1 J 'ai exaucé ceux qui ne demandaient rien, Je me suis laissé trouver par ceux qui ne me cherchaient pas; J'ai dit: Me voici, me voici! A une nation qui ne s'appelait pas de mon nom.

¶ I was sought of those that did not ask for me; I was found of those that did not seek me; I said, Here I am, Here I am, unto a people that did not invoke my name.

2 J 'ai tendu mes mains tous les jours vers un peuple rebelle, Qui marche dans une voie mauvaise, Au gré de ses pensées;

I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, who walk in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;

3 V ers un peuple qui ne cesse de m'irriter en face, Sacrifiant dans les jardins, Et brûlant de l'encens sur les briques:

a people that provokes me to anger continually to my face; that sacrifices in gardens, and burns incense upon altars of brick;

4 Q ui fait des sépulcres sa demeure, Et passe la nuit dans les cavernes, Mangeant de la chair de porc, Et ayant dans ses vases des mets impurs;

who remain asleep among the graves, and lodge in the deserts, who eat swine’s flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels;

5 Q ui dit: Retire-toi, Ne m'approche pas, car je suis saint!... De pareilles choses, c'est une fumée dans mes narines, C'est un feu qui brûle toujours.

who say, Stand by thyself, do not come near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all the day.

6 V oici ce que j'ai résolu par devers moi: Loin de me taire, je leur ferai porter la peine, Oui, je leur ferai porter la peine

Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom,

7 D e vos crimes, dit l'Éternel, et des crimes de vos pères, Qui ont brûlé de l'encens sur les montagnes, Et qui m'ont outragé sur les collines; Je leur mesurerai le salaire de leurs actions passées.

For your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, who have burned incense upon the mountains and blasphemed me upon the hills; therefore, I will measure their former work into their bosom.

8 A insi parle l'Éternel: Quand il se trouve du jus dans une grappe, On dit: Ne la détruis pas, Car il y a là une bénédiction! J'agirai de même, pour l'amour de mes serviteurs, Afin de ne pas tout détruire.

¶ Thus has the LORD said, As when one has found new wine in a cluster and says, Do not destroy it; for a blessing is in it; so will I do for my slaves’ sakes, that I may not destroy them all.

9 J e ferai sortir de Jacob une postérité, Et de Juda un héritier de mes montagnes; Mes élus posséderont le pays, Et mes serviteurs y habiteront.

And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains; and my elect shall possess the land for an inheritance, and my slaves shall dwell there.

10 L e Saron servira de pâturage au menu bétail, Et la vallée d'Acor servira de gîte au gros bétail, Pour mon peuple qui m'aura cherché.

And Sharon shall be for a fold of flocks and the valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought me.

11 M ais vous, qui abandonnez l'Éternel, Qui oubliez ma montagne sainte, Qui dressez une table pour Gad, Et remplissez une coupe pour Meni,

¶ But ye that forsake the LORD, that forget the mountain of my holiness, that prepare a table unto fortune, and that furnish the drink offering for destiny;

12 J e vous destine au glaive, Et vous fléchirez tous le genou pour être égorgés; Car j'ai appelé, et vous n'avez point répondu, J'ai parlé, et vous n'avez point écouté; Mais vous avez fait ce qui est mal à mes yeux, Et vous avez choisi ce qui me déplaît.

I also will destine you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter because when I called, ye did not respond; I spoke, and ye did not hear, but did evil before my eyes and did choose that which displeased me.

13 C 'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, mes serviteurs mangeront, et vous aurez faim; Voici, mes serviteurs boiront, et vous aurez soif; Voici, mes serviteurs se réjouiront, et vous serez confondus;

Therefore thus has the Lord GOD said, Behold, my slaves shall eat, but ye shall be hungry; behold, my slaves shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty; behold, my slaves shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:

14 V oici, mes serviteurs chanteront dans la joie de leur coeur; Mais vous, vous crierez dans la douleur de votre âme, Et vous vous lamenterez dans l'abattement de votre esprit.

Behold, my slaves shall rejoice by the joy of their heart, but ye shall cry for the sorrow of your heart and shall howl for the destruction of spirit.

15 V ous laisserez votre nom en imprécation à mes élus; Le Seigneur, l'Éternel, vous fera mourir, Et il donnera à ses serviteurs un autre nom.

And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen; for the Lord GOD shall slay thee and call his slaves by another name.

16 C elui qui voudra être béni dans le pays Voudra l'être par le Dieu de vérité, Et celui qui jurera dans le pays Jurera par le Dieu de vérité; Car les anciennes souffrances seront oubliées, Elles seront cachées à mes yeux.

He who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth because the former troubles shall be forgotten and shall be covered from my eyes.

17 C ar je vais créer de nouveaux cieux Et une nouvelle terre; On ne se rappellera plus les choses passées, Elles ne reviendront plus à l'esprit.

¶ For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

18 R éjouissez-vous plutôt et soyez à toujours dans l'allégresse, A cause de ce que je vais créer; Car je vais créer Jérusalem pour l'allégresse, Et son peuple pour la joie.

But ye shall be glad and rejoice from age to age in the things which I shall create; for, behold, I create joy unto Jerusalem and unto her people joy.

19 J e ferai de Jérusalem mon allégresse, Et de mon peuple ma joie; On n'y entendra plus Le bruit des pleurs et le bruit des cris.

And I will be glad with Jerusalem and rejoice with my people: and the voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, nor the voice of crying.

20 I l n'y aura plus ni enfants ni vieillards Qui n'accomplissent leurs jours; Car celui qui mourra à cent ans sera jeune, Et le pécheur âgé de cent ans sera maudit.

There shall no longer be there an infant of days, nor an old man that has not filled his days, for the child shall die one hundred years old; and he who sins at one hundred years of age shall be accursed.

21 I ls bâtiront des maisons et les habiteront; Ils planteront des vignes et en mangeront le fruit.

And they shall build houses and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards and eat the fruit of them.

22 I ls ne bâtiront pas des maisons pour qu'un autre les habite, Ils ne planteront pas des vignes pour qu'un autre en mange le fruit; Car les jours de mon peuple seront comme les jours des arbres, Et mes élus jouiront de l'oeuvre de leurs mains.

They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of the trees shall be the days of my people, and my elect shall perpetuate the work of their hands.

23 I ls ne travailleront pas en vain, Et ils n'auront pas des enfants pour les voir périr; Car ils formeront une race bénie de l'Éternel, Et leurs enfants seront avec eux.

They shall not labour in vain, nor give birth with fear; for their births are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring shall be with them.

24 A vant qu'ils m'invoquent, je répondrai; Avant qu'ils aient cessé de parler, j'exaucerai.

And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

25 L e loup et l'agneau paîtront ensemble, Le lion, comme le boeuf, mangera de la paille, Et le serpent aura la poussière pour nourriture. Il ne se fera ni tort ni dommage Sur toute ma montagne sainte, Dit l'Éternel.

The wolf and the lamb shall be fed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not afflict nor do evil in all my holy mountain, said the LORD.
