1 D espués de esto, sucedió que David derrotó a los filisteos y los sometió, y David tomó el mando de la ciudad principal de mano de los filisteos.

¶ And after this it, came to pass that David smote the Philistines and subdued them, and David took Methegammah out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 Y derrotó a Moab, y los midió con cordel, haciéndolos tenderse en tierra; y midió dos cordeles para dar les muerte, y un cordel entero para dejar los vivos. Y los moabitas fueron siervos de David, trayéndo le tributo.

He also smote those of Moab and measured them with a line, causing them to lie down on the ground, and he measured them with two lines, with one to put to death and the other full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David’s slaves, bringing presents.

3 D avid derrotó también a Hadad-ezer, hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba, cuando éste iba a restaurar su dominio en el Río.

David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to extend his border to the river Euphrates.

4 D avid le tomó mil setecientos hombres de a caballo y veinte mil soldados de a pie; David desjarretó los caballos de los carros, pero dejó suficientes de ellos para cien carros.

And David took from him a thousand seven hundred horsemen and twenty thousand footmen, and David hamstrung all the chariot horses but reserved of them for one hundred chariots.

5 C uando vinieron los arameos de Damasco en ayuda de Hadad-ezer, rey de Soba, David mató a veintidós mil hombres de los arameos.

And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians twenty-two thousand men.

6 E ntonces David puso guarniciones entre los arameos de Damasco, y los arameos fueron siervos de David, trayéndo le tributo. Y el Señor ayudaba a David dondequiera que iba.

Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became slaves to David, bringing presents. And the LORD saved David wherever he went.

7 T omó David los escudos de oro que llevaban los siervos de Hadad-ezer, y los trajo a Jerusalén.

And David took the shields of gold that were on the slaves of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.

8 Y de Beta y de Berotai, ciudades de Hadad-ezer, el rey David tomó una gran cantidad de bronce.

Likewise from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a great quantity of brass.

9 C uando Toi, rey de Hamat, oyó que David había derrotado a todo el ejército de Hadad-ezer,

¶ When Toi, king of Hamath, heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,

10 T oi envió a su hijo Joram al rey David, para saludarlo y bendecirlo, porque había peleado contra Hadad-ezer y lo había derrotado; pues Hadad-ezer había estado en guerra con Toi. Y Joram trajo consigo objetos de plata, de oro y de bronce,

then Toi sent Joram, his son, unto King David, to greet him peacefully and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and smitten him, for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought vessels of silver and vessels of gold and vessels of brass in his hand,

11 q ue el rey David dedicó también al Señor, junto con la plata y el oro que había dedicado de todas las naciones que él había sometido:

which King David dedicated unto the LORD with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all Gentiles which he subdued

12 d e Aram y Moab, de los hijos de Amón, de los filisteos y de Amalec, y del botín de Hadad-ezer, hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba.

of the Syrians and of the Moabites and of the sons of Ammon and of the Philistines and of Amalekites and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13 Y se hizo David de renombre cuando regresó de derrotar a dieciocho mil arameos en el valle de la Sal.

And David received fame when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt eighteen thousand men.

14 P uso guarniciones en Edom; por todo Edom puso guarniciones, y todos los edomitas fueron siervos de David. Y el Señor daba la victoria a David dondequiera que iba. Oficiales de David

And he put garrisons in Edom; he put garrisons throughout all Edom, and all those of Edom became David’s slaves. And the LORD saved David wherever he went.

15 D avid reinó sobre todo Israel, y administraba justicia y derecho a todo su pueblo.

¶ And David reigned over all Israel, and David executed justice and righteousness unto all his people.

16 J oab, hijo de Sarvia, era jefe del ejército, y Josafat, hijo de Ahilud, era cronista;

And Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was over the host, and Jehoshaphat, the son of Ahilud, was the writer of chronicles;

17 S adoc, hijo de Ahitob, y Ahimelec, hijo de Abiatar, eran sacerdotes, y Seraías era secretario;

and Zadok, the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests, and Seraiah was the scribe,

18 B enaía, hijo de Joiada, era jefe de los cereteos y peleteos; y los hijos de David eran ministros principales.

and Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were priests.
