1 N aquele tempo adoeceu Abias, filho de Jeroboão.

¶ At that time Abijah, the son of Jeroboam, fell sick.

2 E disse Jeroboão a sua mulher: Levanta-te, e disfarça-te, para que não conheçam que és mulher de Jeroboão, e vai a Siló. Eis que lá está o profeta Aías, o qual falou acerca de mim que eu seria rei sobre este povo.

And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou not be known to be the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh, for Ahijah the prophet is there, who told me that I should be king over this people.

3 L eva contigo dez pães, alguns bolos e uma botija de mel, e vai ter com ele; ele te declarará o que há de suceder a este menino.

And take with thee ten loaves and cracknels and a cruse of honey and go to him, that he shall tell thee what shall become of this child.

4 A ssim, pois, fez a mulher de Jeroboão; e, levantando-se, foi a Siló, e entrou na casa de Aías. Este já não podia ver, pois seus olhos haviam cegado por causa da velhice.

And Jeroboam’s wife did so and arose and went to Shiloh and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

5 O Senhor, porém, dissera a Aías: Eis que a mulher de Jeroboão vem consultar-te sobre seu filho, que está doente. Assim e assim lhe falarás; porque há de ser que, entrando ela, fingirá ser outra.

But the LORD had said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam shall come to consult thee regarding her son, who is sick; thus and thus shalt thou say unto her, for it shall be, when she comes, that she shall come in disguise.

6 S ucedeu que, ouvindo Aías o ruído de seus pés, ao entrar ela pela porta, disse: Entra, mulher de Jeroboão; por que te disfarças assim? Pois eu sou enviado a ti com duras novas.

And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, wife of Jeroboam; why art thou in disguise? For I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.

7 V ai, dize a Jeroboão: Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: Porquanto te exaltei do meio do povo, e te constituí príncipe sobre o meu povo de Israel,

¶ Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus hath the LORD God of Israel said, Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people and made thee prince over my people Israel,

8 e rasguei o reino da casa de Davi, e o dei a ti; todavia não tens sido como o meu servo Davi, que guardou os meus mandamentos e que me seguiu de todo o coração para fazer somente o que era reto aos meus olhos;

and rent the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it thee, and yet thou hast not been as my slave David, who kept my commandments and who followed me with all his heart, to doing only that which was right in my eyes,

9 m as tens praticado o mal, pior do que todos os que foram antes de ti, e foste fizeste para ti outros deuses e imagens de fundição, para provocar-me ã ira, e me lançaste para trás das tuas costas;

but hast done evil above all that were before thee, for thou hast gone and made thee other gods and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back;

10 p ortanto, eis que trarei o mal sobre a casa de Jeroboão, e exterminarei de Jeroboão todo homem, escravo ou livre, em Israel, e lançarei fora os remanescentes da casa de Jeroboão, como se lança fora o esterco, até que de todo se acabe.

therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone that pisses against the wall, the one that is shut up along with the one that is left in Israel, and will burn away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man burns away dung until it is all gone.

11 Q uem morrer a Jeroboão na cidade, comê-lo-ão os cães; e o que lhe morrer no campo, comê-lo-ão as aves do céu; porque o Senhor o disse.

The one that dies of those of Jeroboam in the city, the dogs shall eat, and the one that dies in the field, the fowls of the air shall eat; for the LORD has spoken it.

12 L evanta-te, pois, e vai-te para tua casa; ao entrarem os teus pés na cidade, o menino morrerá.

Arise thou, therefore, go to thy own house, and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

13 E todo o Israel o pranteará, e o sepultará; porque de Jeroboão só este entrará em sepultura, porquanto, dos da casa de Jeroboão, só nele se achou alguma coisa boa para com o Senhor Deus de Israel.

And all Israel shall mourn for him and bury him, for he only of those of Jeroboam shall enter into the grave because in him there is found some good thing of the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.

14 O Senhor, porém, levantará para si um rei sobre Israel, que destruirá a casa de Jeroboão nesse dia. - E agora, que será?

And the LORD shall raise up a king over Israel who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam in this day, but what if even now?

15 F erirá o Senhor a Israel, como se agita a cana nas águas; e arrancará a Israel desta boa terra que tinha dado a seus pais, e o espalhará para além do rio, porquanto fizeram os seus aserins, provocando o Senhor ã ira.

For the LORD shall smite Israel as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he had given to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.

16 E entregará Israel por causa dos pecados de Jeroboão, o qual pecou e fez pecar a Israel.

And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who sinned and who has made Israel sin.

17 E ntão a mulher de Jeroboão se levantou e partiu, e veio para Tirza; chegando ela ao limiar da casa, o menino morreu.

Then Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed and came to Tirzah; and as she entered by the threshold of the house, the child died.

18 E todo o Israel o sepultou e o pranteou, conforme a palavra do Senhor, que ele falara por intermédio de seu servo Aías, o profeta.

And they buried him, and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD, which he had spoken by the hand of his slave Ahijah, the prophet.

19 Q uanto ao restante dos atos de Jeroboão, como guerreou, e como reinou, eis que está escrito no livro das crônicas dos reis de Israel.

And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

20 E o tempo que Jeroboão reinou foi vinte e dois anos. E dormiu com seus pais; e Nadabe, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

And the days which Jeroboam reigned were twenty-two years, and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab, his son, reigned in his stead.

21 R einou em Judá Roboão, filho de Salomão. Tinha quarenta e um anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou dezessete anos em Jerusalém, a cidade que o Senhor escolhera dentre todas as tribos de Israel para pôr ali o seu nome. E era o nome de sua mãe Naama, a amonita.

¶ And Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD chose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess.

22 E fez Judá o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor; e, com os seus pecados que cometeram, provocaram-no a zelos, mais do que o fizeram os seus pais.

And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to anger more than all that their fathers had done in their sins which they committed.

23 P orque também eles edificaram altos, e colunas, e aserins sobre todo alto outeiro e debaixo de toda árvore frondosa;

For they also built themselves high places and statues, and groves on every high hill and under every green tree.

24 e havia também sodomitas na terra: fizeram conforme todas as abominações dos povos que o Senhor tinha expulsado de diante dos filhos de Israel.

And there were also male cult prostitutes in the land, and they did according to all the abominations of the Gentiles which the LORD had cast out before the sons of Israel.

25 O ra, sucedeu que, no quinto ano do rei Roboão, Sisaque, rei do Egito, subiu contra Jerusalém,

And it came to pass in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem.

26 e tomou os tesouros da casa de Senhor e os tesouros da casa do rei; levou tudo. Também tomou todos os escudos de ouro que Salomão tinha feito.

And he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king’s house; he took it all away, and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

27 E m lugar deles, fez o rei Roboão escudos de bronze, e os entregou nas mãos dos capitães da guarda, que guardavam a porta da casa do rei.

And King Rehoboam made in their stead brasen shields and committed them unto the hands of the chief of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.

28 E todas as vezes que o rei entrava na casa do Senhor os da guarda levavam os escudos, e depois tornavam a pô-los na câmara da guarda.

And when the king went into the house of the LORD, the guard bore them and brought them back afterward into the guard chamber.

29 Q uanto ao restante dos atos de Reboão, e a tudo quanto fez, porventura não estão escritos no livro das crônicas dos reis de Judá?

Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

30 H ouve guerra continuamente entre Roboão e Jeroboão.

And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days.

31 E Roboão dormiu com seus pais, e foi sepultado com eles na cidade de Davi. Era o nome de sua mãe Naama, a amonita. E Abião, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess. And Abijam, his son, reigned in his stead.
