1 S ede pois imitadores de Deus, como filhos amados;

¶ Be ye therefore imitators of God, as dear children

2 e andai em amor, como Cristo também vos amou, e se entregou a si mesmo por nós, como oferta e sacrifício a Deus, em cheiro suave.

and walk in charity even as the Christ also has loved us and has given himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

3 M as a prostituição, e toda sorte de impureza ou cobiça, nem sequer se nomeie entre vós, como convém a santos,

¶ But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not be once named among you as becomes saints,

4 n em baixeza, nem conversa tola, nem gracejos indecentes, coisas essas que não convêm; mas antes ações de graças.

neither dishonest words nor foolishness nor low jesting, which are not convenient, but rather giving of thanks.

5 P orque bem sabeis isto: que nenhum devasso, ou impuro, ou avarento, o qual é idólatra, tem herança no reino de Cristo e de Deus.

For this ye know, that no fornicator nor unclean person nor covetous man, who is also an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6 N inguém vos engane com palavras vãs; porque por estas coisas vem a ira de Deus sobre os filhos da desobediência.

Let no one deceive you with vain words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

7 P ortanto não sejais participantes com eles;

Be not ye, therefore, partakers with them.

8 p ois outrora éreis trevas, mas agora sois luz no Senhor; andai como filhos da luz

For in another time ye were darkness, but now ye are light in the Lord: walk as children of light;

9 ( pois o fruto da luz está em toda a bondade, e justiça e verdade),

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth),

10 p rovando o que é agradável ao Senhor;

approving what is well pleasing unto the Lord.

11 e não vos associeis

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12 p orque as coisas feitas por eles em oculto, até o dizê-las é vergonhoso.

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which they do in secret.

13 M as todas estas coisas, sendo condenadas, se manifestam pela luz, pois tudo o que se manifesta é luz.

But all these things when they are reproved by the light are made manifest, for the light is that which manifests everything.

14 P elo que diz: Desperta, tu que dormes, e levanta-te dentre os mortos, e Cristo te iluminará.

Therefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest and arise from the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon thee.

15 P ortanto, vede diligentemente como andais, não como néscios, mas como sábios,

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 u sando bem cada oportunidade, porquanto os dias são maus.

redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 P or isso, não sejais insensatos, mas entendei qual seja a vontade do Senhor.

Therefore, be ye not unwise, but understanding of what the will of the Lord is.

18 E não vos embriagueis com vinho, no qual há devassidão, mas enchei-vos do Espírito,

And be not drunk with wine, in which there is excess, but be filled with the Spirit,

19 f alando entre vós em salmos, hinos, e cânticos espirituais, cantando e salmodiando ao Senhor no vosso coração,

speaking among yourselves with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and praising the Lord in your hearts,

20 s empre dando graças por tudo a Deus, o Pai, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,

giving thanks always for all things unto the God and Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

21 s ujeitando-vos uns aos outros no temor de Cristo.

¶ submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

22 V ós, mulheres, submetei-vos a vossos maridos, como ao Senhor;

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husband, as unto the Lord.

23 p orque o marido é a cabeça da mulher, como também Cristo é a cabeça da igreja, sendo ele próprio o Salvador do corpo.

For the husband is the head of the wife even as the Christ is head of the congregation, and it is he who gives saving health to the body.

24 M as, assim como a igreja está sujeita a Cristo, assim também as mulheres o sejam em tudo a seus maridos.

Therefore, as the congregation is subject unto the Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

25 V ós, maridos, amai a vossas mulheres, como também Cristo amou a igreja, e a si mesmo se entregou por ela,

Husbands, love your wives even as the Christ also loved the congregation and gave himself for her,

26 a fim de a santificar, tendo-a purificado com a lavagem da água, pela palavra,

that he might sanctify and cleanse her in the washing of water by the word,

27 p ara apresentá-la a si mesmo igreja gloriosa, sem mácula, nem ruga, nem qualquer coisa semelhante, mas santa e irrepreensível.

that he might present her glorious for himself, a congregation, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

28 A ssim devem os maridos amar a suas próprias mulheres, como a seus próprios corpos. Quem ama a sua mulher, ama-se a si mesmo.

So ought husbands to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself.

29 P ois nunca ninguém aborreceu a sua própria carne, antes a nutre e preza, como também Cristo ã igreja;

For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it even as the Lord with his congregation:

30 p orque somos membros do seu corpo.

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31 P or isso deixará o homem a seu pai e a sua mãe, e se unirá ã sua mulher, e serão os dois uma só carne.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and shall be joined unto his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh.

32 G rande é este mistério, mas eu falo em referência a Cristo e ã igreja.

This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the congregation.

33 T odavia também vós, cada um de per si, assim ame a sua própria mulher como a si mesmo, e a mulher reverencie a seu marido.

Nevertheless, let each one of you do likewise, let each one so love his wife even as himself, and let the wife see that she reverences her husband.
