1 С тарець вибраній пані та дітям її, яких я поправді люблю, і не тільки я, але й усі, хто правду пізнав,

¶ The elder unto the chosen lady and her sons, whom I love in the truth, and not I only, but also all those that have known the truth,

2 з а правду, що в нас пробуває й повік буде з нами:

for the truth’s sake, which abides in us and shall be with us for ever.

3 н ехай буде з вами благодать, милість, мир від Бога Отця та Ісуса Христа, Сина Отцевого, у правді та в любові!

Grace be with you, mercy and peace, from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and charity.

4 Я дуже зрадів, що між дітьми твоїми знайшов таких, що ходять у правді, як заповідь ми прийняли від Отця.

I have rejoiced greatly, for I have found of thy sons that they walk in the truth, as we have received the commandment from the Father.

5 І тепер я благаю тебе, пані, не так, ніби пишу тобі нову заповідь, але ту, яку маємо від початку, щоб ми любили один одного!

¶ And now I beseech thee, lady, (not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning) that we love one another.

6 А любов ця щоб ми жили згідно з Його заповідями. Це та заповідь, яку ви чули від початку, щоб ви згідно з нею жили.

And this is charity, that we walk after his commandment. And this is the commandment, That ye walk in him, as ye have heard from the beginning.

7 Б о в світ увійшло багато обманців, які не визнають Ісуса Христа, що прийшов був у тілі. Такий то обманець та антихрист!

¶ For many deceivers are entered into the world, who do not confess Jesus Christ coming in flesh. This same is a deceiver and antichrist.

8 П ильнуйте себе, щоб ви не згубили того, над чим працювали, але щоб прийняли повну нагороду.

Look to yourselves, that we not lose those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a fulfilled reward.

9 К ожен, хто робить переступ та не пробуває в науці Христовій, той Бога не має. А хто пробуває в науці Його, той має і Отця, і Сина.

Whosoever rebels and does not abide in the doctrine of the Christ, does not have God. He that abides in the doctrine of the Christ, the same has the Father and the Son.

10 К оли хто приходить до вас, але не приносить науки цієї, не приймайте до дому його, і не вітайте його!

¶ If anyone comes unto you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house neither say unto him, Welcome:

11 Х то бо вітає його, той участь бере в лихих учинках його.

For he that says unto him, Welcome, is partaker of his evil deeds.

12 Б агато я мав написати до вас, але не схотів на папері й чорнилом. Та маю надію прибути до вас, і говорити устами до уст, щоб повна була ваша радість!

¶ Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink, but I trust to come unto you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

13 В ітають тебе діти вибраної сестри твоєї. Амінь.

The sons of thy chosen sister greet thee. Amen.
