¶ These are now the heads of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of those that went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes, the king:

2 V on den Kindern Pinhas: Gersom; von den Kinder Ithamar: Daniel; von den Kindern David: Hattus,

Of the sons of Phinehas; Gershon: of the sons of Ithamar; Daniel: of the sons of David; Hattush.

3 v on den Kindern Sechanja; von den Kindern Pareos: Sacharja und mit ihm Mannsbilder, gerechnet hundertfünfzig;

Of the sons of Shechaniah, of the sons of Pharosh; Zechariah: and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males one hundred and fifty.

4 v on den Kindern Pahath-Moab: Eljoenai, der Sohn Serahjas, und mit ihm zweihundert Mannsbilder;

Of the sons of Pahathmoab; Elihoenai, the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males.

5 v on den Kindern Satthu: Sechanja, der Sohn Jahasiels, und mit ihm dreihundert Mannsbilder;

Of the sons of Shechaniah; the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males.

6 v on den Kindern Adin: Ebed, der Sohn Jonathan, und mit ihm fünfzig Mannsbilder;

Of the sons also of Adin; Ebed, the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males.

7 v on den Kindern Elam: Jesaja, der Sohn Athaljas, und mit ihm siebzig Mannsbilder;

And of the sons of Elam; Jeshaiah, the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males.

8 v on den Kindern Sephatja: Sebadja, der Sohn Michaels und mit ihm achtzig Mannsbilder;

And of the sons of Shephatiah; Zebadiah, the son of Michael, and with him eighty males.

9 v on den Kindern Joab: Obadja, der Sohn Jehiels, und mit ihm zweihundertachtzehn Mannsbilder;

Of the sons of Joab; Obadiah, the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males.

10 v on den Kindern Bani: Selomith, der Sohn Josiphjas, und mit ihm hundertsechzig Mannsbilder;

And of the sons of Shelomith; the son of Josiphiah, and with him one hundred and sixty males.

11 v on den Kindern Bebai: Sacharja, der Sohn Bebais, und mit ihm achtundzwanzig Mannsbilder;

And of the sons of Bebai; Zechariah, the son of Bebai, and with him twenty-eight males.

12 v on den Kindern Asgad: Johanan, der Sohn Hakkatans, und mit ihm hundertundzehn Mannsbilder;

And of the sons of Azgad; Johanan, the son of Hakkatan, and with him one hundred and ten males.

13 v on den Kindern Adonikams die letzten, und hießen also: Eliphelet, Jeiel und Semaja, und mit ihnen sechzig Mannsbilder;

And of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these: Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them sixty males.

14 v on den Kindern Bigevai: Uthai und Sabbud und mit ihnen siebzig Mannsbilder.

Of the sons also of Bigvai; Uthai and Zabbud and with them seventy males.

15 U nd ich versammelte sie ans Wasser, das gen Ahava kommt; und wir bleiben drei Tage daselbst. Und da ich achthatte aufs Volk und die Priester, fand ich keine Leviten daselbst.

And I gathered them together to the river that runs to Ahava, and there we encamped three days, and having searched among the people and the priests, I did not find there any of the sons of Levi.

16 D a sandte ich hin Elieser, Ariel, Semaja, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Sacharja und Mesullam, die Obersten, und Jojarib und Elnathan, die Lehrer,

Then I commissioned Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah, and Meshullam, principals, also Joiarib and Elnathan, men of understanding;

17 u nd sandte sie aus zu Iddo, dem Obersten, gen Kasphia, daß sie uns holten Diener für das Haus unsers Gottes. Und ich gab ihnen ein, was sie reden sollten mit Iddo und seinen Brüdern, den Tempelknechten, zu Kasphia.

and I sent them unto Iddo, the captain at the place of Casiphia, and I put words in their mouth that they should speak unto Iddo and to his brethren, the Nethinims, at the place of Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.

18 U nd sie brachten uns, nach der guten Hand unsres Gottes über uns, einen klugen Mann aus den Kindern Maheli, des Sohnes Levis, des Sohnes Israels, und Serebja mit seinen Söhnen und Brüdern, achtzehn,

And by the good hand of our God upon us, they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;

19 u nd Hasabja und mit ihm Jesaja von den Kindern Merari mit seinen Brüdern und ihren Söhnen, zwanzig,

and Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty;

20 u nd von den Tempelknechten, die David und die Fürsten gaben, zu dienen den Leviten, zweihundertundzwanzig, alle mit Namen genannt.

also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the ministry of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.

21 U nd ich ließ daselbst am Wasser bei Ahava ein Fasten ausrufen, daß wir uns demütigten vor unserm Gott, zu suchen von ihm einen richtigen Weg für uns und unsre Kinder und alle unsre Habe.

¶ Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us and for our little ones and for all our substance.

22 D enn ich schämte mich vom König Geleit und Reiter zu fordern, uns wider die Feinde zu helfen auf dem Wege. Denn wir hatten dem König gesagt: Die Hand unsres Gottes ist zum Besten über alle, die ihn suchen, und seine Stärke und Zorn über alle, die ihn verlassen.

For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to defend us against the enemy in the way because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all those that seek him for good; but his power and his wrath is against all those that forsake him.

23 A lso fasteten wir und suchten solches von unserm Gott, und er hörte uns.

So we fasted and besought our God for this, and he was intreated of us.

24 U nd ich sonderte zwölf aus von den obersten Priestern, dazu Serebja und Hasabja und mit ihnen ihrer Brüder zehn,

¶ Then I separated twelve of the principals of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,

25 u nd wog ihnen dar das Silber und Gold und die Gefäße zur Hebe für das Haus unsres Gottes, welche der König und seine Ratsherren und Fürsten und ganz Israel, das vorhanden war, zur Hebe gegeben hatten.

and weighed unto them the silver and the gold and the vessels, the offering for the house of our God, which the king and his counsellors and his princes and all those that were of Israel had offered.

26 U nd wog ihnen dar unter ihre Hand sechshundertundfünfzig Zentner Silber und an silbernen Gefäßen hundert zentner und an Gold hundert Zentner,

I weighed, therefore, unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver and silver vessels of one hundred talents and of gold one hundred talents;

27 z wanzig goldene Becher, tausend Goldgulden wert, und zwei eherne, köstliche Gefäße, lauter wie Gold.

also twenty basins of gold, of a thousand drams, and two vessels of clean brass, precious as gold.

28 U nd sprach zu ihnen: Ihr seid heilig dem HERRN, so sind die Gefäße auch heilig; dazu das frei gegebene Silber und Gold dem HERRN, eurer Väter Gott.

And I said unto them, Ye are holiness unto the LORD; the vessels are holiness also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers.

29 S o wacht und bewahrt es, bis daß ihr's darwägt vor den Obersten Priestern und Leviten und den Obersten der Vaterhäuser in Israel zu Jerusalem in die Kammer des Hauses des HERRN.

Watch and keep them until you weigh them before the princes of the priests and the Levites and of the princes of the fathers of Israel in Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.

30 D a nahmen die Priester und Leviten das gewogene Silber und Gold und die Gefäße, daß sie es brächten gen Jerusalem zum Hause unsres Gottes.

The priests and the Levites received the weight of the silver and of the gold and of the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.

31 A lso brachen wir auf von dem Wasser Ahava am zwölften Tage des ersten Monats, daß wir gen Jerusalem zögen. Und die Hand unsres Gottes war über uns und errettete uns von der Hand der Feinde und derer, die uns nachstellten auf dem Wege.

¶ And we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth of the first month to go to Jerusalem; and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and of such as lay in wait by the way.

32 U nd wir kamen gen Jerusalem und blieben daselbst drei Tage.

And we came to Jerusalem and abode there three days.

33 A ber am vierten Tage wurden dargewogen das Silber und Gold und die Gefäße ins Haus unsres Gottes unter die Hand des Priesters Meremoth, des Sohnes Urias, und mit ihm Eleasar, dem Sohn Pinehas, und mit ihnen Josabad, dem Sohn Jesuas, und Noadja, dem Sohn Binnuis, den Leviten,

Now on the fourth day the silver and the gold and the vessels were weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth, the son of Uriah, the priest; and with him was Eleazar, the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad, the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah, the son of Binnui, Levites;

34 n ach Zahl und Gewicht eines jeglichen; und das Gewicht ward zu der Zeit alles aufgeschrieben.

by number and by weight of each one; and all the weight was written at that time.

35 U nd die Kinder der Gefangenschaft, die aus der Gefangenschaft gekommen waren, opferten Brandopfer dem Gott Israels: zwölf Farren für das ganze Israel, sechsundneunzig Widder, siebenundsiebzig Lämmer, zwölf Böcke zum Sündopfer, alles zum Brandopfer dem HERRN.

Those that had been carried away, the sons of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, twelve he goats as sin; all this was a burnt offering unto the LORD.

36 U nd sie überantworteten des Königs Befehle den Amtleuten des Königs und den Landpflegern diesseit des Wassers. Und diese halfen dem Volk und dem Hause Gottes.

And they delivered the king’s commissions unto the king’s lieutenants and captains of the other side the river, which favoured the people and the house of God.
