1 F alais deveras o que é reto, vós os poderosos? Julgais retamente, ó filhos dos homens?

¶ Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of Adam?

2 N ão, antes no coração forjais iniqüidade; sobre a terra fazeis pesar a violência das vossas mãos.

Yea, in heart ye work iniquity; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

3 A lienam-se os ímpios desde a madre; andam errados desde que nasceram, proferindo mentiras.

The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.

4 T êm veneno semelhante ao veneno da serpente; são como a víbora surda, que tapa os seus ouvidos,

Their poison is like the poison of a serpent; they are like the deaf adder that stops her ear,

which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous; verily there is a God that judges in the earth.
