1 ( 21: 1) Au chef des chantres. Psaume de David. (21: 2) Éternel! le roi se réjouit de ta protection puissante. Oh! comme ton secours le remplit d'allégresse!

¶ The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy saving health how greatly shall he rejoice!

2 ( 21: 3) Tu lui as donné ce que désirait son coeur, Et tu n'as pas refusé ce que demandaient ses lèvres. -Pause.

Thou hast given him his heart’s desire and hast not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.

3 ( 21: 4) Car tu l'as prévenu par les bénédictions de ta grâce, Tu as mis sur sa tête une couronne d'or pur.

For thou givest him beforehand the blessings of goodness; thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.

4 ( 21: 5) Il te demandait la vie, tu la lui as donnée, Une vie longue pour toujours et à perpétuité.

He asked life of thee, and thou didst give him length of days for ever and ever.

5 ( 21: 6) Sa gloire est grande à cause de ton secours; Tu places sur lui l'éclat et la magnificence.

His glory is great in thy saving health; honour and beauty hast thou laid upon him.

6 ( 21: 7) Tu le rends à jamais un objet de bénédictions, Tu le combles de joie devant ta face.

For thou hast made him most blessed for ever; thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.

7 ( 21: 8) Le roi se confie en l'Éternel; Et, par la bonté du Très Haut, il ne chancelle pas.

¶ For the king trusts in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.

8 ( 21: 9) Ta main trouvera tous tes ennemis, Ta droite trouvera ceux qui te haïssent.

Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies; thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.

9 ( 21: 10) Tu les rendras tels qu'une fournaise ardente, Le jour où tu te montreras; L'Éternel les anéantira dans sa colère, Et le feu les dévorera.

Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger; the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

10 ( 21: 11) Tu feras disparaître leur postérité de la terre, Et leur race du milieu des fils de l'homme.

Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth and their seed from among the children of men.

11 ( 21: 12) Ils ont projeté du mal contre toi, Ils ont conçu de mauvais desseins, mais ils seront impuissants.

For they intended evil against thee; they imagined a wicked device, but they did not prevail.

12 ( 21: 13) Car tu leur feras tourner le dos, Et avec ton arc tu tireras sur eux.

Therefore shalt thou separate them; thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.

13 ( 21: 14) Lève-toi, Éternel, avec ta force! Nous voulons chanter, célébrer ta puissance.

Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy valour.
