1 ( Ein gülden Kleinod Davids, daß er nicht umkäme, da Saul hinsandte und ließ sein Haus verwahren, daß er ihn tötete.) Errette mich, mein Gott, von meinen Feinden und schütze mich vor denen, die sich wider mich setzen.

¶ Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; defend me from those that rise up against me.

2 E rrette mich von den Übeltätern und hilf mir von den Blutgierigen.

Deliver me from the workers of iniquity and save me from bloodthirsty men.

3 D enn siehe, HERR, sie lauern auf meine Seele; die Starken sammeln sich wider mich ohne meine Schuld und Missetat.

For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul; the strong are gathered against me; I am not in rebellion, nor in sin, O LORD.

4 S ie laufen ohne meine Schuld und bereiten sich. Erwache und begegne mir und siehe drein.

They run and prepare themselves when I have committed no iniquity; awake to help me and behold.

5 D u, HERR, Gott Zebaoth, Gott Israels, wache auf und suche heim alle Heiden; sei der keinem gnädig, die so verwegene Übeltäter sind. (Sela.)

Thou, therefore, O LORD God of the hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the Gentiles; be not merciful to any rebellious workers of iniquity. Selah.

6 D es Abends heulen sie wiederum wie die Hunde und laufen in der Stadt umher.

They will return at evening; they will bark like dogs and go round about outside the city.

7 S iehe, sie plaudern miteinander; Schwerter sind in ihren Lippen: "Wer sollte es hören?"

Behold, they belch out with their mouth; swords are in their lips; for who, say they, doth hear?

8 A ber du, HERR, wirst ihrer lachen und aller Heiden spotten.

¶ But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the Gentiles in derision.

9 V or ihrer Macht halte ich mich zu dir; denn Gott ist mein Schutz.

I will reserve his strength unto thee, for God is my defence.

10 G ott erzeigt mir reichlich seine Güte; Gott läßt mich meine Lust sehen an meinen Feinden.

The God of my mercy shall meet me on the way; God shall let me see my desire upon my enemies.

11 E rwürge sie nicht, daß es mein Volk nicht vergesse; zerstreue sie aber mit deiner Macht, HERR, unser Schild, und stoße sie hinunter!

Slay them not lest my people forget; scatter them by thy power and bring them down, O Lord our shield.

12 D as Wort ihrer Lippen ist eitel Sünde, darum müssen sie gefangen werden in ihrer Hoffart; denn sie reden eitel Fluchen und Lügen.

For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips, let them even be taken in their pride; they shall be subject to weakness and to a curse.

13 V ertilge sie ohne alle Gnade; vertilge sie, daß sie nichts seien und innewerden, daß Gott Herrscher sei in Jakob, in aller Welt. (Sela.)

Consume them in wrath, consume them that they may not be and let them know that God rules in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.

14 D es Abends heulen sie wiederum wie die Hunde und laufen in der Stadt umher.

And at evening let them return and let them bark like dogs and go round about outside the city.

15 S ie laufen hin und her um Speise und murren, wenn sie nicht satt werden.

Let them wander up and down for food and murmur if they are not satisfied.

16 I ch aber will von deiner Macht singen und des Morgens rühmen deine Güte; denn du bist mir Schutz und Zuflucht in meiner Not.

But I will sing of thy power; I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning, for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

17 I ch will dir, mein Hort, lobsingen; denn du, Gott, bist mein Schutz und mein gnädiger Gott.

Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing, for God is my defence and the God of my mercy.
