1 V enez, chantons avec allégresse à l'Éternel! Poussons des cris de joie vers le rocher de notre salut.

¶ O come, let us bring joy unto the LORD; let us sing with joy unto the rock of our saving health.

2 A llons au-devant de lui avec des louanges, Faisons retentir des cantiques en son honneur!

Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving and sing unto him with joy.

3 C ar l'Éternel est un grand Dieu, Il est un grand roi au-dessus de tous les dieux.

For the LORD is a great God and a great King above all gods.

4 I l tient dans sa main les profondeurs de la terre, Et les sommets des montagnes sont à lui.

In his hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.

5 L a mer est à lui, c'est lui qui l'a faite; La terre aussi, ses mains l'ont formée.

The sea is his, and he made it; and his hands formed the dry land.

6 V enez, prosternons-nous et humilions-nous, Fléchissons le genou devant l'Éternel, notre créateur!

O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

7 C ar il est notre Dieu, Et nous sommes le peuple de son pâturage, Le troupeau que sa main conduit... Oh! si vous pouviez écouter aujourd'hui sa voix!

¶ For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. Today if ye will hear his voice,

8 N 'endurcissez pas votre coeur, comme à Meriba, Comme à la journée de Massa, dans le désert,

harden not your heart, as in the provocation and as in the day of trials in the wilderness

9 O ù vos pères me tentèrent, M'éprouvèrent, quoiqu'ils vissent mes oeuvres.

When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.

10 P endant quarante ans j'eus cette race en dégoût, Et je dis: C'est un peuple dont le coeur est égaré; Ils ne connaissent pas mes voies.

Forty years long I was grieved with this generation and said, It is a people that err from the heart, who have not known my ways;

11 A ussi je jurai dans ma colère: Ils n'entreront pas dans mon repos!

unto whom I swore in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
