1 M iriã e Arão começaram a criticar Moisés porque ele havia se casado com uma mulher etíope.

¶ And Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had taken; for he had taken an Ethiopian woman.

2 “ Será que o Senhor tem falado apenas por meio de Moisés?”, perguntaram. “Também não tem ele falado por meio de nós?” E o Senhor ouviu isso.

And they said, Has the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? Has he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.

3 O ra, Moisés era um homem muito paciente, mais do que qualquer outro que havia na terra.

(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

4 I mediatamente o Senhor disse a Moisés, a Arão e a Miriã: “Dirijam-se à Tenda do Encontro, vocês três”. E os três foram para lá.

¶ And the LORD spoke suddenly unto Moses and unto Aaron and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the testimony. And they three came out.

5 E ntão o Senhor desceu numa coluna de nuvem e, pondo-se à entrada da Tenda, chamou Arão e Miriã. Os dois vieram à frente,

Then the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle and called Aaron and Miriam; and they both came forth.

6 e ele disse: “Ouçam as minhas palavras: Quando entre vocês há um profeta do Senhor, a ele me revelo em visões, em sonhos falo com ele.

And he said, Hear now my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision and will speak unto him in dreams.

7 N ão é assim, porém, com meu servo Moisés, que é fiel em toda a minha casa.

My slave Moses is not so, who is faithful in all my house.

8 C om ele falo face a face, claramente, e não por enigmas; e ele vê a forma do Senhor. Por que não temeram criticar meu servo Moisés?”

With him I will speak mouth to mouth and by sight not by enigmas; he shall see the similitude of the LORD. Why then were ye not afraid to speak against my slave Moses?

9 E ntão a ira do Senhor acendeu-se contra eles, e ele os deixou.

Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against them, and he departed.

10 Q uando a nuvem se afastou da Tenda, Miriã estava leprosa; sua aparência era como a da neve. Arão voltou-se para Miriã, viu que ela estava com lepra

¶ And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle, and, behold, Miriam was leprous as the snow; and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.

11 e disse a Moisés: “Por favor, meu senhor, não nos castigue pelo pecado que tão tolamente cometemos.

And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, in which we have done foolishly, and we have sinned.

12 N ão permita que ela fique como um feto abortado que sai do ventre de sua mãe com a metade do corpo destruído”.

Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb.

13 E ntão Moisés clamou ao Senhor: “Ó Deus, por misericórdia, concede-lhe cura!”

Then Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.

14 O Senhor respondeu a Moisés: “Se o pai dela lhe tivesse cuspido no rosto, não estaria ela envergonhada sete dias? Que fique isolada fora do acampamento sete dias; depois ela poderá ser trazida de volta”.

And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again.

15 E ntão Miriã ficou isolada sete dias fora do acampamento, e o povo não partiu enquanto ela não foi trazida de volta.

So Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days, and the people did not journey until Miriam was brought in again.

16 D epois disso, partiram de Hazerote e acamparam no deserto de Parã.

And afterward he moved the people from Hazeroth, and they pitched camp in the wilderness of Paran.
