1 P or aquel tiempo Abías, hijo de Jeroboam, se enfermó.

¶ At that time Abijah, the son of Jeroboam, fell sick.

2 Y Jeroboam dijo a su mujer: Levántate ahora y disfrázate para que no conozcan que eres la mujer de Jeroboam, y ve a Silo; he aquí, allí está el profeta Ahías, que dijo de mí que yo sería rey sobre este pueblo.

And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou not be known to be the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh, for Ahijah the prophet is there, who told me that I should be king over this people.

3 T oma en tus manos diez panes, tortas y un jarro de miel, y ve a él. El te dirá lo que le ha de suceder al niño.

And take with thee ten loaves and cracknels and a cruse of honey and go to him, that he shall tell thee what shall become of this child.

4 A sí lo hizo la mujer de Jeroboam; se levantó, fue a Silo y llegó a casa de Ahías. Y Ahías no podía ver porque sus ojos se habían nublado a causa de su vejez.

And Jeroboam’s wife did so and arose and went to Shiloh and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

5 M as el Señor había dicho a Ahías: He aquí, la mujer de Jeroboam viene a consultarte sobre su hijo, pues está enfermo. Esto y esto le dirás, pues será que cuando ella venga, fingirá ser otra mujer.

But the LORD had said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam shall come to consult thee regarding her son, who is sick; thus and thus shalt thou say unto her, for it shall be, when she comes, that she shall come in disguise.

6 Y sucedió que cuando Ahías oyó el ruido de los pasos de ella al entrar por la puerta, dijo: Entra, mujer de Jeroboam. ¿Por qué finges ser otra mujer? Pues he sido enviado a ti con un duro mensaje.

And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, wife of Jeroboam; why art thou in disguise? For I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.

7 V e, di a Jeroboam: “Así dice el Señor, Dios de Israel: ‘Por cuanto te levanté de entre el pueblo y te hice príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel,

¶ Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus hath the LORD God of Israel said, Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people and made thee prince over my people Israel,

8 y arranqué el reino de la casa de David y te lo di a ti, pero tú no has sido como mi siervo David, que guardó mis mandamientos y me siguió de todo corazón, para hacer sólo lo que era recto a mis ojos;

and rent the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it thee, and yet thou hast not been as my slave David, who kept my commandments and who followed me with all his heart, to doing only that which was right in my eyes,

9 s ino que has hecho más mal que todos los que fueron antes de ti, y fuiste e hiciste para ti otros dioses e imágenes fundidas para provocarme a ira, y me arrojaste detrás de tus espaldas;

but hast done evil above all that were before thee, for thou hast gone and made thee other gods and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back;

10 p or tanto, he aquí, traigo mal sobre la casa de Jeroboam, y cortaré de Jeroboam a todo varón, tanto esclavo como libre en Israel; barreré completamente la casa de Jeroboam, como se barre el estiércol hasta que desaparece del todo.

therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone that pisses against the wall, the one that is shut up along with the one that is left in Israel, and will burn away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man burns away dung until it is all gone.

11 ‘ Cualquiera de los de Jeroboam que muera en la ciudad, se lo comerán los perros. Y el que muera en el campo, se lo comerán las aves del cielo; porque el Señor ha hablado.’”

The one that dies of those of Jeroboam in the city, the dogs shall eat, and the one that dies in the field, the fowls of the air shall eat; for the LORD has spoken it.

12 Y tú, levántate, vete a tu casa. Cuando tus pies entren en la ciudad, el niño morirá.

Arise thou, therefore, go to thy own house, and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

13 Y todo Israel hará duelo por él y lo sepultarán, pues sólo éste de la familia de Jeroboam irá a la sepultura, porque de la casa de Jeroboam, sólo en él fue hallado algo bueno hacia el Señor, Dios de Israel.

And all Israel shall mourn for him and bury him, for he only of those of Jeroboam shall enter into the grave because in him there is found some good thing of the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.

14 Y el Señor levantará para sí un rey sobre Israel que destruirá la casa de Jeroboam en este día, y de ahora en adelante.

And the LORD shall raise up a king over Israel who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam in this day, but what if even now?

15 E l Señor, pues, herirá a Israel, como se agita una caña en el agua, y El arrancará a Israel de esta buena tierra que dio a sus padres, y los esparcirá más allá del río Eufrates, porque han hecho sus Aseras, provocando a ira al Señor.

For the LORD shall smite Israel as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he had given to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.

16 Y abandonará a Israel a causa de los pecados que cometió Jeroboam y con los cuales hizo pecar a Israel.

And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who sinned and who has made Israel sin.

17 E ntonces la mujer de Jeroboam se levantó, se fue y llegó a Tirsa. Y al entrar ella por el umbral de la casa, el niño murió.

Then Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed and came to Tirzah; and as she entered by the threshold of the house, the child died.

18 Y todo Israel lo sepultó e hizo duelo por él, conforme a la palabra que el Señor había hablado por medio de su siervo, el profeta Ahías.

And they buried him, and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD, which he had spoken by the hand of his slave Ahijah, the prophet.

19 L os demás hechos de Jeroboam, cómo guerreó y cómo reinó, he aquí, están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Israel.

And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

20 E l tiempo que Jeroboam reinó fue veintidós años, y durmió con sus padres; y su hijo Nadab reinó en su lugar. Reinado de Roboam

And the days which Jeroboam reigned were twenty-two years, and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab, his son, reigned in his stead.

21 Y Roboam, hijo de Salomón, reinó en Judá. Roboam tenía cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó diecisiete años en Jerusalén, la ciudad que el Señor había escogido de entre todas las tribus de Israel para poner allí su nombre. El nombre de su madre era Naama, amonita.

¶ And Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD chose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess.

22 J udá hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, y le provocaron a celos más que todo lo que sus padres le habían provocado con los pecados que habían hecho.

And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to anger more than all that their fathers had done in their sins which they committed.

23 P orque ellos también edificaron para sí lugares altos, pilares sagrados y Aseras en toda colina alta y bajo todo árbol frondoso.

For they also built themselves high places and statues, and groves on every high hill and under every green tree.

24 H ubo también en la tierra sodomitas de cultos paganos. Hicieron conforme a todas las abominaciones de las naciones que el Señor había echado delante de los hijos de Israel.

And there were also male cult prostitutes in the land, and they did according to all the abominations of the Gentiles which the LORD had cast out before the sons of Israel.

25 Y sucedió que en el quinto año del rey Roboam, Sisac, rey de Egipto, subió contra Jerusalén.

And it came to pass in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem.

26 Y tomó los tesoros de la casa del Señor y los tesoros del palacio del rey; se apoderó de todo, llevándose aun todos los escudos de oro que había hecho Salomón.

And he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king’s house; he took it all away, and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

27 E ntonces el rey Roboam hizo escudos de bronce en su lugar, y los entregó al cuidado de los jefes de la guardia que custodiaban la entrada de la casa del rey.

And King Rehoboam made in their stead brasen shields and committed them unto the hands of the chief of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.

28 Y sucedía que cuando el rey entraba en la casa del Señor, los de la guardia los llevaban; después los devolvían a la sala de los de la guardia.

And when the king went into the house of the LORD, the guard bore them and brought them back afterward into the guard chamber.

29 L os demás hechos de Roboam y todo lo que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

30 Y hubo guerra continua entre Roboam y Jeroboam.

And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days.

31 Y durmió Roboam con sus padres y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David; y el nombre de su madre era Naama, amonita. Y su hijo Abiam reinó en su lugar.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess. And Abijam, his son, reigned in his stead.
