1 A sí dice el Señor: ¿Dónde está esa carta de divorcio con la que repudié a vuestra madre ? ¿O a cuál de mis acreedores os vendí ? He aquí, por vuestras iniquidades fuisteis vendidos, y por vuestras transgresiones fue repudiada vuestra madre.

¶ Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorce, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities ye are sold, and for your rebellions was your mother put away,

2 ¿ Por qué cuando vine no había nadie, y cuando llamé no había quien respondiera ? ¿Acaso es tan corta mi mano que no puede rescatar, o no tengo poder para librar? He aquí, con mi reprensión seco el mar, convierto los ríos en desierto; sus peces hieden por falta de agua, mueren de sed.

for I came, and no one showed himself; I called, and no one answered. Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stink because there is no water and die for thirst.

3 Y o visto de negrura los cielos, y hago de cilicio su cobertura.

I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

4 E l Señor Dios me ha dado lengua de discípulo, para que yo sepa sostener con una palabra al fatigado. Mañana tras mañana me despierta, despierta mi oído para escuchar como los discípulos.

¶ The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of the wise that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary; he wakes up early, early shall he awaken my ear, that I might hear, as the wise.

5 E l Señor Dios me ha abierto el oído; y no fui desobediente, ni me volví atrás.

The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.

6 D i mis espaldas a los que me herían, y mis mejillas a los que me arrancaban la barba; no escondí mi rostro de injurias y esputos.

I gave my back to the smiters and my cheeks to those that plucked off the hair: I did not hide my face from shame and spitting.

7 E l Señor Dios me ayuda, por eso no soy humillado, por eso como pedernal he puesto mi rostro, y sé que no seré avergonzado.

For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore, I was not ashamed; therefore, I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

8 C ercano está el que me justifica; ¿quién contenderá conmigo? Comparezcamos juntos; ¿quién es el enemigo de mi causa? Que se acerque a mí.

He is near that justifies me; who will contend with me? let us stand together; who is my adversary? let him come near to me.

9 H e aquí, el Señor Dios me ayuda; ¿quién es el que me condena ? He aquí, todos ellos como un vestido se gastarán, la polilla se los comerá.

Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? behold, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

10 ¿ Quién hay entre vosotros que tema al Señor, que oiga la voz de su siervo, que ande en tinieblas y no tenga luz ? Confíe en el nombre del Señor y apóyese en su Dios.

¶ Who is among you that fears the LORD? Hearken unto the voice of his slave. He who walked in darkness and had no light; let him trust in the name of the LORD and stay upon his God.

11 H e aquí, todos vosotros que encendéis fuego, que os rodeáis de teas, andad a la lumbre de vuestro fuego y entre las teas que habéis encendido. Esto os vendrá de mi mano: en tormento yaceréis.

Behold, that all of you kindle fire and are compassed about with sparks; walk in the light of your fire and of the sparks that ye have kindled. From my hand has come this; ye shall be buried in sorrow.
