1 І нарікали Маріям та Аарон на Мойсея за жінку кушитянку, що взяв, бо він узяв був жінку кушитянку.

¶ And Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had taken; for he had taken an Ethiopian woman.

2 І казали вони: Чи тільки з Мойсеєм Господь говорив? Чи ж не говорив Він також із нами? І почув це Господь.

And they said, Has the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? Has he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.

3 А той муж, Мойсей, був найлагідніший за всяку людину, що на поверхні землі.

(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

4 І нагло сказав Господь до Мойсея й до Аарона та до Маріям: Вийдіть ви троє до скинії заповіту. І вони троє вийшли.

¶ And the LORD spoke suddenly unto Moses and unto Aaron and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the testimony. And they three came out.

5 І зійшов Господь у стовпі хмари, і став при вході скинії, та й покликав Аарона й Маріям. І вийшли обоє вони.

Then the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle and called Aaron and Miriam; and they both came forth.

6 І сказав Він: Послухайте ж ви Моїх слів: Якщо буде між вами пророк, то Я, Господь, дамся пізнати в видінні йому, у сні говорити з ним буду.

And he said, Hear now my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision and will speak unto him in dreams.

7 Н е так раб мій Мойсей: у всім домі Моїм він довірений!

My slave Moses is not so, who is faithful in all my house.

8 Г оворю Я з ним уста до уст, а не видінням і не загадками, і Образ Господа він оглядає. І чому не боялися ви нарікать на Мойсея, Мойого раба?

With him I will speak mouth to mouth and by sight not by enigmas; he shall see the similitude of the LORD. Why then were ye not afraid to speak against my slave Moses?

9 І запалав гнів Господній на них, і Він пішов,

Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against them, and he departed.

10 а хмара відступила з-над скинії. А ось Маріям прокажена, збілівши, як сніг! І обернувся Аарон до Маріям, аж ось вона прокажена!

¶ And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle, and, behold, Miriam was leprous as the snow; and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.

11 І сказав Аарон до Мойсея: Будь ласкав, мій пане, не поклади ж на нас гріха, що були ми нерозумні та що прогрішились!

And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, in which we have done foolishly, and we have sinned.

12 Н ехай же не буде вона, як та мертва дитина, що, як виходить з утроби матері своєї, то зітліла половина тіла її.

Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb.

13 І Мойсей кликав до Господа, говорячи: Боже, вилікуй же її!

Then Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.

14 І сказав Господь до Мойсея: А коли б її батько справді плюнув на обличчя її, чи не буде вона сім день засоромлена? Вона буде замкнена сім день поза табором, а потім повернеться.

And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again.

15 І була замкнена Маріям поза табором сім день, а народ не рушив аж до повернення Маріям.

So Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days, and the people did not journey until Miriam was brought in again.

16 А потім рушив народ із Гацероту, і таборував у пустині Паран.

And afterward he moved the people from Hazeroth, and they pitched camp in the wilderness of Paran.
