1 J e dis: Écoutez, chefs de Jacob, Et princes de la maison d'Israël! N'est-ce pas à vous à connaître la justice?

¶ And I said, Hear, I pray you, O princes of Jacob, and ye heads of the house of Israel. Did it not pertain to you to know that which is right?

2 V ous haïssez le bien et vous aimez le mal; Vous leur arrachez la peau et la chair de dessus les os.

Who hate the good, and love the evil, who steal their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones;

3 I ls dévorent la chair de mon peuple, Lui arrachent la peau, Et lui brisent les os; Ils le mettent en pièces comme ce qu'on cuit dans un pot, Comme de la viande dans une chaudière.

and eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones and chop them in pieces as for the pot and as flesh within the caldron.

4 A lors ils crieront vers l'Éternel, Mais il ne leur répondra pas; Il leur cachera sa face en ce temps-là, Parce qu'ils ont fait de mauvaises actions.

Then they shall cry unto the LORD, but he will not respond to them: he will even hide his face from them at that time because of their evil doings.

5 A insi parle l'Éternel sur les prophètes qui égarent mon peuple, Qui annoncent la paix si leurs dents ont quelque chose à mordre, Et qui publient la guerre si on ne leur met rien dans la bouche:

Thus hath the LORD said concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that does not give them something to eat, they even prepare war against him.

6 A cause de cela, vous aurez la nuit..., et plus de visions! Vous aurez les ténèbres..., et plus d'oracles! Le soleil se couchera sur ces prophètes, Le jour s'obscurcira sur eux.

Therefore the vision shall be made night unto you, and darkness unto those that divine, and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.

7 L es voyants seront confus, les devins rougiront, Tous se couvriront la barbe; Car Dieu ne répondra pas.

Then the prophets shall be ashamed, and the diviners confounded; and they shall all cover their lips because they shall have no answer from God.

8 M ais moi, je suis rempli de force, de l'esprit de l'Éternel, Je suis rempli de justice et de vigueur, Pour faire connaître à Jacob son crime, Et à Israël son péché.

¶ But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his rebellion, and to Israel his sin.

9 É coutez donc ceci, chefs de la maison de Jacob, Et princes de la maison d'Israël, Vous qui avez en horreur la justice, Et qui pervertissez tout ce qui est droit,

Now hear this, ye heads of the house of Jacob and captains of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment and pervert all equity;

10 V ous qui bâtissez Sion avec le sang, Et Jérusalem avec l'iniquité!

that build up Zion with blood and Jerusalem with iniquity;

11 S es chefs jugent pour des présents, Ses sacrificateurs enseignent pour un salaire, Et ses prophètes prédisent pour de l'argent; Et ils osent s'appuyer sur l'Éternel, ils disent: L'Éternel n'est-il pas au milieu de nous? Le malheur ne nous atteindra pas.

the heads thereof judge for bribes, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet they come near unto the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? No evil can come upon us.

12 C 'est pourquoi, à cause de vous, Sion sera labourée comme un champ, Jérusalem deviendra un monceau de pierres, Et la montagne du temple une sommité couverte de bois.

Therefore for your sake Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.
