1 D erhalben, ihr heiligen Brüder, die ihr mit berufen seid durch die himmlische Berufung, nehmet wahr des Apostels und Hohenpriesters, den wir bekennen, Christus Jesus,

¶ Therefore, brethren, saints, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus,

2 d er da treu ist dem, der ihn gemacht hat, wie auch Mose in seinem ganzen Hause.

who was faithful to him that appointed him over all his house, as also Moses was faithful.

3 D ieser aber ist größerer Ehre wert denn Mose, soviel größere Ehre denn das Haus der hat, der es bereitete.

For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who has built the house has more honour than the house.

4 D enn ein jeglich Haus wird von jemand bereitet; der aber alles bereitet hat, das ist Gott.

For every house is built by someone, but he that created all things is God.

5 U nd Mose war zwar treu in seinem ganzen Hause als ein Knecht, zum Zeugnis des, das gesagt sollte werden,

And Moses verily was faithful over all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after,

6 C hristus aber als ein Sohn über sein Haus; des Haus sind wir, so wir anders das Vertrauen und den Ruhm der Hoffnung bis ans Ende fest behalten.

but Christ as a son over his own house, which house we are, if we hold fast the confidence and the glorious hope firmly until the end.

7 D arum, wie der heilige Geist spricht: "Heute, so ihr hören werdet seine Stimme,

¶ Therefore, as the Holy Spirit saith, Today if ye will hear his voice,

8 s o verstocket eure Herzen nicht, wie geschah in der Verbitterung am Tage der Versuchung in der Wüste,

harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

9 d a mich eure Väter versuchten; sie prüften mich und sahen meine Werke vierzig Jahre lang.

Where your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

10 D arum ward ich entrüstet über dies Geschlecht und sprach: Immerdar irren sie mit dem Herzen! Aber sie erkannten meine Wege nicht,

Therefore, I was indignant with that generation and said, They do always err from their heart, and they have not known my ways.

11 d aß ich auch schwur in meinem Zorn, sie sollten zu meiner Ruhe nicht kommen."

So I swore in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.

12 S ehet zu, liebe Brüder, daß nicht jemand unter euch ein arges, ungläubiges Herz habe, das da abtrete von dem lebendigen Gott;

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unfaithfulness, to depart from the living God.

13 s ondern ermahnet euch selbst alle Tage, solange es "heute" heißt, daß nicht jemand unter euch verstockt werde durch Betrug der Sünde.

But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

14 D enn wir sind Christi teilhaftig geworden, so wir anders das angefangene Wesen bis ans Ende fest behalten.

For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end;

15 I ndem gesagt wird: "Heute, so ihr seine Stimme hören werdet, so verstocket eure Herzen nicht, wie in der Verbitterung geschah":

while it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

16 w elche denn hörten sie und richteten eine Verbitterung an? Waren's nicht alle, die von Ägypten ausgingen durch Mose?

For some of those that came out of Egypt with Moses, when they had heard, did provoke; howbeit not all.

17 Ü ber welche aber ward er entrüstet vierzig Jahre lang? Ist's nicht über die, so da sündigten, deren Leiber in der Wüste verfielen?

But with whom was he indignant forty years? Was it not with those that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?

18 W elchen schwur er aber, daß sie nicht zur Ruhe kommen sollten, wenn nicht den Ungläubigen?

And to whom he swore that they should not enter into his rest, but to those that disobeyed?

19 U nd wir sehen, daß sie nicht haben können hineinkommen um des Unglaubens willen.

So we see that they could not enter in because of their unbelief.
