1 ¶ ¿No clama la sabiduría, y da su voz la inteligencia?

¶ Doth not wisdom cry, and give her voice to intelligence?

2 E n los altos cabezos, junto al camino, a las encrucijadas de las veredas se para;

She stands in the top of high places, by the way at the crossroads of the paths.

3 e n el lugar de las puertas, a la entrada de la ciudad, a la entrada de las puertas da voces:

She cries at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.

4 O h hombres, a vosotros clamo; y mi voz es a los hijos de los hombres.

Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of men.

5 E ntended, simples, la prudencia; y vosotros, locos, tomad entendimiento.

O ye simple, understand prudence; and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

6 O íd, porque hablaré cosas excelentes; y abriré mis labios para cosas rectas.

Hear, for I will speak of excellent things, and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

7 P orque mi paladar hablará verdad, y mis labios abominan la impiedad.

For my mouth shall speak truth, and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

8 E n justicia son todas las razones de mi boca; no hay en ellas cosa perversa ni torcida.

All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing perverse or twisted in them.

9 T odas ellas son rectas al que entiende; rectas a los que han hallado sabiduría.

They are all plain to him that understands and right to those that have found wisdom.

10 R ecibid mi castigo, y no plata; y ciencia más que el oro escogido.

Receive my chastening and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold.

11 P orque mejor es la sabiduría que las piedras preciosas; y todas las cosas que se pueden desear, no son de comparar con ella.

For wisdom is better than precious stones; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

12 ¶ Yo, la sabiduría, moré con la prudencia; y yo invento la ciencia de los consejos.

¶ I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I invent the knowledge of giving counsel.

13 E l temor del SEÑOR es aborrecer el mal; la soberbia, la arrogancia, el mal camino, y la boca perversa, aborrezco.

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride, arrogancy, the evil way, and the perverse mouth, do I hate.

14 C onmigo está el consejo y el ser; yo soy la inteligencia; mía es la fortaleza.

With me is counsel, and existence; I am understanding; strength belongs to me.

15 P or mí reinan los reyes, y los príncipes determinan justicia.

By me the kings reign, and the princes decree justice.

16 P or mí dominan los príncipes, y todos los gobernadores juzgan la tierra.

By me the princes rule, and all of the governors judge the earth.

17 Y o amo a los que me aman; y los que me buscan me hallan.

I love those that love me, and those that seek me early shall find me.

18 L as riquezas y la honra están conmigo; sólidas riquezas, y justicia.

Riches and honour are with me, yea, durable riches and righteousness.

19 M ejor es mi fruto que el oro, y que la piedra preciosa; y mi rédito mejor que la plata escogida.

My fruit is better than gold, yea, than precious stones, and my revenue than choice silver.

20 P or vereda de justicia guiaré, por en medio de veredas de juicio;

I shall lead in the way of righteousness in the midst of the paths of judgment,

21 p ara hacer heredar a mis amigos el ser, y que yo llene sus tesoros.

that I may cause my friends to inherit existence and I will fill their treasures.

22 ¶ El SEÑOR me poseyó en el principio de su camino, desde entonces, antes de sus obras.

¶ The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

23 E ternalmente tuve el principado, desde el principio, antes de la tierra.

I was set up with eternal dominion, from the beginning, before the earth was.

24 A ntes de los abismos fui engendrada; antes que fueran las fuentes de las muchas aguas.

I was begotten before the depths, before the existence of the fountains of many waters.

25 A ntes que los montes fueran fundados, antes de los collados, era yo engendrada;

Before the mountains were founded, before the hills was I begotten.

26 n o había aún hecho la tierra, ni las campiñas, ni el principio del polvo del mundo.

While as yet he had not made the earth nor the fields nor the beginning of the dust of the world,

27 C uando componía los cielos, allí estaba yo; cuando señalaba por compás la sobrefaz del abismo;

when he composed the heavens, I was there. When he set a compass upon the face of the depth,

28 c uando afirmaba los cielos arriba, cuando afirmaba las fuentes del abismo;

when he established the clouds above, when he strengthened the fountains of the deep,

29 c uando ponía al mar su estatuto, y a las aguas, que no pasaran su mandamiento; cuando señalaba los fundamentos de la tierra;

when he gave to the sea his decree that the waters should not pass his commandment, when he appointed the foundations of the earth,

30 c on él estaba yo ordenándolo todo; y fui su delicia todos los días, teniendo solaz delante de él en todo tiempo.

I was with him ordering everything; I was his delight every day, being content before him at all times;

31 T engo solaz en la redondez de su tierra; y mis solaces son con los hijos de los hombres.

I am content in the circumference of his earth, and my contentment is with the sons of men.

32 ¶ Ahora, pues, hijos, oídme; y bienaventurados los que guardaren mis caminos.

¶ Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye sons; for blessed are those that keep my ways.

33 E scuchad al castigo, y sed sabios; y no lo menospreciéis.

Hearken unto chastening, and be wise; refuse it not.

34 B ienaventurado el hombre que me oye, trasnochando a mis puertas cada día, guardando los umbrales de mis entradas.

Blessed is the man that hears me, keeping vigil at my gates, waiting at the threshold of my doors.

35 P orque el que me hallare, hallará la vida; y alcanzará la voluntad del SEÑOR.

For whosoever finds me shall find life and shall obtain the will of the LORD.

36 M as el que peca contra mí, defrauda su alma; todos los que me aborrecen, aman la muerte.

But he that sins against me wrongs his own soul; all those that hate me love death.
