1 T odo aquel que cree que Jesús es el Cristo, es nacido de Dios; y todo aquel que ama al Padre, ama al que ha nacido de El.

¶ Whosoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and anyone that loves him that begat also loves him that is born of him.

2 E n esto sabemos que amamos a los hijos de Dios: cuando amamos a Dios y guardamos sus mandamientos.

In this we know that we love the sons of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.

3 P orque este es el amor de Dios: que guardemos sus mandamientos, y sus mandamientos no son gravosos.

For this is the charity of God, that we keep his commandments, and his commandments are not grievous.

4 P orque todo lo que es nacido de Dios vence al mundo; y esta es la victoria que ha vencido al mundo: nuestra fe.

For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

5 ¿ Y quién es el que vence al mundo, sino el que cree que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios ? El testimonio acerca del Hijo

Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

6 E ste es el que vino mediante agua y sangre, Jesucristo; no sólo con agua, sino con agua y con sangre. Y el Espíritu es el que da testimonio, porque el Espíritu es la verdad.

¶ This is Jesus, the Christ, who came by water and blood; not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit is he that bears witness, because the Spirit is the truth.

7 P orque tres son los que dan testimonio en el cielo: el Padre, el Verbo y el Espíritu Santo, y estos tres son uno. Y tres son los que dan testimonio en la tierra:

For there are three that bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

8 e l Espíritu, el agua y la sangre, y los tres concuerdan.

And there are three that bear witness on earth, the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree in one.

9 S i recibimos el testimonio de los hombres, mayor es el testimonio de Dios; porque este es el testimonio de Dios: que El ha dado testimonio acerca de su Hijo.

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he has testified of his Son.

10 E l que cree en el Hijo de Dios tiene el testimonio en sí mismo; el que no cree a Dios, ha hecho a Dios mentiroso, porque no ha creído en el testimonio que Dios ha dado respecto a su Hijo.

¶ He that believes in the Son of God has the witness of God in himself; he that does not believe God has made God a liar; because he does not believe the witness that God has testified of his Son.

11 Y el testimonio es éste: que Dios nos ha dado vida eterna, y esta vida está en su Hijo.

And this is the witness, that God has given eternal life to us, and this life is in his Son.

12 E l que tiene al Hijo tiene la vida, y el que no tiene al Hijo de Dios, no tiene la vida. El conocimiento de la vida eterna

He that has the Son has life; and he that does not have the Son of God does not have life.

13 E stas cosas os he escrito a vosotros que creéis en el nombre del Hijo de Dios, para que sepáis que tenéis vida eterna.

These things I have written unto you that believe in the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life and that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God.

14 Y esta es la confianza que tenemos delante de El, que si pedimos cualquier cosa conforme a su voluntad, El nos oye.

¶ And this is the confidence that we have in God, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us:

15 Y si sabemos que El nos oye en cualquier cosa que pidamos, sabemos que tenemos las peticiones que le hemos hecho.

And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we also know that we have the petitions that we asked of him.

16 S i alguno ve a su hermano cometiendo un pecado que no lleva a la muerte, pedirá, y por él Dios dará vida a los que cometen pecado que no lleva a la muerte. Hay un pecado que lleva a la muerte; yo no digo que deba pedir por ése.

If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask God, and he shall give him life that is, unto those that do not sin unto death. There is sin unto death, for which I do not say that you should pray.

17 T oda injusticia es pecado, y hay pecado que no lleva a la muerte. Declaraciones finales

All unrighteousness is sin, but there is a sin not unto death.

18 S abemos que todo el que ha nacido de Dios, no peca; sino que aquel que nació de Dios lo guarda y el maligno no lo toca.

¶ We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.

19 S abemos que somos de Dios, y que todo el mundo yace bajo el poder del maligno.

And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness.

20 Y sabemos que el Hijo de Dios ha venido y nos ha dado entendimiento a fin de que conozcamos al que es verdadero; y nosotros estamos en aquel que es verdadero, en su Hijo Jesucristo. Este es el verdadero Dios y la vida eterna.

But we know that the Son of God is come and has given us understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

21 H ijos, guardaos de los ídolos.

Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
