1 H ERR, du bist mein Gott! dich preise ich; ich lobe deinen Namen, denn du tust Wunder; deine Ratschlüsse von alters her sind treu und wahrhaftig.

¶ O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee; I will praise thy name for thou hast done wonders, the counsels of old, the truth unchanging.

2 D enn du machst die Stadt zum Steinhaufen, die feste Stadt, daß sie auf einem Haufen liegt, der Fremden Palast, daß sie nicht mehr eine Stadt sei und nimmermehr gebaut werde.

That thou hast turned the city into a heap; the defenced city into a ruin: the palace of strangers to not be a city; it shall never be rebuilt.

3 D arum ehrt dich ein mächtiges Volk: die Städte gewaltiger Heiden fürchten dich.

Therefore the strong people shall glorify thee; the city of the strong Gentiles shall fear thee.

4 D enn du bist der Geringen Stärke, der Armen Stärke in der Trübsal, eine Zuflucht vor dem Ungewitter, ein Schatten vor der Hitze, wenn die Tyrannen wüten wie ein Ungewitter wider eine Wand.

For thou hast been strength to the poor, strength to the needy in his distress, refuge from the storm, shadow from the heat, for the force of the violent is as a storm against the wall.

5 D u demütigst der Fremden Ungestüm wie die Hitze in einem dürren Ort; wie die Hitze durch der Wolken Schatten, so wird gedämpft der Tyrannen Siegesgesang.

As the heat in a dry place, thou shalt bring down the pride of the strangers; even as with heat that burns beneath a cloud, thou shalt cause the offshoot of the stout ones to wither.

6 U nd der HERR Zebaoth wird allen Völkern machen auf diesem Berge ein fettes Mahl, ein Mahl von reinem Wein, von Fett, von Mark, von Wein, darin keine Hefe ist.

¶ And in this mountain the LORD of the hosts shall make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of purified wines, of fat things full of marrow, of purified liquids.

7 U nd er wird auf diesem Berge die Hülle wegtun, damit alle Völker verhüllt sind, und die Decke, mit der alle Heiden zugedeckt sind.

And he will undo in this mountain the mask of the covering with which all the peoples are covered and the veil that is extended over all the Gentiles.

8 E r wird den Tod verschlingen ewiglich; und der HERR HERR wird die Tränen von allen Angesichtern abwischen und wird aufheben alle Schmach seines Volks in allen Landen; denn der HERR hat's gesagt.

He will destroy death forever; and the Lord GOD shall wipe away every tear from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people he shall take away from off all the earth: for the LORD has determined it.

9 Z u der Zeit wird man sagen: Siehe, das ist unser Gott, auf den wir harren, und er wird uns helfen; das ist der HERR auf den wir harren, daß wir uns freuen und fröhlich seien in seinem Heil.

¶ And it shall be said in that day, Behold, this is our God, whom we have waited for, and he has saved us: this is the LORD, whom we have waited for, we will be glad and rejoice in his saving health.

10 D enn die Hand des HERRN ruht auf diesem Berge. Moab aber wird unter ihm zertreten werden, wie Stroh zertreten wird und wie Kot.

For in this mountain the hand of the LORD shall rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.

11 U nd er wird seine Hände ausbreiten mitten unter sie, wie sie ein Schwimmer ausbreitet, zu schwimmen; und wird ihre Pracht erniedrigen mit den Armen seiner Hände

And he shall extend his hand in the midst of him as he that swims spreads forth his hand to swim: and he shall bring down his pride with the members of his hands

12 u nd die hohen Festen eurer Mauern beugen, erniedrigen und in den Staub zu Boden werfen.

and lay siege to the fortress of thy high walls; he shall humble it and bring it down to the ground, even to the dust.
