1 V ejam! Um rei reinará com retidão, e príncipes governarão com justiça.

¶ Behold, one king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall preside unto judgment.

2 C ada homem será como um esconderijo contra o vento e um abrigo contra a tempestade, como correntes de água numa terra seca e como a sombra de uma grande rocha no deserto.

And that man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a hot land.

3 E ntão os olhos dos que vêem não mais estarão fechados, e os ouvidos dos que ouvem escutarão.

And the eyes of those that see shall not be dim, and the ears of those that hear shall hearken.

4 A mente do precipitado saberá julgar, e a língua gaguejante falará com facilidade e clareza.

The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.

5 O tolo já não será chamado nobre e o homem sem caráter não será tido em alta estima.

The vile person shall no longer be called liberal, nor the greedy said to be bountiful.

6 P ois o insensato fala com insensatez e só pensa no mal: ele pratica a maldade e espalha mentiras sobre o Senhor; deixa o faminto sem nada e priva de água o sedento.

For the vile person will speak villainy, and his heart will invent iniquity to work unrighteousness and to speak scornfully against the LORD, leaving the soul of the hungry empty and taking away the drink of the thirsty.

7 A s artimanhas do homem sem caráter são perversas; ele inventa planos maldosos para destruir com mentiras o pobre, mesmo quando a súplica deste é justa.

Certainly the greedy use evil measures: he devises wicked devices to ensnare the simple with lying words and to speak in judgment against the poor.

8 M as o homem nobre faz planos nobres, e graças aos seus feitos nobres permanece firme. As Mulheres de Jerusalém

But the liberal devises liberal things; and by liberal things shall he rise.

9 V ocês, mulheres tão sossegadas, levantem-se e escutem-me! Vocês, filhas que se sentem seguras, ouçam o que lhes vou dizer!

¶ Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.

10 D aqui a pouco mais de um ano, vocês, que se sentem seguras, ficarão apavoradas; a colheita de uvas falhará, e a colheita de frutas não virá.

Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the vintage shall fail, and the harvest shall not come in.

11 T remam, vocês, mulheres tranqüilas! Estremeçam, vocês, que se sentem seguras! Arranquem suas vestes, e vistam roupas de lamento.

Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make yourselves bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.

12 B atam no peito e chorem pelos campos agradáveis, pelas videiras frutíferas

Upon their breasts they shall lament for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.

13 e pela terra do meu povo, terra infestada de espinhos e roseiras bravas; sim, pranteiem por todas as casas cheias de júbilo e por esta cidade exultante.

Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; even upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city:

14 A fortaleza será abandonada, a cidade barulhenta ficará deserta, a cidadela e a torre das sentinelas se tornarão covis, uma delícia para os jumentos, uma pastagem para os rebanhos,

Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the noise of the city shall cease; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks;

15 a té que sobre nós o Espírito seja derramado do alto, e o deserto se transforme em campo fértil, e o campo fértil pareça uma floresta.

until the spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness is turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is counted for a forest.

16 A justiça habitará no deserto, e a retidão viverá no campo fértil.

Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness shall remain in the fruitful field.

17 O fruto da justiça será paz; o resultado da justiça será tranqüilidade e confiança para sempre.

And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness rest and security for ever.

18 O meu povo viverá em locais pacíficos, em casas seguras, em tranqüilos lugares de descanso,

And my people shall dwell in a habitation of peace and in secure dwellings and in the refreshing of rest.

19 m esmo que a saraiva arrase a floresta e a cidade seja nivelada ao pó.

And the hail, when it shall come down, shall be in the forest; and the city shall be completely laid low.

20 C omo vocês serão felizes, semeando perto das águas, e deixando soltos os bois e os jumentos!

Blessed are ye that sow upon all waters, ye that plow with the ox and with the ass.
