1 Ó Deus, as nações invadiram a tua herança, profanaram o teu santo templo, reduziram Jerusalém a ruínas.

¶ O God, the Gentiles are come into thine inheritance; they have defiled the temple of thy holiness; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

2 D eram os cadáveres dos teus servos às aves do céu por alimento, a carne dos teus fiéis, aos animais selvagens.

The dead bodies of thy slaves they have given to be food unto the fowls of the heavens, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

3 D erramaram o sangue deles como água ao redor de Jerusalém, e não há ninguém para sepultá-los.

They have shed their blood like water round about Jerusalem, and there was no one to bury them.

4 S omos objeto de zombaria para os nossos vizinhos, de riso e menosprezo para os que vivem ao nosso redor.

We are reproached by our neighbours, scorned, and derided by those that are round about us.

5 A té quando, Senhor ? Ficarás irado para sempre? Arderá o teu ciúme como o fogo?

How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

6 D errama a tua ira sobre as nações que não te reconhecem, sobre os reinos que não invocam o teu nome,

¶ Pour out thy wrath upon the Gentiles that do not know thee and upon the kingdoms that do not call upon thy name.

7 p ois devoraram Jacó, deixando em ruínas a sua terra.

For they have devoured Jacob and laid waste his dwelling place.

8 N ão cobres de nós as maldades dos nossos antepassados; venha depressa ao nosso encontro a tua misericórdia, pois estamos totalmente desanimados!

O remember not against us former iniquities; let thy tender mercies speedily meet us on the way, for we are very poor.

9 A juda-nos, ó Deus, nosso Salvador, para a glória do teu nome; livra-nos e perdoa os nossos pecados, por amor do teu nome.

Help us, O God, our saving health, for the honor of thy name and deliver us and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

10 P or que as nações haverão de dizer: “Onde está o Deus deles?” Diante dos nossos olhos, mostra às nações a tua vingança pelo sangue dos teus servos.

Why should the Gentiles say, Where is their God? let him be known among the Gentiles in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy slaves which is shed.

11 C heguem à tua presença os gemidos dos prisioneiros. Pela força do teu braço preserva os condenados à morte.

Let the sighing of the prisoners come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve those that are appointed to die

12 R etribui sete vezes mais aos nossos vizinhos as afrontas com que te insultaram, Senhor!

and render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, with which they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13 E ntão nós, o teu povo, as ovelhas das tuas pastagens, para sempre te louvaremos; de geração em geração cantaremos os teus louvores.

So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: from generation to generation we will sing thy praises.
