1 A sabedoria está clamando, o discernimento ergue a sua voz;

¶ Doth not wisdom cry, and give her voice to intelligence?

2 n os lugares altos, junto ao caminho, nos cruzamentos ela se coloca;

She stands in the top of high places, by the way at the crossroads of the paths.

3 a o lado das portas, à entrada da cidade, portas adentro, ela clama em alta voz:

She cries at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.

4 “ A vocês, homens, eu clamo; a todos levanto a minha voz.

Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of men.

5 V ocês, inexperientes, adquiram a prudência; e vocês, tolos, tenham bom senso.

O ye simple, understand prudence; and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

6 O uçam, pois tenho coisas importantes para dizer; os meus lábios falarão do que é certo.

Hear, for I will speak of excellent things, and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

7 M inha boca fala a verdade, pois a maldade causa repulsa aos meus lábios.

For my mouth shall speak truth, and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

8 T odas as minhas palavras são justas; nenhuma delas é distorcida ou perversa.

All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing perverse or twisted in them.

9 P ara os que têm discernimento, são todas claras, e retas para os que têm conhecimento.

They are all plain to him that understands and right to those that have found wisdom.

10 P refiram a minha instrução à prata, e o conhecimento ao ouro puro,

Receive my chastening and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold.

11 p ois a sabedoria é mais preciosa do que rubis; nada do que vocês possam desejar compara-se a ela.

For wisdom is better than precious stones; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

12 “ Eu, a sabedoria, moro com a prudência, e tenho o conhecimento que vem do bom senso.

¶ I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I invent the knowledge of giving counsel.

13 T emer o Senhor é odiar o mal; odeio o orgulho e a arrogância, o mau comportamento e o falar perverso.

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride, arrogancy, the evil way, and the perverse mouth, do I hate.

14 M eu é o conselho sensato; a mim pertencem o entendimento e o poder.

With me is counsel, and existence; I am understanding; strength belongs to me.

15 P or meu intermédio os reis governam, e as autoridades exercem a justiça;

By me the kings reign, and the princes decree justice.

16 t ambém por meu intermédio governam os nobres, todos os juízes da terra.

By me the princes rule, and all of the governors judge the earth.

17 A mo os que me amam, e quem me procura me encontra.

I love those that love me, and those that seek me early shall find me.

18 C omigo estão riquezas e honra, prosperidade e justiça duradouras.

Riches and honour are with me, yea, durable riches and righteousness.

19 M eu fruto é melhor do que o ouro, do que o ouro puro; o que ofereço é superior à prata escolhida.

My fruit is better than gold, yea, than precious stones, and my revenue than choice silver.

20 A ndo pelo caminho da retidão, pelas veredas da justiça,

I shall lead in the way of righteousness in the midst of the paths of judgment,

21 c oncedendo riqueza aos que me amam e enchendo os seus tesouros.

that I may cause my friends to inherit existence and I will fill their treasures.

22 “ O Senhor me criou como o princípio de seu caminho, antes das suas obras mais antigas;

¶ The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

23 f ui formada desde a eternidade, desde o princípio, antes de existir a terra.

I was set up with eternal dominion, from the beginning, before the earth was.

24 N asci quando ainda não havia abismos, quando não existiam fontes de águas;

I was begotten before the depths, before the existence of the fountains of many waters.

25 a ntes de serem estabelecidos os montes e de existirem colinas eu nasci.

Before the mountains were founded, before the hills was I begotten.

26 E le ainda não havia feito a terra, nem os campos, nem o pó com o qual formou o mundo.

While as yet he had not made the earth nor the fields nor the beginning of the dust of the world,

27 Q uando ele estabeleceu os céus, lá estava eu; quando traçou o horizonte sobre a superfície do abismo,

when he composed the heavens, I was there. When he set a compass upon the face of the depth,

28 q uando colocou as nuvens em cima e estabeleceu as fontes do abismo,

when he established the clouds above, when he strengthened the fountains of the deep,

29 q uando determinou as fronteiras do mar para que as águas não violassem a sua ordem, quando marcou os limites dos alicerces da terra,

when he gave to the sea his decree that the waters should not pass his commandment, when he appointed the foundations of the earth,

30 e u estava ao seu lado, e era o seu arquiteto; dia a dia eu era o seu prazer e me alegrava continuamente com a sua presença.

I was with him ordering everything; I was his delight every day, being content before him at all times;

31 E u me alegrava com o mundo que ele criou, e a humanidade me dava alegria.

I am content in the circumference of his earth, and my contentment is with the sons of men.

32 “ Ouçam-me agora, meus filhos: Como são felizes os que guardam os meus caminhos!

¶ Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye sons; for blessed are those that keep my ways.

33 O uçam a minha instrução, e serão sábios. Não a desprezem.

Hearken unto chastening, and be wise; refuse it not.

34 C omo é feliz o homem que me ouve, vigiando diariamente à minha porta, esperando junto às portas da minha casa.

Blessed is the man that hears me, keeping vigil at my gates, waiting at the threshold of my doors.

35 P ois todo aquele que me encontra, encontra a vida e recebe o favor do Senhor.

For whosoever finds me shall find life and shall obtain the will of the LORD.

36 M as aquele que de mim se afasta, a si mesmo se agride; todos os que me odeiam amam a morte”.

But he that sins against me wrongs his own soul; all those that hate me love death.
