1 П авло й Тимофій, раби Христа Ісуса, до всіх святих у Христі Ісусі, що знаходяться в Филипах, з єпископами та дияконами:

¶ Paul and Timothy, slaves of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

2 б лагодать вам і мир від Бога, Отця нашого, і Господа Ісуса Христа!

Grace be unto you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Д якую Богові своєму при кожній згадці про вас,

¶ I thank my God upon every remembrance of you

4 і завжди в усякій молитві своїй за всіх вас чиню я молитву з радощами,

always in every prayer of mine for you all, making request with joy,

5 з а участь вашу в Євангелії від першого дня аж дотепер.

for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now,

6 Я певний того, що той, хто в вас розпочав добре діло, виконає його аж до дня Христа Ісуса.

being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ.

7 Б о то справедливо мені думати це про всіх вас, бо я маю вас у серці, а ви всі в кайданах моїх, і в обороні, і в утвердженні Євангелії спільники мої в благодаті.

¶ Even as it is right for me to think this of you all because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are joint partakers of my grace.

8 Б о Бог мені свідок, що тужу я за вами всіма в сердечній любові Христа Ісуса.

For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

9 І молюсь я про те, щоб ваша любов примножалась ще більше та більше в пізнанні й усякім дослідженні,

¶ And this I pray that your charity may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all perception,

10 щ об ви досліджували те, що краще, щоб чисті та цілі були Христового дня,

that ye may approve the best, that ye may be sincere and without offense until the day of Christ,

11 н аповнені плодів праведности через Ісуса Христа, на славу та на хвалу Божу.

being filled with fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

12 Б ажаю ж я, браття, щоб відали ви, що те, що сталось мені, вийшло більше на успіх Євангелії,

¶ But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel,

13 б о в усій преторії та всім іншим стали відомі кайдани мої за Христа.

so that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace and in all other places;

14 А багато братів у Господі через кайдани мої посміліли та ще більше відважилися Слово Боже звіщати безстрашно.

and many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

15 О дні, правда, і через заздрощі та колотнечу, другі ж із доброї волі Христа проповідують;

Some indeed preach the Christ even out of envy and strife, but others also out of good will.

16 а інші з любови, знаючи, що я поставлений на оборону Євангелії;

Some preach the Christ out of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add tribulation to my bonds,

17 а інші через підступ звіщають Христа нещиро, думаючи, що додадуть тягару до кайданів моїх.

but the others out of charity, knowing that I am placed here for the defense of the gospel.

18 А ле що ж? У всякому разі, чи облудно, чи щиро, Христос проповідується, а тим я радію та й буду радіти.

What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretense, or in truth, Christ is preached, and I therein do rejoice, and will even rejoice.

19 Б о знаю, що це буде мені на спасіння через вашу молитву й допомогу Духа Ісуса Христа,

For I know that this shall become my saving health through your prayer and the nourishment of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

20 ч ерез чекання й надію мою, що я ні в чому не буду посоромлений, але цілою сміливістю, як завжди, так і тепер Христос буде звеличений у тілі моїм, чи то життям, чи то смертю.

according to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.

21 Б о для мене життя то Христос, а смерть то надбання.

¶ For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.

22 А коли життя в тілі то для мене плід діла, то не знаю, що вибрати.

But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour, yet I do not know what to choose.

23 Т ягнуть мене одне й друге, хоч я маю бажання померти та бути з Христом, бо це значно ліпше.

For I am in a strait between the two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better:

24 А щоб полишатися в тілі, то це потрібніш ради вас.

nevertheless, to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

25 І оце знаю певно, що залишусь я, і пробуватиму з вами всіма вам на користь та на радощі в вірі,

And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith,

26 щ об ваша хвала через мене примножилася в Христі Ісусі, коли знову прийду я до вас.

that your glorying in Jesus Christ may be more abundant by my coming to you again.

27 Т ільки живіть згідно з Христовою Євангелією, щоб, чи прийду я й побачу вас, чи й не бувши почув я про вас, що ви стоїте в однім дусі, борючись однодушно за віру євангельську,

¶ Only let your conversation be as is worthy of the gospel of Christ, that whether I come and see you or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, unanimous, working together for the faith of the gospel,

28 і ні в чому не боячися противників; це їм доказ загибелі, вам же спасіння. А це від Бога!

and in nothing terrified by your adversaries, which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of saving health and that of God.

29 Б о вчинено вам за Христа добродійство, не тільки вірувати в Нього, але і страждати за Нього,

For unto you it is granted regarding Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake,

30 м аючи таку саму боротьбу, яку ви бачили в мені, а тепер чуєте про мене.

having the same conflict which ye saw in me and now hear to be in me.
