1 L a trentième année, le cinquième jour du quatrième mois, comme j'étais parmi les captifs du fleuve du Kebar, les cieux s'ouvrirent, et j'eus des visions divines.

¶ Now it came to pass at thirty years, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

2 L e cinquième jour du mois, c'était la cinquième année de la captivité du roi Jojakin, -

In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity,

3 l a parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Ézéchiel, fils de Buzi, le sacrificateur, dans le pays des Chaldéens, près du fleuve du Kebar; et c'est là que la main de l'Éternel fut sur lui.

the word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and there the hand of the LORD came upon him.

4 J e regardai, et voici, il vint du septentrion un vent impétueux, une grosse nuée, et une gerbe de feu, qui répandait de tous côtés une lumière éclatante, au centre de laquelle brillait comme de l'airain poli, sortant du milieu du feu.

¶ And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, and a great cloud, and a fire enfolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

5 A u centre encore, apparaissaient quatre animaux, dont l'aspect avait une ressemblance humaine.

Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of man.

6 C hacun d'eux avait quatre faces, et chacun avait quatre ailes.

And each one had four faces, and four wings.

7 L eurs pieds étaient droits, et la plante de leurs pieds était comme celle du pied d'un veau, ils étincelaient comme de l'airain poli.

And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot; and they sparkled like the colour of highly burnished brass.

8 I ls avaient des mains d'homme sous les ailes à leurs quatre côtés; et tous les quatre avaient leurs faces et leurs ailes.

And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and their faces and their wings on all four sides.

9 L eurs ailes étaient jointes l'une à l'autre; ils ne se tournaient point en marchant, mais chacun marchait droit devant soi.

With their wings they joined one to another; they did not return when they went; they went each one straight in the direction they were facing.

10 Q uand à la figure de leurs faces, ils avaient tous une face d'homme, tous quatre une face de lion à droite, tous quatre une face de boeuf à gauche, et tous quatre une face d'aigle.

And the likeness of their faces was human faces; and lion faces, on the right side; and they four had ox faces on the left side; likewise they four had eagle faces.

11 L eurs faces et leurs ailes étaient séparées par le haut; deux de leurs ailes étaient jointes l'une à l'autre, et deux couvraient leurs corps.

Thus were their faces; and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of each one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

12 C hacun marchait droit devant soi; ils allaient où l'esprit les poussait à aller, et ils ne se tournaient point dans leur marche.

And they went each one straight forward in the direction they were facing: wherever the Spirit directed them to go, they went; and they did not return when they went.

13 L 'aspect de ces animaux ressemblait à des charbons de feu ardents, c'était comme l'aspect des flambeaux, et ce feu circulait entre les animaux; il jetait une lumière éclatante, et il en sortait des éclairs.

As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire and like the appearance of lit torches; the fire went up and down among the living creatures and the brightness of the fire; and out of the fire went forth lightning.

14 E t les animaux couraient et revenaient comme la foudre.

And the living creatures ran and turned as the appearance of lightnings.

15 J e regardais ces animaux; et voici, il y avait une roue sur la terre, près des animaux, devant leurs quatre faces.

¶ Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold a wheel upon the earth with its four rims by the living creatures.

16 A leur aspect et à leur structure, ces roues semblaient être en chrysolithe, et toutes les quatre avaient la même forme; leur aspect et leur structure étaient tels que chaque roue paraissait être au milieu d'une autre roue.

The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a stone of Tarsis or beryl; and they four had one likeness; and their appearance and their workmanship was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

17 E n cheminant, elles allaient de leurs quatre côtés, et elles ne se tournaient point dans leur marche.

When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they did not return when they went.

18 E lles avaient une circonférence et une hauteur effrayantes, et à leur circonférence les quatre roues étaient remplies d'yeux tout autour.

And their ribs were high and dreadful, and full of eyes round about them in all four.

19 Q uand les animaux marchaient, les roues cheminaient à côté d'eux; et quand les animaux s'élevaient de terre, les roues s'élevaient aussi.

And when the living creatures went, the wheels went with them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

20 I ls allaient où l'esprit les poussait à aller; et les roues s'élevaient avec eux, car l'esprit des animaux était dans les roues.

Wherever the spirit wished to go, they went; wherever the spirit directed them, the wheels also rose up after them: for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

21 Q uand ils marchaient, elles marchaient; quand ils s'arrêtaient, elles s'arrêtaient; quand ils s'élevaient de terre, les roues s'élevaient avec eux, car l'esprit des animaux était dans les roues.

When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up after them: for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

22 A u-dessus des têtes des animaux, il y avait comme un ciel de cristal resplendissant, qui s'étendait sur leurs têtes dans le haut.

And over the heads of each living creature there appeared a heaven like a marvellous crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.

23 S ous ce ciel, leurs ailes étaient droites l'une contre l'autre, et ils en avaient chacun deux qui les couvraient, chacun deux qui couvraient leurs corps.

And under the heaven their wings were straight, one toward the other: each one had two, and another two which covered their bodies.

24 J 'entendis le bruit de leurs ailes, quand ils marchaient, pareil au bruit de grosses eaux, ou à la voix du Tout Puissant; c'était un bruit tumultueux, comme celui d'une armée; quand ils s'arrêtaient, ils laissaient tomber leurs ailes.

And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of many waters, as the voice of the Almighty, when they went; the voice of the word, as the voice of an army. When they stood, they let down their wings.

25 E t il se faisait un bruit qui partait du ciel étendu sur leurs têtes, lorsqu'ils s'arrêtaient et laissaient tomber leurs ailes.

And there was heard a voice from the heaven that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.

26 A u-dessus du ciel qui était sur leurs têtes, il y avait quelque chose de semblable à une pierre de saphir, en forme de trône; et sur cette forme de trône apparaissait comme une figure d'homme placé dessus en haut.

¶ And above the heaven that was over their heads was the figure of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the figure of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man seated upon it.

27 J e vis encore comme de l'airain poli, comme du feu, au dedans duquel était cet homme, et qui rayonnait tout autour; depuis la forme de ses reins jusqu'en haut, et depuis la forme de ses reins jusqu'en bas, je vis comme du feu, et comme une lumière éclatante, dont il était environné.

And I saw something that looked like the colour of amber, that appeared to have fire round about within it, which could be seen from his loins upward; and from his loins downward, I saw what looked like fire, and it had brightness round about

28 T el l'aspect de l'arc qui est dans la nue en un jour de pluie, ainsi était l'aspect de cette lumière éclatante, qui l'entourait: c'était une image de la gloire de l'Éternel. A cette vue, je tombai sur ma face, et j'entendis la voix de quelqu'un qui parlait.

that looked like the bow of heaven that is in the clouds in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the vision of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And I saw it and fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke.
