1 Y Josafat rey de Judá se volvió en paz a su casa en Jerusalén.

¶ And Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.

2 Y le salió al encuentro Jehú, hijo de Hanani, vidente, y dijo al rey Josafat: ¿A un impío das ayuda, y amas a los que aborrecen al SEÑOR? Pues la ira de la presencia del SEÑOR será sobre ti por ello.

And Jehu, the son of Hanani, the seer, went out to meet him and said to king Jehoshaphat, Should thou help the ungodly and love those that hate the LORD? Therefore, the wrath of the presence of the LORD shall be upon thee.

3 P ero se han hallado en ti buenas cosas, porque quemaste los bosques del culto pagano de la tierra, y has apercibido tu corazón a buscar a Dios.

Nevertheless, good things have been found in thee, in that thou hast burned down the groves of the land and hast prepared thy heart to seek God.

4 ¶ Y habitaba Josafat en Jerusalén; mas volvía y salía al pueblo, desde Beerseba hasta el monte de Efraín, y los hizo volver al SEÑOR Dios de sus padres.

And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem, and he went out again through the people from Beersheba to Mount Ephraim and brought them back unto the LORD God of their fathers.

5 Y puso en la tierra jueces en todas las ciudades fuertes de Judá, por todas las ciudades.

¶ And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city,

6 Y dijo a los jueces: Mirad lo que hacéis; para que no juzguéis en lugar de hombre, sino en lugar del SEÑOR, el cual está con vosotros en la palabra del juicio.

and said to the judges, Take heed what ye do, for ye do not judge for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the word of judgment.

7 S ea, pues, con vosotros el temor del SEÑOR; guardad y haced; porque acerca del SEÑOR nuestro Dios no hay iniquidad, ni acepción de personas, ni recibir soborno.

Therefore, now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it, for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes.

8 Y puso también Josafat en Jerusalén algunos de los levitas y sacerdotes, y de las cabezas de los padres de Israel, para el juicio del SEÑOR y para las causas. Y volvieron a Jerusalén.

Moreover, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat placed some of the Levites and of the priests and of the heads of the fathers of Israel for the judgment of the LORD and for controversies. And they returned to Jerusalem.

9 Y les mandó, diciendo: Procederéis así con temor del SEÑOR, en verdad, y con corazón perfecto.

And he charged them, saying, Ye shall proceed thus in the fear of the LORD, in truth and with a perfect heart.

10 E n cualquier causa que viniere a vosotros de vuestros hermanos que habitan en sus ciudades, entre sangre y sangre, entre ley y mandamiento, estatutos o derechos, habéis de amonestarles de que no sean culpables contra el SEÑOR, para que no venga ira sobre vosotros y sobre vuestros hermanos. Obrando así no serán culpables.

In whatever case that shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes or rights, ye shall warn them lest they become guilty against the LORD so that wrath will not come upon you and upon your brethren. Doing thus, ye shall not be guilty.

11 H e aquí a Amarías el sumo sacerdote, que será sobre vosotros en todo negocio del SEÑOR; y Zebadías hijo de Ismael, príncipe de la casa de Judá, en todos los negocios del rey; y los levitas que serán los maestros delante de vosotros. Esforzaos pues, y obrad; que el SEÑOR estará con el bueno.

Behold, Amariah, the high priest, who shall be over you in all matters of the LORD; and Zebadiah, the son of Ishmael, prince of the house of Judah, for all the king’s matters; and the Levites who shall be teachers before you. Take courage and do, for the LORD shall be with the good.
