en el plato.

And he, answering, said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dips with me in the dish.

21 P orque el Hijo del Hombre se va tal y como está escrito de El; pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien el Hijo del Hombre es entregado! Mejor le fuera a ese hombre no haber nacido. Institución de la Cena del Señor

The Son of man indeed goes, as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

22 Y mientras comían, tomó pan, y habiéndo lo bendecido lo partió, se lo dio a ellos, y dijo: Tomad, esto es mi cuerpo.

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread and, blessing it, broke it and gave to them and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

23 Y tomando una copa, después de dar gracias, se la dio a ellos, y todos bebieron de ella.

And taking the cup, having given thanks, he gave it to them; and they all drank of it.

24 Y les dijo: Esto es mi sangre del nuevo pacto, que es derramada por muchos.

And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.

25 E n verdad os digo: Ya no beberé más del fruto de la vid hasta aquel día cuando lo beba nuevo en el reino de Dios.

Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

26 D espués de cantar un himno, salieron para el monte de los Olivos. Jesús predice la negación de Pedro

And when they had sung the hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

27 Y Jesús les dijo: Todos vosotros os apartaréis, porque escrito está: “ Herire al pastor, y las ovejas se dispersaran.”

Then Jesus said unto them, All ye shall be scandalized in me this night; for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

28 P ero después de que yo haya resucitado, iré delante de vosotros a Galilea.

But after I have risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

29 E ntonces Pedro le dijo: Aunque todos se aparten, yo, sin embargo, no lo haré.

Then Peter said unto him, Although all be scandalized, yet I will not.

30 Y Jesús le dijo: En verdad te digo que tú, hoy, esta misma noche, antes que el gallo cante dos veces, me negarás tres veces.

And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crows twice, thou shalt deny me three times.

31 P ero Pedro con insistencia repetía: Aunque tenga que morir contigo, no te negaré. Y todos decían también lo mismo. Jesús en Getsemaní

But he spoke the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said the others.

32 Y llegaron a un lugar que se llama Getsemaní, y dijo a sus discípulos: Sentaos aquí hasta que yo haya orado.

¶ And they come to the place which is named Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, Sit ye here while I pray.

33 Y tomó consigo a Pedro, a Jacobo y a Juan, y comenzó a afligirse y a angustiarse mucho.

And he takes with him Peter and James and John and began to be alarmed and to be anguished

34 Y les dijo: Mi alma está muy afligida, hasta el punto de la muerte; quedaos aquí y velad.

and said unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death; tarry ye here, and watch.

35 A delantándose un poco, se postró en tierra y oraba que si fuera posible, pasara de El aquella hora.

And he went forward a little and fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

36 Y decía: ¡Abba, Padre! Para ti todas las cosas son posibles; aparta de mí esta copa, pero no sea lo que yo quiero, sino lo que tú quieras.

And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me; nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

37 E ntonces vino y los halló durmiendo, y dijo a Pedro: Simón, ¿duermes? ¿No pudiste velar ni por una hora?

And he came and found them sleeping and said unto Peter: Simon, sleepest thou? Could thou not watch one hour?

38 V elad y orad para que no entréis en tentación; el espíritu está dispuesto, pero la carne es débil.

Watch ye and pray; enter not into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is sick.

39 S e fue otra vez y oró, diciendo las mismas palabras.

And again he went away and prayed and spoke the same words.

40 Y vino de nuevo y los halló durmiendo, porque sus ojos estaban muy cargados de sueño; y no sabían qué responderle.

And when he returned, he found them asleep again (for their eyes were heavy), nor did they know what to answer him.

41 V ino por tercera vez, y les dijo: ¿Todavía estáis durmiendo y descansando? Basta ya; ha llegado la hora; he aquí, el Hijo del Hombre es entregado en manos de los pecadores.

And he came the third time and said unto them, Sleep on now and rest; it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of the sinners.

42 L evantaos, vámonos; mirad, está cerca el que me entrega. Arresto de Jesús

Rise up, let us go; behold, he that betrays me is at hand.

43 E n ese momento, mientras todavía estaba El hablando, llegó Judas, uno de los doce, acompañado de una multitud con espadas y garrotes, de parte de los principales sacerdotes, de los escribas y de los ancianos.

¶ And immediately, while he yet spoke, Judas came, who was one of the twelve, and with him a multitude with swords and staves from the princes of the priests and of the scribes and of the elders.

44 Y el que le entregaba les había dado una señal, diciendo: Al que yo bese, ése es; prendedle y llevadle con seguridad.

And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him and lead him away securely.

45 Y habiendo llegado, inmediatamente se acercó a El diciendo: ¡Rabí! Y le besó.

And as soon as he was come, he went straightway to him and said, Master, Master, and kissed him.

46 E ntonces ellos le echaron mano y le prendieron.

And they laid their hands on him and took him.

47 P ero uno de los que estaban allí, sacando la espada, hirió al siervo del sumo sacerdote y le cortó la oreja.

And one of them that stood by drew a sword and smote the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear.

48 Y dirigiéndose Jesús a ellos, les dijo: ¿Habéis salido con espadas y garrotes para arrestarme como contra un ladrón?

And Jesus, answering, said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?

49 C ada día estaba con vosotros en el templo enseñando, y no me prendisteis; pero esto ha sucedido para que se cumplan las Escrituras.

I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not, but it is this way that the scriptures might be fulfilled.

50 Y abandonándole, huyeron todos. Un joven sigue a Jesús

And they all forsook him and fled.

51 C ierto joven le seguía, vestido sólo con una sábana sobre su cuerpo desnudo; y lo prendieron;

And there followed him a certain young man having a linen cloth cast about his naked body, and the young men laid hold on him,

52 p ero él, dejando la sábana, escapó desnudo. Jesús ante el concilio

and he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.

53 Y llevaron a Jesús al sumo sacerdote; y se reunieron todos los principales sacerdotes, los ancianos y los escribas.

¶ And they brought Jesus to the high priest, and with him were assembled all the princes of the priests and the elders and the scribes.

54 P edro le siguió de lejos hasta dentro del patio del sumo sacerdote; estaba sentado con los alguaciles, calentándose al fuego.

But Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest, and he was seated with the servants and warming himself at the fire.

55 Y los principales sacerdotes y todo el concilio, procuraban obtener testimonio contra Jesús para darle muerte, pero no lo hallaban.

And the princes of the priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death and found none.

56 P orque muchos daban falso testimonio contra El, pero sus testimonios no coincidían.

For many bore false witness against him, but their witness did not agree together.

57 Y algunos, levantándose, daban falso testimonio contra El, diciendo:

And there arose some that bore false witness against him, saying,

58 N osotros le oímos decir: “Yo destruiré este templo hecho por manos, y en tres días edificaré otro no hecho por manos.”

We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

59 Y ni siquiera en esto coincidía el testimonio de ellos.

But neither so did their witness agree together.

60 E ntonces el sumo sacerdote levantándose, se puso en medio y preguntó a Jesús, diciendo: ¿No respondes nada? ¿Qué testifican éstos contra ti?

So the high priest, standing up in the midst, asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing to what these witness against thee?

61 M as El callaba y nada respondía. Le volvió a preguntar el sumo sacerdote, diciéndole: ¿Eres tú el Cristo, el Hijo del Bendito?

But he was silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

62 J esús dijo: Yo soy; y veréis al Hijo del Hombre sentado a la diestra del Poder y viniendo con las nubes del cielo.

And Jesus said unto him, I AM, and ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the power of God and coming in the clouds of the heaven.

63 E ntonces el sumo sacerdote, rasgando sus ropas, dijo: ¿Qué necesidad tenemos de más testigos?

Then the high priest rent his clothes and said, What need have we any more for witnesses?

64 H abéis oído la blasfemia; ¿qué os parece? Y todos le condenaron, diciendo que era reo de muerte.

Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

65 Y comenzaron algunos a escupirle, a cubrirle el rostro y a darle de puñetazos, y a decirle: ¡Profetiza! Y los alguaciles le recibieron a bofetadas. La negación de Pedro

And some began to spit on him and to cover his face and to buffet him and to say unto him, Prophesy. And the servants struck him with the palms of their hands.

66 E stando Pedro abajo en el patio, llegó una de las sirvientas del sumo sacerdote,

¶ And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there came one of the maids of the high priest;

67 y al ver a Pedro calentándose, lo miró y dijo: Tú también estabas con Jesús el Nazareno.

and when she saw Peter warming himself, looking upon him, said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.

68 P ero él lo negó, diciendo: Ni sé, ni entiendo de qué hablas. Y salió al portal, y un gallo cantó.

But he denied, saying, I know him not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.

69 C uando la sirvienta lo vio, de nuevo comenzó a decir a los que estaban allí: Este es uno de ellos.

And the maid seeing him again began to say to those that stood by, This is one of them.

70 P ero él lo negó otra vez. Y poco después los que estaban allí volvieron a decirle a Pedro: Seguro que tú eres uno de ellos, pues también eres galileo.

But he denied it again. And a little after, those that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them, for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agrees unto it.

71 P ero él comenzó a maldecir y a jurar: ¡Yo no conozco a este hombre de quien habláis!

And he began to curse and to swear, saying, I do not know this man of whom ye speak.

72 A l instante un gallo cantó por segunda vez. Entonces Pedro recordó lo que Jesús le había dicho: Antes que el gallo cante dos veces, me negarás tres veces. Y se echó a llorar.

And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the words that Jesus had said unto him, Before the cock crows twice, thou shalt deny me three times. And thinking on this, he wept.
