1 D u sollst Aaron, deinen Bruder, und seine Söhne zu dir nehmen aus den Kindern Israel, daß er mein Priester sei, nämlich Aaron und seine Söhne Nadab, Abihu, Eleasar und Ithamar.

¶ And cause Aaron, thy brother, to come unto thee with his sons, from among the sons of Israel, that they may be my priests, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons.

2 U nd sollst Aaron, deinen Bruder, heilige Kleider machen, die herrlich und schön seien.

And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron, thy brother, for honour and for beauty.

3 U nd du sollst reden mit allen, die eines weisen Herzens sind, die ich mit dem Geist der Weisheit erfüllt habe, daß sie Aaron Kleider machen zu seiner Weihe, daß er mein Priester sei.

And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise-hearted, whom I have filled with the Spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments to sanctify him, that he may be my priest.

4 D as sind aber die Kleider, die sie machen sollen: das Amtschild, den Leibrock, Purpurrock, engen Rock, Hut und Gürtel. Also sollen sie heilige Kleider machen deinem Bruder Aaron und seinen Söhnen, daß er mein Priester sei.

And these are the garments which they shall make: the pectoral, the ephod, the robe, the broidered coat, the mitre, and the girdle. Therefore let them make the holy garments for Aaron, thy brother, and his sons, that they may be my priests.

5 D azu sollen sie nehmen Gold, blauen und roten Purpur, Scharlach und weiße Leinwand.

And they shall take gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine linen,

6 D en Leibrock sollen sie machen von Gold, blauem und rotem Purpur, Scharlach und gezwirnter weißer Leinwand, kunstreich;

¶ and they shall make the ephod of gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work.

7 z wei Schulterstücke soll er haben, die zusammengehen an beiden Enden, und soll zusammengebunden werden.

It shall have its two shoulderpieces joined at the two edges thereof, and so it shall be joined together.

8 U nd sein Gurt darauf soll derselben Kunst und Arbeit sein, von Gold, blauem und rotem Purpur, Scharlach und gezwirnter weißer Leinwand.

And the special girdle of the ephod, which shall be over it, shall be of its same workmanship, of the same materials: of gold, blue, purple, scarlet and fine twined linen.

9 U nd sollst zwei Onyxsteine nehmen und darauf graben die Namen der Kinder Israel,

And thou shalt take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel:

10 A uf jeglichen sechs Namen, nach der Ordnung ihres Alters.

Six of their names on one stone and the other six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth.

11 D as sollst du tun durch die Steinschneider, die da Siegel graben, also daß sie mit Gold umher gefaßt werden.

With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a seal, shalt thou engrave those two stones with the names of the sons of Israel; thou shalt make them to be set in settings of gold.

12 U nd sollst sie auf die Schulterstücke des Leibrocks heften, daß es Steine seien zum Gedächtnis für die Kinder Israel, daß Aaron ihre Namen auf seinen beiden Schultern trage vor dem HERRN zum Gedächtnis.

And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod for stones of memorial unto the sons of Israel, and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial.

13 U nd sollst goldene Fassungen machen

And thou shalt make the settings of gold

14 u nd zwei Ketten von feinem Golde, mit zwei Enden, aber die Glieder ineinander hangend; und sollst sie an die Fassungen tun.

and two small chains of pure gold; of wreathen work shalt thou make them and fasten the wreathen chains to the settings.

15 D as Amtschild sollst du machen nach der Kunst, wie den Leibrock, von Gold, blauem und rotem Purpur, Scharlach und gezwirnter weißer Leinwand.

¶ And in the same manner thou shalt make the pectoral of judgment with cunning work; after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it, of gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and of fine twined linen.

16 V iereckig soll es sein und zwiefach; eine Spanne breit soll seine Länge sein und eine Spanne breit seine Breite.

It shall be square and double; a span shall be the length thereof, and a span shall be the breadth thereof.

17 U nd sollst's füllen die vier Reihen voll Steine. Die erste Reihe sei ein Sarder, Topas, Smaragd;

And thou shalt fill it with four rows of stones; The order shall be a ruby, an emerald, and a chrysolite; this shall be the first order.

18 d ie andere ein Rubin, Saphir, Demant;

And the second order shall be a carbuncle, a sapphire, and a diamond.

19 d ie dritte ein Lynkurer, Achat, Amethyst;

And the third order, a topaz, a turquoise, and an amethyst.

20 d ie vierte ein Türkis, Onyx, Jaspis. In Gold sollen sie gefaßt sein in allen Reihen

And the fourth row a tarshish (or beryl) and an onyx and a jasper; they shall be set in gold in their inclosings.

21 u nd sollen nach den zwölf Namen der Kinder Israel stehen, gegraben vom Steinschneider, daß auf einem jeglichen ein Namen stehe nach den zwölf Stämmen.

And those stones shall be in agreement with the names of the sons of Israel, twelve, in agreement with their names; each one in agreement with his name like the engravings of a seal; they shall be according to the twelve tribes.

22 U nd sollst Ketten zu dem Schild machen mit zwei Enden, aber die Glieder ineinander hangend, von feinem Golde,

And thou shalt also make upon the pectoral small chains of wreathen work of pure gold.

23 u nd zwei goldene Ringe an das Schild, also daß du die zwei Ringe heftest an zwei Ecken des Schildes,

And thou shalt make upon the pectoral two rings of gold and shalt put the two rings on the two ends of the pectoral.

24 u nd die zwei goldenen Ketten in die zwei Ringe an den beiden Ecken des Schildes tust.

And thou shalt put the two wreathen chains of gold in the two rings which are on the ends of the pectoral.

25 A ber die zwei Enden der zwei Ketten sollst du an die zwei Fassungen tun und sie heften auf die Schulterstücke am Leibrock vornehin.

And the other two ends of the two wreathen chains thou shalt fasten in the two settings and put them on the shoulderpieces of the ephod on the front of it.

26 U nd sollst zwei andere goldene Ringe machen und an die zwei Ecken des Schildes heften an seinem Rand, inwendig gegen den Leibrock.

Thou shalt also make two rings of gold, and thou shalt put them upon the two ends of the pectoral in the border thereof, which is in the side of the ephod inward.

27 U nd sollst abermals zwei goldene Ringe machen und sie unten an die zwei Schulterstücke vorn am Leibrock heften, wo der Leibrock zusammengeht, oben über dem Gurt des Leibrocks.

Likewise two other rings of gold thou shalt make and shalt put them on the two sides of the ephod underneath, toward the front part thereof, over against the other coupling thereof, above the special girdle of the ephod.

28 U nd man soll das Schild mit seinen Ringen mit einer blauen Schnur an die Ringe des Leibrocks knüpfen, daß es über dem Gurt des Leibrocks hart anliege und das Schild sich nicht vom Leibrock losmache.

And they shall bind the pectoral by its rings unto the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, that it may be above the special girdle of the ephod and that the pectoral not be loosed from the ephod.

29 A lso soll Aaron die Namen der Kinder Israel tragen in dem Amtschild auf seinem Herzen, wenn er in das Heilige geht, zum Gedächtnis vor dem HERRN allezeit.

And Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel in the pectoral of judgment upon his heart when he goes in unto the sanctuary for a memorial before the LORD continually.

30 U nd sollst in das Amtschild tun Licht und Recht, daß sie auf dem Herzen Aarons seien, wenn er eingeht vor den HERRN, daß er trage das Amt der Kinder Israel auf seinem Herzen vor dem HERRN allewege.

And thou shalt put in the pectoral of judgment Urim and Thummim, that they shall be upon Aaron’s heart when he goes in before the LORD; and Aaron shall always bear the judgment of the sons of Israel upon his heart before the LORD.

31 D u sollst auch einen Purpurrock unter dem Leibrock machen ganz von blauem Purpur.

¶ And thou shalt make the robe of the ephod all of blue.

32 U nd oben mitteninne soll ein Loch sein und eine Borte um das Loch her zusammengefaltet, daß er nicht zerreiße.

And it shall have the collar of his head in the midst thereof, which shall have a binding of woven work round about it, as the collar of a habergeon, that it not be rent.

33 U nd unten an seinen Saum sollst du Granatäpfel machen von blauem und rotem Purpur und Scharlach um und um und zwischen dieselben goldene Schellen auch um und um,

And beneath upon the hem of it, thou shalt make pomegranates of blue and of purple and of scarlet round about the hem thereof and bells of gold between them round about.

34 d aß eine goldene Schelle sei, darnach ein Granatapfel und wieder eine goldene Schelle und wieder ein Granatapfel, um und um an dem Saum des Purpurrocks.

A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate upon the hem of the robe round about.

35 U nd Aaron soll ihn anhaben, wenn er dient, daß man seinen Klang höre, wenn er aus und eingeht in das Heilige vor dem HERRN, auf daß er nicht sterbe.

And it shall be upon Aaron to minister, and his sound shall be heard when he goes in unto the sanctuary before the LORD and when he comes out, that he not die.

36 D u sollst auch ein Stirnblatt machen von feinem Golde und darauf ausgraben, wie man die Siegel ausgräbt: Heilig dem HERRN.

Thou shalt also make an open flower of pure gold and engrave upon it the engravings of a seal, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD.

37 U nd sollst's heften an eine blaue Schnur vorn an den Hut,

And thou shalt put it on with a blue lace that it may be upon the mitre; upon the forefront of the mitre it shall be.

38 a uf der Stirn Aarons, daß also Aaron trage die Missetat des Heiligen, das die Kinder Israel heiligen in allen Gaben ihrer Heiligung; und es soll allewege an seiner Stirn sein, daß er sie versöhne vor dem HERRN.

And it shall be upon Aaron’s forehead that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the sons of Israel shall sanctify in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead that they may find grace before the LORD.

39 D u sollst auch einen engen Rock machen von weißer Leinwand und einen Hut von weißer Leinwand machen und einen gestickten Gürtel.

And thou shalt embroider the coat of fine linen, and thou shalt make the mitre of fine linen, and thou shalt make the girdle of needlework.

40 U nd den Söhnen Aarons sollst du Röcke, Gürtel und Hauben machen, die herrlich und schön seien.

¶ And for Aaron’s sons thou shalt make coats; thou shalt also make girdles for them, and tiaras shalt thou make for them, for honour and for beauty.

41 U nd sollst sie deinem Bruder Aaron samt seinen Söhnen anziehen; und sollst sie salben und ihre Hände füllen und sie weihen, daß sie meine Priester seien.

And with these thou shalt clothe Aaron, thy brother, and his sons with him and shalt anoint them and fill their hands and sanctify them that they may be my priests.

42 U nd sollst ihnen leinene Beinkleider machen, zu bedecken die Blöße des Fleisches von den Lenden bis an die Hüften.

And thou shalt make them linen underwear to cover their nakedness; they shall reach from the loins even unto the thighs;

43 U nd Aaron und seine Söhne sollen sie anhaben, wenn sie in die Hütte des Stifts gehen oder hinzutreten zum Altar, daß sie dienen in dem Heiligtum, daß sie nicht ihre Missetat tragen und sterben müssen. Das soll ihm und seinem Stamm nach ihm eine ewige Weise sein.

And they shall be upon Aaron and upon his sons when they enter into the tabernacle of the testimony or when they come near unto the altar to serve in the sanctuary that they not bear iniquity and die: This shall be a perpetual statute unto him and his seed after him.
