1 J osaphat aber, der König Juda's, kam wieder heim mit Frieden gen Jerusalem.

¶ And Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.

2 U nd es gingen ihm entgegen hinaus Jehu, der Sohn Hananis, der Seher, und sprach zum König Josaphat: Sollst du so dem Gottlosen helfen, und lieben, die den HERRN hassen? Und um deswillen ist über dir der Zorn vom HERRN.

And Jehu, the son of Hanani, the seer, went out to meet him and said to king Jehoshaphat, Should thou help the ungodly and love those that hate the LORD? Therefore, the wrath of the presence of the LORD shall be upon thee.

3 A ber doch ist etwas Gutes an dir gefunden, daß du die Ascherabilder hast ausgefegt aus dem Lande und hast dein Herz gerichtet, Gott zu suchen.

Nevertheless, good things have been found in thee, in that thou hast burned down the groves of the land and hast prepared thy heart to seek God.

4 A lso blieb Josaphat zu Jerusalem. Und er zog wiederum aus unter das Volk von Beer-Seba an bis auf das Gebirge Ephraim und brachte sie wieder zu dem HERRN, ihrer Väter Gott.

And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem, and he went out again through the people from Beersheba to Mount Ephraim and brought them back unto the LORD God of their fathers.

5 U nd er bestellte Richter im Lande in allen festen Städten Juda's, in einer jeglichen Stadt etliche,

¶ And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city,

6 U nd sprach zu den Richtern: Sehet zu, was ihr tut! denn ihr haltet das Gericht nicht den Menschen, sondern dem HERRN; und er ist mit euch im Gericht.

and said to the judges, Take heed what ye do, for ye do not judge for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the word of judgment.

7 D arum laßt die Furcht des HERRN bei euch sein und hütet euch und tut's; denn bei dem HERRN, unserm Gott, ist kein Unrecht noch Ansehen der Person noch Annehmen des Geschenks.

Therefore, now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it, for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes.

8 A uch bestellte Josaphat zu Jerusalem etliche aus den Leviten und Priestern und aus den Obersten der Vaterhäuser in Israel über das Gericht des HERRN und über die Streitsachen und ließ sie zu Jerusalem wohnen,

Moreover, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat placed some of the Levites and of the priests and of the heads of the fathers of Israel for the judgment of the LORD and for controversies. And they returned to Jerusalem.

9 u nd er gebot ihnen und sprach: Tut also in der Furcht des HERRN, treulich und mit rechtem Herzen.

And he charged them, saying, Ye shall proceed thus in the fear of the LORD, in truth and with a perfect heart.

10 I n allen Sachen, die zu euch kommen von euren Brüdern, die in ihren Städten wohnen, zwischen Blut und Blut, zwischen Gesetz und Gebot, zwischen Sitten und Rechten, sollt ihr sie unterrichten, daß sie sich nicht verschulden am HERRN und ein Zorn über euch und eure Brüder komme. Tut also, so werdet ihr euch nicht verschulden.

In whatever case that shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes or rights, ye shall warn them lest they become guilty against the LORD so that wrath will not come upon you and upon your brethren. Doing thus, ye shall not be guilty.

11 S iehe, Amarja, der oberste Priester, ist über euch in allen Sachen des HERRN, und Sebadja, der Sohn Ismaels, der Fürst im Hause Juda's, in allen Sachen des Königs, und als Amtleute habt ihr die Leviten vor euch. Seid getrost und tut's, und der HERR wird mit dem Guten sein.

Behold, Amariah, the high priest, who shall be over you in all matters of the LORD; and Zebadiah, the son of Ishmael, prince of the house of Judah, for all the king’s matters; and the Levites who shall be teachers before you. Take courage and do, for the LORD shall be with the good.
