1 O Éternel! tu es mon Dieu; Je t'exalterai, je célébrerai ton nom, Car tu as fait des choses merveilleuses; Tes desseins conçus à l'avance se sont fidèlement accomplis.

¶ O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee; I will praise thy name for thou hast done wonders, the counsels of old, the truth unchanging.

2 C ar tu as réduit la ville en un monceau de pierres, La cité forte en un tas de ruines; La forteresse des barbares est détruite, Jamais elle ne sera rebâtie.

That thou hast turned the city into a heap; the defenced city into a ruin: the palace of strangers to not be a city; it shall never be rebuilt.

3 C 'est pourquoi les peuples puissants te glorifient, Les villes des nations puissantes te craignent.

Therefore the strong people shall glorify thee; the city of the strong Gentiles shall fear thee.

4 T u as été un refuge pour le faible, Un refuge pour le malheureux dans la détresse, Un abri contre la tempête, Un ombrage contre la chaleur; Car le souffle des tyrans Est comme l'ouragan qui frappe une muraille.

For thou hast been strength to the poor, strength to the needy in his distress, refuge from the storm, shadow from the heat, for the force of the violent is as a storm against the wall.

5 C omme tu domptes la chaleur dans une terre brûlante, Tu as dompté le tumulte des barbares; Comme la chaleur est étouffée par l'ombre d'un nuage, Ainsi ont été étouffés les chants de triomphe des tyrans.

As the heat in a dry place, thou shalt bring down the pride of the strangers; even as with heat that burns beneath a cloud, thou shalt cause the offshoot of the stout ones to wither.

6 L 'Éternel des armées prépare à tous les peuples, sur cette montagne, Un festin de mets succulents, Un festin de vins vieux, De mets succulents, pleins de moelle, De vins vieux, clarifiés.

¶ And in this mountain the LORD of the hosts shall make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of purified wines, of fat things full of marrow, of purified liquids.

7 E t, sur cette montagne, il anéantit le voile qui voile tous les peuples, La couverture qui couvre toutes les nations;

And he will undo in this mountain the mask of the covering with which all the peoples are covered and the veil that is extended over all the Gentiles.

8 I l anéantit la mort pour toujours; Le Seigneur, l'Éternel, essuie les larmes de tous les visages, Il fait disparaître de toute la terre l'opprobre de son peuple; Car l'Éternel a parlé.

He will destroy death forever; and the Lord GOD shall wipe away every tear from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people he shall take away from off all the earth: for the LORD has determined it.

9 E n ce jour l'on dira: Voici, c'est notre Dieu, en qui nous avons confiance, Et c'est lui qui nous sauve; C'est l'Éternel, en qui nous avons confiance; Soyons dans l'allégresse, et réjouissons-nous de son salut!

¶ And it shall be said in that day, Behold, this is our God, whom we have waited for, and he has saved us: this is the LORD, whom we have waited for, we will be glad and rejoice in his saving health.

10 C ar la main de l'Éternel repose sur cette montagne; Et Moab est foulé sur place, Comme la paille est foulée dans une mare à fumier.

For in this mountain the hand of the LORD shall rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.

11 A u milieu de cette mare, il étend ses mains, Comme le nageur les étend pour nager; Mais l'Éternel abat son orgueil, Et déjoue l'artifice de ses mains.

And he shall extend his hand in the midst of him as he that swims spreads forth his hand to swim: and he shall bring down his pride with the members of his hands

12 I l renverse, il précipite les fortifications élevées de tes murs, Il les fait crouler à terre, jusque dans la poussière.

and lay siege to the fortress of thy high walls; he shall humble it and bring it down to the ground, even to the dust.
