1 E aqueles três homens cessaram de responder a Jó; porque era justo aos seus próprios olhos.

¶ So these three men ceased to answer Job because he was righteous in his own eyes.

2 E ntão se acendeu a ira de Eliú, filho de Baraquel, o buzita, da família de Rão; acendeu-se a sua ira contra Jó, porque este se justificava a si mesmo, e não a Deus.

Then the wrath of Elihu, the son of Barachel, the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram, was kindled; against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.

3 T ambém contra os seus três amigos se acendeu a sua ira, porque não tinham achado o que responder, e contudo tinham condenado a Jó.

Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

4 O ra, Eliú havia esperado para falar a Jó, porque eles eram mais idosos do que ele.

Now Elihu had waited until Job had spoken because they were all elder than he.

5 Q uando, pois, Eliú viu que não havia resposta na boca daqueles três homens, acendeu-se-lhe a ira.

But when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.

6 E ntão respondeu Eliú, filho de Baraquel, o buzita, dizendo: Eu sou de pouca idade, e vós sois, idosos; arreceei-me e temi de vos declarar a minha opinião.

¶ And Elihu, the son of Barachel, the Buzite, answered and said, I am younger, and ye are older; therefore, I was afraid, and I feared to declare unto you my opinion.

7 D izia eu: Falem os dias, e a multidão dos anos ensine a sabedoria.

I said, Days shall speak, and the multitude of years shall declare wisdom.

8 H á, porém, um espírito no homem, e o sopro do Todo-Poderoso o faz entendido.

Certainly there is a spirit in man, and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them understanding.

9 N ão são os velhos que são os sábios, nem os anciãos que entendem o que é reto.

Great men are not always wise; neither do the aged understand judgment.

10 P elo que digo: Ouvi-me, e também eu declararei a minha opinião.

Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will declare my knowledge.

11 E is que aguardei as vossas palavras, escutei as vossas considerações, enquanto buscáveis o que dizer.

Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your arguments, while ye searched out what to say.

12 E u, pois, vos prestava toda a minha atenção, e eis que não houve entre vós quem convencesse a Jó, nem quem respondesse

Even so, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you to reprove Job or to answer his words.

13 p elo que não digais: Achamos a sabedoria; Deus é que pode derrubá-lo, e não o homem.

Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom; it is needful that God thrust him down, and not man.

14 O ra ele não dirigiu contra mim palavra alguma, nem lhe responderei com as vossas palavras.

Now he has not directed his words against me; neither will I answer him with your reasons.

15 E stão pasmados, não respondem mais; faltam-lhes as palavras.

¶ They were amazed, they answered no more; they left off speaking.

16 H ei de eu esperar, porque eles não falam, porque já pararam, e não respondem mais?

And I waited, (for they did not speak, but stopped, and answered no more);

17 E u também darei a minha resposta; eu também declararei a minha opinião.

I said, I will also answer my part, I will also declare my opinion.

18 P ois estou cheio de palavras; o espírito dentro de mim me constrange.

For I am full of words; the spirit within me constrains me.

19 E is que o meu peito é como o mosto, sem respiradouro, como odres novos que estão para arrebentar.

Behold, my belly is as wine which has no vent; it is ready to burst forth like spirits.

20 F alarei, para que ache alívio; abrirei os meus lábios e responderei:

I will speak, that I may be able to breathe; I will open my lips and answer.

21 Q ue não faça eu acepção de pessoas, nem use de lisonjas para com o homem.

I will not now be a respecter of persons, neither will I give flattering titles unto man.

22 P orque não sei usar de lisonjas; do contrário, em breve me levaria o meu Criador.

For I do not know how to give flattering titles; otherwise my maker would soon take me away.
