1 Y Josafat durmió con sus padres, y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David, y su hijo Joram reinó en su lugar.

¶ Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram, his son, reigned in his stead.

2 Y tuvo hermanos, los hijos de Josafat: Azarías, Jehiel, Zacarías, Azaryahu, Micael y Sefatías. Todos estos eran hijos de Josafat, rey de Israel.

And he had brethren, sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah; all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat, king of Israel.

3 S u padre les había dado muchos presentes de plata, oro y cosas preciosas, y ciudades fortificadas en Judá, pero dio el reino a Joram porque era el primogénito.

And their father had given them great gifts of silver and of gold and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah, but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram because he was the firstborn.

4 C uando Joram tomó posesión del reino de su padre y se hizo fuerte, mató a espada a todos sus hermanos, y también a algunos de los jefes de Israel.

Now Jehoram rose up against the kingdom of his father, and he strengthened himself and slew all his brethren with the sword and likewise some of the princes of Israel.

5 J oram tenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.

Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

6 Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, tal como había hecho la casa de Acab (pues la hija de Acab era su mujer ), e hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab, for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife; and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.

7 S in embargo el Señor no quiso destruir la casa de David a causa del pacto que había hecho con David, y porque le había prometido darle una lámpara a él y a sus hijos para siempre.

However, the LORD would not destroy the house of David because of the covenant that he had made with David and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.

8 E n sus días se rebeló Edom contra el dominio de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre ellos.

In his days Edom rebelled from under the dominion of Judah and made themselves a king.

9 E ntonces pasó Joram con sus comandantes, y todos sus carros con él. Y aconteció que se levantó de noche y atacó a los edomitas que lo tenían cercado a él y a los comandantes de los carros.

Then Jehoram went forth with his princes and all his chariots with him, and he rose up by night and smote Edom who had compassed him in and all the captains of the chariots.

10 Y Edom se rebeló contra el dominio de Judá hasta el día de hoy. Entonces Libna se rebeló en ese mismo tiempo contra su dominio, porque Joram había abandonado al Señor, Dios de sus padres.

With all this Edom remained in rebellion, out from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Libnah also rebelled at the same time to not be under his hand because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.

11 H izo además lugares altos en los montes de Judá, haciendo que los habitantes de Jerusalén se prostituyeran y que Judá se desviara.

Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication and compelled Judah unto this.

12 Y le llegó una carta del profeta Elías, que decía: Así dice el Señor, Dios de tu padre David: “Por cuanto no has andado en los caminos de Josafat tu padre, ni en los caminos de Asa, rey de Judá,

¶ And a writing came to him from Elijah, the prophet, that said this: Thus hath the LORD, the God of David, thy father, said, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father nor in the ways of Asa, king of Judah,

13 s ino que has andado en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho que Judá y los habitantes de Israel se hayan prostituido como se prostituyó la casa de Acab, y también has matado a tus hermanos, tu propia familia, que eran mejores que tú,

but hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fornicate, like unto the fornication of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father’s house, who were better than thyself,

14 h e aquí, el Señor herirá con gran azote a tu pueblo, a tus hijos, a tus mujeres y a todas tus posesiones;

behold, the LORD shall smite thy people with a great plague, and thy sons and thy wives and all thy goods;

15 y tú sufrirás una grave enfermedad, una enfermedad de los intestinos, hasta que día tras día se te salgan a causa de la enfermedad.”

and thou shalt have great sickness, with disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.

16 E ntonces el Señor incitó contra Joram el espíritu de los filisteos y de los árabes que eran vecinos de los etíopes;

Then the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians;

17 y subieron contra Judá y la invadieron, y se llevaron todas las posesiones que se hallaban en la casa del rey, y también a sus hijos y a sus mujeres, de modo que no le quedó más hijo que Joacaz, el menor de sus hijos.

and they came up against Judah and invaded the land and carried away all the substance that was found in the king’s house, and his sons also and his wives so that none of his sons remained except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.

18 D espués de todo esto, el Señor lo hirió en los intestinos con una enfermedad incurable.

And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.

19 Y aconteció que con el correr del tiempo, al cabo de dos años, los intestinos se le salieron a causa de su enfermedad, y murió con grandes dolores. Y su pueblo no le encendió una hoguera como la hoguera que habían encendido por sus padres.

And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness; so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like they had done for his fathers.

20 T enía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén; y murió sin que nadie lo lamentara, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David, pero no en los sepulcros de los reyes.

He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years and departed without being desired. And they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
