1 ( Eine Unterweisung Davids.) Wohl dem, dem die Übertretungen vergeben sind, dem die Sünde bedeckt ist!

¶ Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

2 W ohl dem Menschen, dem der HERR die Missetat nicht zurechnet, in des Geist kein Falsch ist!

Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD does not impute iniquity and in whose spirit there is no guile.

3 D enn da ich's wollte verschweigen, verschmachteten meine Gebeine durch mein täglich Heulen.

When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.

4 D enn deine Hand war Tag und Nacht schwer auf mir, daß mein Saft vertrocknete, wie es im Sommer dürre wird. (Sela.)

For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my green growth is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

5 D arum bekannte ich dir meine Sünde und verhehlte meine Missetat nicht. Ich sprach: Ich will dem HERRN meine Übertretungen bekennen. Da vergabst du mir die Missetat meiner Sünde. (Sela.)

I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and I have not hid my iniquity. I said, I will confess (against myself) my rebellions unto the LORD, and thou shalt forgive the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

6 U m deswillen werden die Heiligen zu dir beten zur rechten Zeit; darum, wenn große Wasserfluten kommen, werden sie nicht an dieselben gelangen.

For this shall every one that is merciful pray unto thee in the time when thou may be found; surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come near unto him.

7 D u bist mein Schirm; du wirst mich vor Angst behüten, daß ich errettet gar fröhlich rühmen kann. (Sela.)

¶ Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

8 " Ich will dich unterweisen und dir den Weg zeigen, den du wandeln sollst; ich will dich mit meinen Augen leiten."

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will fix mine eyes upon thee.

9 S eid nicht wie Rosse und Maultiere, die nicht verständig sind, welchen man Zaum und Gebiß muß ins Maul legen, wenn sie nicht zu dir wollen.

Be ye not as the horse or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in subjection with bit and bridle, or they will not come near unto thee.

10 D er Gottlose hat viel Plage; wer aber auf den HERRN hofft, den wird die Güte umfangen.

There are many sorrows for the wicked; but he that waits in the LORD, mercy shall compass him round about.

11 F reuet euch des HERRN und seid fröhlich, ihr Gerechten, und rühmet, alle ihr Frommen.

Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, ye righteous, and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
