1 O Espírito diz claramente que nos últimos tempos alguns abandonarão a fé e seguirão espíritos enganadores e doutrinas de demônios.

¶ Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, listening to spirits of error and doctrines of demons;

2 T ais ensinamentos vêm de homens hipócritas e mentirosos, que têm a consciência cauterizada

that in hypocrisy shall speak lies; having their conscience seared as with a hot iron;

3 e proíbem o casamento e o consumo de alimentos que Deus criou para serem recebidos com ação de graças pelos que crêem e conhecem a verdade.

they shall forbid to marry and shall command men to abstain from foods, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who are faithful and have known the truth.

4 P ois tudo o que Deus criou é bom, e nada deve ser rejeitado, se for recebido com ação de graças,

For everything that God created is good, and nothing is to be refused, if it is received with thanksgiving,

5 p ois é santificado pela palavra de Deus e pela oração.

for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

6 S e você transmitir essas instruções aos irmãos, será um bom ministro de Cristo Jesus, nutrido com as verdades da fé e da boa doutrina que tem seguido.

¶ If thou put these things before the brethren, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, unto which thou hast attained.

7 R ejeite, porém, as fábulas profanas e tolas, e exercite-se na piedade.

But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

8 O exercício físico é de pouco proveito; a piedade, porém, para tudo é proveitosa, porque tem promessa da vida presente e da futura.

For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.

9 E sta é uma afirmação fiel e digna de plena aceitação.

The Word is faithful and worthy of acceptation by all.

10 S e trabalhamos e lutamos é porque temos colocado a nossa esperança no Deus vivo, o Salvador de todos os homens, especialmente dos que crêem.

For this we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

11 O rdene e ensine estas coisas.

Command and teach this.

12 N inguém o despreze pelo fato de você ser jovem, mas seja um exemplo para os fiéis na palavra, no procedimento, no amor, na fé e na pureza.

Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the faithful in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

13 A té a minha chegada, dedique-se à leitura pública da Escritura, à exortação e ao ensino.

Until I come, occupy thyself reading, exhorting, teaching.

14 N ão negligencie o dom que lhe foi dado por mensagem profética com imposição de mãos dos presbíteros.

Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which is given unto thee to prophesy, through the laying on of the hands of the elders.

15 S eja diligente nessas coisas; dedique-se inteiramente a elas, para que todos vejam o seu progresso.

Occupy thyself in these things with care, for in this is everything, that thy profiting may be manifest unto all.

16 A tente bem para a sua própria vida e para a doutrina, perseverando nesses deveres, pois, agindo assim, você salvará tanto a si mesmo quanto aos que o ouvem.

Take heed unto thyself and unto the doctrine; be diligent in this, for in doing so thou shalt both save thyself and those that hear thee.
