1 D ies ist der Anfang des Evangeliums von Jesus Christus, dem Sohn Gottes,

¶ The beginning of the gospel of Jesus, the Christ, Son of God,

2 w ie geschrieben steht in den Propheten: "Siehe, ich sende meinen Engel vor dir her, der da bereite deinen Weg vor dir."

as it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.

3 " Es ist eine Stimme eines Predigers in der Wüste: Bereitet den Weg des HERRN, macht seine Steige richtig!"

The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord; make his paths straight.

4 J ohannes, der war in der Wüste, taufte und predigte von der Taufe der Buße zur Vergebung der Sünden.

John baptized in the wilderness and preached the baptism of repentance for remission of sins.

5 U nd es ging zu ihm hinaus das ganze jüdische Land und die von Jerusalem und ließen sich alle von ihm taufen im Jordan und bekannten ihre Sünden.

And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea and those of Jerusalem and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.

6 J ohannes aber war bekleidet mit Kamelhaaren und mit einem ledernen Gürtel um seine Lenden, und aß Heuschrecken und wilden Honig;

John was clothed with camel’s hair and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he ate locusts and wild honey

7 u nd er predigte und sprach: Es kommt einer nach mir, der ist stärker denn ich, dem ich nicht genugsam bin, daß ich mich vor ihm bücke und die Riemen seiner Schuhe auflöse.

and preached, saying, There comes one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.

8 I ch taufe euch mit Wasser; aber er wird euch mit dem Heiligen Geist taufen.

I indeed have baptized you with water, but he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit.

9 U nd es begab sich zu der Zeit, daß Jesus aus Galiläa von Nazareth kam und ließ sich taufen von Johannes im Jordan.

¶ And it came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth a city of Galilee and was baptized of John in the Jordan.

10 U nd alsbald stieg er aus dem Wasser und sah, daß sich der Himmel auftat, und den Geist gleich wie eine Taube herabkommen auf ihn.

And as soon as he was come out of the water, John saw the heavens opened and the Spirit like a dove descending and resting upon him;

11 U nd da geschah eine Stimme vom Himmel: Du bist mein lieber Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen habe.

and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my dear Son, in whom I delight.

12 U nd alsbald trieb ihn der Geist in die Wüste,

And immediately the Spirit drove him into the wilderness.

13 u nd er war allda in der Wüste Tage und ward versucht von dem Satan und war bei den Tieren, und die Engel dienten ihm.

And he was there in the wilderness forty days and forty nights and was tempted of Satan and was with the wild beasts, and the angels ministered unto him.

14 N achdem aber Johannes überantwortet war, kam Jesus nach Galiläa und predigte das Evangelium vom Reich Gottes

¶ Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God

15 u nd sprach: Die Zeit ist erfüllet, und das Reich Gottes ist herbeigekommen. Tut Buße und glaubt an das Evangelium!

and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent ye and believe the gospel.

16 D a er aber am Galiläischen Meer ging, sah er Simon und Andreas, seinen Bruder, daß sie ihre Netze ins Meer warfen; denn sie waren Fischer.

Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers.

17 U nd Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Folget mir nach; ich will euch zu Menschenfischern machen!

And Jesus said unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

18 A lsobald verließen sie ihre Netze und folgten ihm nach.

And straightway they forsook their nets and followed him.

19 U nd da er von da ein wenig weiterging, sah er Jakobus, den Sohn des Zebedäus, und Johannes, seinen Bruder, daß sie die Netze im Schiff flickten; und alsbald rief er sie.

And when he had gone a little further from there, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.

20 U nd sie ließen ihren Vater Zebedäus im Schiff mit den Tagelöhnern und folgten ihm nach.

And straightway he called them; and leaving their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, they went after him.

21 U nd sie gingen gen Kapernaum; und alsbald am Sabbat ging er in die Schule und lehrte.

And they entered into Capernaum, and straightway on the sabbath days he entered into the synagogue and taught.

22 U nd sie entsetzten sich über seine Lehre; denn er lehrte gewaltig und nicht wie die Schriftgelehrten.

And they marvelled at his learning, for he taught them as one that had power with him, and not as the scribes.

23 U nd es war in ihrer Schule ein Mensch, besessen von einem unsauberen Geist, der schrie

¶ And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out,

24 u nd sprach: Halt, was haben wir mit dir zu schaffen, Jesus von Nazareth? Du bist gekommen, uns zu verderben. Ich weiß wer du bist: der Heilige Gottes.

saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

25 U nd Jesus bedrohte ihn und sprach: Verstumme und fahre aus von ihm!

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be silent, and come out of him.

26 U nd der unsaubere Geist riß ihn und schrie laut und fuhr aus von ihm.

And the unclean spirit tore him and cried with a loud voice and came out of him.

27 U nd sie entsetzten sich alle, also daß sie untereinander sich befragten und sprachen: Was ist das? Was ist das für eine neue Lehre? Er gebietet mit Gewalt den unsauberen Geistern, und sie gehorchen ihm.

And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? What new doctrine is this? for he commands the unclean spirits with power, and they obey him.

28 U nd sein Gerücht erscholl alsbald umher in das galiläische Land.

And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

29 U nd sie gingen alsbald aus der Schule und kamen in das Haus des Simon und Andreas mit Jakobus und Johannes.

¶ And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

30 U nd die Schwiegermutter Simons lag und hatte das Fieber; und alsbald sagten sie ihm von ihr.

But Simon’s mother-in-law lay sick of a fever, and soon they told him of her.

31 U nd er trat zu ihr und richtete sie auf und hielt sie bei der Hand; und das Fieber verließ sie, und sie diente ihnen.

And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up; and the fever left her by and by, and she ministered unto them.

32 A m Abend aber, da die Sonne untergegangen war, brachten sie zu ihm allerlei Kranke und Besessene.

In the evening, when the sun was down, they brought unto him all that were diseased and those that were possessed with devils.

33 U nd die ganze Stadt versammelte sich vor der Tür.

And all the city was gathered together at the door.

34 U nd er half vielen Kranken, die mit mancherlei Seuchen beladen waren, und trieb viele Teufel aus und ließ die Teufel nicht reden, denn sie kannten ihn.

And he healed many that were sick of diverse diseases and cast out many devils and suffered not the devils to speak because they knew him.

35 U nd des Morgens vor Tage stand er auf und ging hinaus. Und Jesus ging in eine wüste Stätte und betete daselbst.

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary place and prayed there.

36 U nd Petrus mit denen, die bei ihm waren, eilten ihm nach.

And Simon and those that were with him followed after him.

37 U nd da sie ihn fanden, sprachen sie zu ihm: Jedermann sucht dich.

And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.

38 U nd er sprach zu ihnen: Laßt uns in die nächsten Städte gehen, daß ich daselbst auch predige; denn dazu bin ich gekommen.

And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns that I may preach there also, for truly I came forth for that purpose.

39 U nd er predigte in ihren Schulen in ganz Galiläa und trieb die Teufel aus.

And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee and cast out devils.

40 U nd es kam zu ihm ein Aussätziger, der bat ihn, kniete vor ihm und sprach: Willst du, so kannst du mich wohl reinigen.

¶ And a leper came to him, beseeching him and kneeling down to him and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

41 U nd es jammerte Jesum, und er reckte die Hand aus, rührte ihn an und sprach: Ich will's tun; sei gereinigt!

And Jesus, having mercy on him, put forth his hand and touched him and said unto him, I will; be thou clean.

42 U nd als er so sprach, ging der Aussatz alsbald von ihm, und er ward rein.

And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was clean.

43 U nd Jesus bedrohte ihn und trieb ihn alsbald von sich

And he straitly charged him and forthwith sent him away

44 u nd sprach zu ihm: Siehe zu, daß du niemand davon sagest; sondern gehe hin und zeige dich dem Priester und opfere für deine Reinigung, was Mose geboten hat, zum Zeugnis über sie.

and said unto him, See thou say nothing to any man, but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

45 E r aber, da er hinauskam, hob er an und sagte viel davon und machte die Geschichte ruchbar, also daß er hinfort nicht mehr konnte öffentlich in die Stadt gehen; sondern er war draußen in den wüsten Örtern, und sie kamen zu ihm von allen Enden.

But he went out and began to publish it much and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places; and they came to him from every quarter.
