1 C es trois hommes cessèrent de répondre à Job, parce qu'il se regardait comme juste.

¶ So these three men ceased to answer Job because he was righteous in his own eyes.

2 A lors s'enflamma de colère Élihu, fils de Barakeel de Buz, de la famille de Ram. Sa colère s'enflamma contre Job, parce qu'il se disait juste devant Dieu.

Then the wrath of Elihu, the son of Barachel, the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram, was kindled; against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.

3 E t sa colère s'enflamma contre ses trois amis, parce qu'ils ne trouvaient rien à répondre et que néanmoins ils condamnaient Job.

Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

4 C omme ils étaient plus âgés que lui, Élihu avait attendu jusqu'à ce moment pour parler à Job.

Now Elihu had waited until Job had spoken because they were all elder than he.

5 M ais, voyant qu'il n'y avait plus de réponse dans la bouche de ces trois hommes, Élihu s'enflamma de colère.

But when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.

6 E t Élihu, fils de Barakeel de Buz, prit la parole et dit: Je suis jeune, et vous êtes des vieillards; C'est pourquoi j'ai craint, j'ai redouté De vous faire connaître mon sentiment.

¶ And Elihu, the son of Barachel, the Buzite, answered and said, I am younger, and ye are older; therefore, I was afraid, and I feared to declare unto you my opinion.

7 J e disais en moi-même: Les jours parleront, Le grand nombre des années enseignera la sagesse.

I said, Days shall speak, and the multitude of years shall declare wisdom.

8 M ais en réalité, dans l'homme, c'est l'esprit, Le souffle du Tout Puissant, qui donne l'intelligence;

Certainly there is a spirit in man, and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them understanding.

9 C e n'est pas l'âge qui procure la sagesse, Ce n'est pas la vieillesse qui rend capable de juger.

Great men are not always wise; neither do the aged understand judgment.

10 V oilà pourquoi je dis: Écoute! Moi aussi, j'exposerai ma pensée.

Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will declare my knowledge.

11 J 'ai attendu la fin de vos discours, J'ai suivi vos raisonnements, Votre examen des paroles de Job.

Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your arguments, while ye searched out what to say.

12 J e vous ai donné toute mon attention; Et voici, aucun de vous ne l'a convaincu, Aucun n'a réfuté ses paroles.

Even so, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you to reprove Job or to answer his words.

13 N e dites pas cependant: En lui nous avons trouvé la sagesse; C'est Dieu qui peut le confondre, ce n'est pas un homme!

Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom; it is needful that God thrust him down, and not man.

14 I l ne s'est pas adressé directement à moi: Aussi lui répondrai-je tout autrement que vous.

Now he has not directed his words against me; neither will I answer him with your reasons.

15 I ls ont peur, ils ne répondent plus! Ils ont la parole coupée!

¶ They were amazed, they answered no more; they left off speaking.

16 J 'ai attendu qu'ils eussent fini leurs discours, Qu'ils s'arrêtassent et ne sussent que répliquer.

And I waited, (for they did not speak, but stopped, and answered no more);

17 A mon tour, je veux répondre aussi, Je veux dire aussi ce que je pense.

I said, I will also answer my part, I will also declare my opinion.

18 C ar je suis plein de paroles, L'esprit me presse au dedans de moi;

For I am full of words; the spirit within me constrains me.

19 M on intérieur est comme un vin qui n'a pas d'issue, Comme des outres neuves qui vont éclater.

Behold, my belly is as wine which has no vent; it is ready to burst forth like spirits.

20 J e parlerai pour respirer à l'aise, J'ouvrirai mes lèvres et je répondrai.

I will speak, that I may be able to breathe; I will open my lips and answer.

21 J e n'aurai point égard à l'apparence, Et je ne flatterai personne;

I will not now be a respecter of persons, neither will I give flattering titles unto man.

22 C ar je ne sais pas flatter: Mon créateur m'enlèverait bien vite.

For I do not know how to give flattering titles; otherwise my maker would soon take me away.
