1 S enhor, tu és o nosso refúgio, sempre, de geração em geração.

¶ Lord, thou hast been our refuge from generation to generation.

2 A ntes de nascerem os montes e de criares a terra e o mundo, de eternidade a eternidade tu és Deus.

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

3 F azes os homens voltarem ao pó, dizendo: “Retornem ao pó, seres humanos!”

Thou dost turn unto man until he is broken and thou saith, Become converted, ye sons of Adam.

4 D e fato, mil anos para ti são como o dia de ontem que passou, como as horas da noite.

For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past and as a watch in the night.

5 C omo uma correnteza, tu arrastas os homens; são breves como o sono; são como a relva que brota ao amanhecer;

Thou dost cause them to pass by as the waters of a river; they are as a dream, which is strong in the morning like grass.

6 g ermina e brota pela manhã, mas, à tarde, murcha e seca.

In the morning it blossoms and grows up; in the evening it is cut down and withers.

7 S omos consumidos pela tua ira e aterrorizados pelo teu furor.

¶ For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath we are troubled.

8 C onheces as nossas iniqüidades; não escapam os nossos pecados secretos à luz da tua presença.

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

9 T odos os nossos dias passam debaixo do teu furor; vão-se como um murmúrio.

For all our days decline because of thy wrath; we end our years according to the word.

10 O s anos de nossa vida chegam a setenta, ou a oitenta para os que têm mais vigor; entretanto, são anos difíceis e cheios de sofrimento, pois a vida passa depressa, e nós voamos!

The days of our years are seventy, and of the most valiant eighty years, yet their strength is labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

11 Q uem conhece o poder da tua ira? Pois o teu furor é tão grande como o temor que te é devido.

Who knows the power of thine anger? that thy wrath is not less than our fear.

12 E nsina-nos a contar os nossos dias para que o nosso coração alcance sabedoria.

¶ Cause us to learn this that we might number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

13 V olta-te, Senhor! Até quando será assim? Tem compaixão dos teus servos!

Return unto us, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy slaves.

14 S atisfaze-nos pela manhã com o teu amor leal, e todos os nossos dias cantaremos felizes.

O satisfy us early with thy mercy, and we shall sing and be glad all our days.

15 D á-nos alegria pelo tempo que nos afligiste, pelos anos em que tanto sofremos.

Make us glad according to the days in which thou hast afflicted us and the years in which we have seen evil.

16 S ejam manifestos os teus feitos aos teus servos, e aos filhos deles o teu esplendor!

Let thy work appear in thy slaves and thy glory upon their sons.

17 E steja sobre nós a bondade do nosso Deus Soberano. Consolida, para nós, a obra de nossas mãos; consolida a obra de nossas mãos!

And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us, and set thou aright the work of our hands upon us; yea, set thou aright the work of our hands.
